We love, love, love this restaurant! A fabulous selection of dishes, with great provision for vegetarians, topped off with fabulous service! We use them to eat in and for takeaway, we can't get enough.

For a "first timer" to authentic Spanish Food I was not disappointed. Excellent selection of Tapas with great service and surroundings. Would highly recommend.

Visited on 9/7/12 having got an email saying it had been added as a new restaurant to Tastecard. Brilliant food, brilliant service off a very personable hostess and fantastic value for money. Its a little gem that is hidden away. Glad to have discovered it.
Greg, Heaton Moor
Quite simply the best tapas I've had anywhere in the world... and, what's even better is that it's right here in Stockport. Fabulous food, great wine selection, and lovely staff.

We have reviewed La Casona a few times and have been pleased to celebrate the quality of the experience. On our visit this week, the food and atmosphere exceeded all our previous visits - and this was a Wednesday night, not normally noted as a busy evening for restaurants. The atmosphere was buzzing! The food captures the full range of flavours of Spanish cuisine from the intense to the subtle. La Casona's menu is, above all, consistent but the ingenuity with which chefs Pamela and Tony prepare and serve a range of special tapas is exemplary. This, coupled with the personal attention of manager Paco, IS the taste of Spain! It continues to be our pleasure to give the restaurant our highest praise.

Readers will note that we have reviewed La Casona before however I feel it is necessary to write once again to celebrate the excellent food and service that continues to be offered. Our last meal was truly sensational - the 'specials' are becoming more adventurous and truly flavoursome and exquisite. Above all, the attention to the customer by restaurant staff both front of house and in the kitchen is of exemplary standard. I think we can say that La Casona is now, in our opinion, one of South Manchester's finest restaurants.

Went here as a family of 7 for my mum and dads 50th golden wedding anniversary Sunday 4th July- amazing food was served very friendly and attentive staff - made my mum and dad,s day very special - would highly recommend la casona, and will be going back soon

I arranged for hot tapas and paella to be served to 42 guests at my home for my 40th Birthday Party
I found Diane very helpful in helping with choices / prompt quoting and recommendations for quantities etc
I have never eaten in the restaurant but got a lot of confidence from talking on the phone
Paco then visited my home a couple of weeks prior to the event and we planned the layout
On the day Paco & Sebastian arrived many hours before the party was due to start , did a lot of preparation in my home and had everything ready to the agreed serving time ( the cooking smells were great ! )
The food was amazing - all my friends & family commented on how delicious both the tapas and then the paella was. It looked like so much food but everyone had seconds !
Paco & Sebastian were great fun be be around and worked very hard to achieve a top class result
I could highly recommend La Casona as a first class outside caterer
Thank you for making my birthday party a true night to remember.

My experience of Spain and the Spanish has always tended towards a party vibe. Times spent lolling around Barcelona’s bars were happy ones, the Spanish students I met during a stint teaching English as a foreign language were always the most fun-loving and the tapas restaurants I’ve been to have been fun, lively affairs.
La Casona in Heaton Moor was no exception when we visited one Friday night.
It’s less high-end and monied than Grado, the modern Spanish restaurant which is part of celebrity chef Paul Heathcote’s fine dining empire featured in CityLife last week, but family-friendly, charming and vibrant.
Straight away it was as if we were no longer in England, not necessarily as if we were in Spain either, but at least somewhere with more of a holiday feel than the Stockport border.
La Casona is run by the Menendez family and was set up originally in Stockport before moving to Heaton Moor in 2002, threatening the best tapas in Greater Manchester. It’s always welcome news to hear there is just one table left when you ring up to book a table, first because you got the last one, and second because it probably means you are in for a good time.
During our evening, when we saw people continuously turn up and be turned away because the place was full, there were clearly a lot of people who knew they were on to a good thing.
Now to be honest, when we arrived, our happily-booked table had been given to someone else.
But an apologetic look from our rushed-off-his feet waiter, as much of a caricature of a Spanish waiter as it’s possible to be, though a little paler, and a promise there would be a table in 15 minutes was enough for us to persist and take ourselves off for a drink while we waited – ready to be won round by the food.
The table mishap meant we got to see more of Heaton Moor than expected, a hub I had limited experience of.
Friday night was clearly getting started, with groups of trendy young people in high spirits and smatterings of faked-tanned dolly birds filtering through the streets and into the bars and eateries which surround La Casona.
I sensed a lot of these excitable Friday night-ers would be drunk in the road somewhere in a few hours. But the suburb is leafy and pleasant.
Back at the restaurant our table was ready, with a wink from our waitress.
Earthy decor with terracotta tiles, wrought iron and bold colour created an authentic not tacky feel.
The entire low level of the restaurant was taken up with a ballooned party, the place absolutely lending itself to celebration, with a La Casona banquet available to hire for outside functions, their giant paellas the perfect sharer.
I noticed how the place hummed with happy chatter.
We concentrated on the extensive menu of tapas, a la carta dishes and paellas and ordered wine from the mainly Spanish, partly South American list.
Half a litre of sangria is £8.95 if you prefer.
Struggling with a decision on the impressive selection of vegetable, meat and fish tapas we had the mixed hors d’oeuvres to start (£5.65) with cured ham, chorizo, manchego cheese, pork loin and olives.
This coarse cheese had a delightful spiciness to its after-taste and was moreish when piled up with the hams and fluffy but crusty tomato bread, my favourite from the rough-and-ready basketed selection we were given.
Patatas bravas (£3.95) and tortilla espanola (£3.95), spanish omelette, were essential tapas sides, and the Pisto Manchego (£4.25), ratatouille with goat’s cheese, was a quality accompaniment to the meat dishes.
The frito mixto (£3.95), deep fried vegetables with garlic mayonnaise, were plentiful and delicately battered.
Meat-wise we had pollo la casona (£4.75), chicken in white wine and saffron, costillas al ajillo (£4.25), garlic and paprika ribs, and the specials board version of the ternera a la pimienta £6.95), beef strips, cooked in a sweet wine.
The overwhelming theme throughout was that the meat was faultlessly tender.
The ribs were escaping the bone before we even tackled them, the chicken was the slow-cooked stew variety which absorbs every bit of flavour and, while I usually tackle beef with care as I expect at least some toughness, I found none.
This beef was oriental in its sweetness and my favourite of the lot.
Tapas can be salty if done on the cheap, and while it was certainly very full flavoured, it wasn’t too salty.
To finish, the borrachinos (£4.45), hot coconut and banana puddings with cinnamon and lemon zest syrup, were filling and doughy but lightened with the syrup and vital ice cream.
The place was full all night, with a healthy hustle and bustle which meant that service wasn’t the quickest at points – but who was in a rush?
I did have to rescue one of our dishes which went to a different table, remind the waiter for some sugar with our coffees and of course the missed booking could have been more irritating had there been no tables becoming free.
But the minor grumbles were simply because it was so busy, not through any slack on the part of the energetic and friendly staff.
We left with an authentic ‘muchas gracias’ and content to have been whisked away from the England outside for a couple of hours.
La Casona serves better tapas than I’ve had elsewhere in these parts and is full of life - and short of escaping for some real Spanish sunshine and partying, the La Casona atmosphere will warm you up.

