Visited yesterday with family and had the most fantastic lunch, great price and extremely pleasant and knowledgable staff.
The award winning cheese pie was absolutely delicious and the sauce was to die for. Definitely recommend
Food was absolutely delicious and service first class. Can't wait to go again.
Fantastic experience, non pretentious, high quality gem. Staff relaxed atmosphere, great service but with a relaxed attitude and great knowledge of food and drink. The food is fantastic and great attention to detail and preparation makes it a wonderful night out. Love supporting local restaurant that makes that extra effort.
Don't bother with the cheap pub grub in the village. Pay a couple of pounds a head more and have a wonderful, freshly cooked (not microwaved!) good value and really tasty meal. I have been going to the Fat Loaf in the village since it opened and have enjoyed it every time.
I have never had a bad meal or even course at any of the Fat Loaf's. The Ashton branch is my favorite. Fantastic cooking, I could eat here every night and not get fed up!
This is an excellent restaurant serving season local produce at reasonable prices. The atmosphere is warm and the staff are knowledgeable about their menus. The Fat Loaf is the jewel in the crown of Aston on Mercy.
Fantastic. Just popped in for a spot of Saturday lunch but having read the menu we soon decided to make lunch our main meal of the day. The sharing plate for starters showed off the chefs' skills. The chicken and pork chop from the grill were perfectly cooked and wonderfully complemented by a Reisling from the wine list. Two great puddings with a choice of desert wines followed by well made espressos to the meal off. My only concern was after all of that we were far to full and content to do much else in the afternoon! Looking forward to moving to the Sale area to visit regularly.
Love this place! great to have such a fab restaurant with great food, friendly staff on your door step.
Going again tonight with friends.
never had a bad meal here.
wonderful place. exquisite food. brilliant staff. if they have the assiette of market fish on the menu, have it. even if you're not a big fan of fish. it's beautiful.
We ate here and chose from the "Special" selection. We had the selection of 3 fishes (sea bass, salmon and smoked haddock) all of which were moist, succulent and simply but nicely presented. Staff were pleasant and service was excellent.
Great place, certainly on a par with their Altrincham restaurant - not as big. But food is really decent. Counldnt fault anything.
Excellent value for money always a pleasure to bring our friends here we know we wonít be disappointed. But donít rest on your laurels guys the chef from the ivory restaurants opening is own restaurant in sale so you might have some competition soon
I have been twice now to Fat Loaf to celebrate a birthday. The food is lovely, the service absolutely excellent. Paul one of the owners, really goes through the menu choices. Varied Menu, desserts to die for. Steak is just fab, and the Sea Bass, very popular with my group of friends. Nice atmosphere and stylish premises. I would highly recommend it. NB Make it your next night out!!!
my wife and I had a meal at the fat loaf approximately 2 weeks ago. The place itself is quite contemporary, warm and inviting. We were greeted on arrival and made welcome at the bar while we waited for our food. The seating arrangements are ok but we felt quite overlooked where we were as we had been placed in the middle of the floor where the staff walk by to access the bar etc.
the starter was fantastic, goats cheese wrapped in a light pancake on a bed of golden beetroot salad.
The main course was good but we both found too much salt was used but other than it was ok.
mmm mmm mmm what can I say except excellent.
was very good we were looked after very well. Overall the whole experience was great but even though we had one main meal free as part of the offer we found it still a little on the pricey side (think this was due to price of wine).
after the first visit we were hooked! we have visited several times and in particular the new years eve dinner was great! well done to the chefs
What a wizard night out! It started with a magical goats cheese tartlet with rocket salad, splendid for a quadditch fest. I had the Rib Eye steak, however, Malfouy had the rabbit saddle ( I couldn't face it as my little bunny Flopsy had gone missing the day before!). Uncle Hagrid said that the cheesecake was delicious but was disappointed that there was NO NUTS IN THE LEMON DRIZZLE CAKE! There was plenty of chatty banter from all of the Griffindaw clan as we were tended by very attentive staff. The chicken and sprout puree was very adventurous and will be well repeated at Christmas time (or any other time it is eaten.!!)
On a serious note, these boys are really going places and it is an absolute pleasure to observe them grow! Keep it up lads!
A very welcome change from other places in Sale. This is a superb place to eat and drink your choice of wine. Have taken many guests here and all say what a pleasure it is to visit. Keep it up but don't spoil it by getting a license !!
Was there on holiday from Canada, great restaurant awsome food, highly reccomend to anyone who visits Sale.
Already been twice this month, very impressed with the food, it's delicious. Love the BYOB idea.
Can't say enough nice things about this place. Been going since the Guardian did a nice write-up about it in their Guide section last year. A much-needed change from Sale's range of sports bars and run-of-the-mill restaurants. Lovely, unpretentious bistro with simple decor, recently extended which can only be a good thing as it's half it's original small size. Staff are friendly and efficient and the open-plan kitchen makes for something to watch and chatty banter with the chef/proprietor. Food is lovely, simple and modern British, and the menu changes weekly. If I have to critize at all, I'd only suggest a little more of a sense of adventure with some of the flavours...though it isn't fusion food they're doing, so I'll let them off! The early bird special gets you two courses for £13.50 if you sit down before 6.45 on a Tuesday-Thursday. They did offer free coffee and biccies too, but I think they dropped that when they got popular!
Myself, family and friends have eaten at the Fat Loaf five or six times. The quality of the food is superb and the menu updated on a regular basis. Given the bonus of no corkage on wine it is really fabulous value.
We feel really lucky that we have such a gem so close to home.
