Catering students cook for Queen’s visit

Catering students at Warrington Collegiate served up an amazing array of dishes to celebrate the Queen’s visit to Warrington when they hosted a special buffet lunch for VIP’s and Dignitaries at the official opening of the new Orford Park Project.
Preparations began early; with menu planning and table settings designed for the first ever fine dining event in the brand new function room on the top floor with glorious views over the newly finished green expanse of Orford Park.
Catering students at Warrington Collegiate are used to delivering a fine dining experience having reached semi-finals of the prestigious Nestle Toque D’Or competition and recently the British Turkey Student Chef of the year. The catering team has also just returned from the Chester races where they catered for around 600 customers a day for 3 days, working 10 hour days

Guests enjoyed a sumptuous lunch including Cold Roasted Black Pepper Sirloin with Horseradish, Cold Poached River Dee Salmon, Greenlip Mussels Sauté Cevettes Watercress, Roasted Jack Daniels and Maple Syrup Cheshire Ham with Glazed Pink Lady Apples, Tomato and Mozzarella Salad with Toasted Pine Kernels and Fresh Basil, Cheshire New Potato and Chive Salad, Wholegrain Mustard Coleslaw, Tabbola Mint and Lemon Salad and an amazing range of homemade desserts to conclude a truly gastronomic experience.
Dan Turner, Curriculum Manager for Hospitality and Catering at Warrington Collegiate was proud of his team, saying, “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students, not only because of the top class food they prepared but also their professionalism throughout the day.”
Warrington Collegiate is well-known throughout the Warrington area for the fine dining experience it offers at Buckley’s, the award winning training restaurant and fully licensed bar run by Hospitality and Catering students at Warrington Collegiate. As part of the extensive menu Buckley’s regularly offers its popular themed nights from Oriental to Scottish Burns Night Celebrations.