Ordered a 'Tapas takeaway' for the first time from this restaurant having read some of the reviews and wow it was brilliant. Everything from order taking to food (most important) was delicious. Estupendo! Will definitely be making a return.

Quite simply the best Tapas I have ever experienced and I'm a real fan. Even better than anything in Palma or anywhere I visited in Andalucia. I took a friend of mine who is an experienced chef to La Casona and he said it was the best Tapas he'd ever had as well. Perfect.
Satycat, Heaton Moor
Visited on a quiet Sunday night, recommended that five tapas dishes would be plenty for the two of us.
Took the advice but quickly changed to six, not because of the size but the quality of the food - wanted more!! Great service and great food, a perfect evening.
Nic, Stockport
Having been here on numerous occasions before and living in the local area, La Casona was the obvious choice for me hen party meal with the girls before we hit the town! Jesus and Paco and the team as always made us feel very welcome. Service was excellent and the food, as always - divine! You have to go here.

I wrote a review over a year ago about this very special Spanish restaurant. It has gone from strength to strength and, to my mind, produces some of the most authentic cooking Spanish cooking that you can find. There are always new ideas being tried out by an adventurous kitchen New potatoes with sea salt accompanied by garlic and coriander mayonnaise, for example, is tasty alternative to the equally wonderful patatas bravas. Above all, there is always a friendly atmosphere and warm welcome, not only from manager Paco, but also the lively and good-humoured chefs. This restaurant has to be a contender for a regional food award!

We've been to La Casona a number of times since moving to the area. I can honestly say that each time we have been the food and the service have been fantastic. The lamb stew is senstational, I can not recommend this place highly enough

I heard of this restaurant when i met a young lad called "seb" in a bar in fallowfield (at about 2am) . At first i thought he was talking rubbish saying his family and him owned a restaurant (he was young)in heaton moore. He then passed me a card n told me to come in and he would "sort me out something smashing" as he said. i forgot all about this night until i came back off holiday from spain, where the food in costa del sol was frankly.. rubbish!.I found his card and thought i'll give it ago. When i got there i was welcomed by a slim loud spanish looking man with a great sence of humour. He provided excellent customer service. my food came in about 20 minutes and i was absolutly amazed with it. i ordered beef in peppercorn sauce, stuffed peppers, king prawns with chorizo sausage, garlicy tomato bread and some sort of a lamb stew. It was beautifull and it made the food i had in spain look like micowave meals from asda! had a brilliant time will CERTAINLY be back again.

One hundred and twenty five people came to our June wedding at a marquee at home. One hundred and twenty five people sought us out to tell us how fabulous La Casona's food was and how friendly, informal and attentive the staff were.
The theatre of the giant paella, authentic, made with real home-made vegetable stock and featuring lobster tails, squid, chicken, chorizo, mussels and prawns was a stunning high point. The accompanying buffet was dressed to impress, gorgeous plates dressed and garnished to perfection displayed alongside statement Spanish jugs and pots and a huge jamon, carved into mouthwatering little layers.
Guests were treated to lovely Spanish tapas canapés while they sipped fizz from chilled flutes as the huge paella dish heated up and soon gathered a crowd. Most people, I'm embarrassed to say, had 'thirds', but still found room for a pudding or two.
The marquee was set up beautifully and cleared and clean in a whisper to ensure guests could continue drinking and dancing into the night. We would recommend La Casona for any outdoor event where taste, authenticity and presentation are important. People keep badgering us to renew our vows and repeat the whole event. We've only been married five weeks!

agree with sharon from sale although it is also good fun to go in a group.

Very nice spanish restaurant. The food / wine is of a very high standard and the atmosphere is nice. The service is usually good although you can wait a while to be served, but the head waiter is very efficient.
I would advise you to book a table if visiting at weekend.

la cascona is a lovely restaurant, have been here numerous times and cannot fault the food and service and resonably priced
Mike T
Eaten here many times over the last few years, and can very much recommend it. Probably the best Tapas restaurant in the Stockport area. Good sized Tapas, and 3 for £8.95 offer most days. Kids eat free on a Sunday. Small and friendly restaurant - well worth a visit
