Bears Paw Inn
British, Traditional
[show 8 more photos]Your hosts, Jason and Melanie Craig have been in the licensed trade for the past 10 years and very much enjoy what they do. Before moving to the Bears Paw in April 2003 they spent 8 years at the Jolly Thresher in Lymm, where they gained their reputation for good service. During that time they won an award for best food pub out of 60 other outlets.
They enjoyed the Jolly Thresher very much but wanted to break away from managed houses and do their own thing. Since moving to the Bears Paw they have grown from strength to strength.
Jason and Melanie take great pride in running the Bears Paw Inn, originally a 17th century farm house located on the A50 Warrington Road. The pub has beamed ceilings, a real log fire and simply oozes with character.
In the cosy 30 seater restaurant, the tables have cream place mats at lunchtime and brown runners in the evening with rolled cotton napkins, fresh cut flowers and a general air of comfort and well being. In addition to the restaurant, the Bears Paw has an attractive bar with a seating area, a roomy snug, beer gardens front and back and a children's play area with plenty of room to play safely.
The emphasis is on good home cooked food and good well kept beers. There is an extensive a-la-carte menu, daily chalk board specials and a lunch time snack menu. Most desserts are made on the premises which include our very decadent Ticky Tacky and Bread and Butter pudding. Our fresh bread is delivered daily from the local bakers ' Sextons' of Lymm, and our ice cream is made at the local Dunham Massey Farm, we also have a daily delivery of fresh fish and meats.
We sell Cask Marque beers, mild, lagers and cider as well as a full range of spirits and there are at least 20 wines and Champagne to choice from. We offer mulled wine in the cold winter months in addition to our extensive coffee menu. We hold a Quiz Evening every Monday, starting at 9.00pm. Entry is £1.00 per person. We provide sandwiches at half time and there are cash prizes to be won.
We would suggest that bookings be made a few days in advance and if you require a table at weekends to book a week in advance, just as not to be disappointed.

We've enjoyed Mel and Jason's hospitality ever since they were based at the Jolly Thresher. We eat at the Bear's Paw at least once a month and have NEVER had a poor meal, or even a mediocre one. Highly recommended.

Fish Chips & peas together with complimentary bottle of birthday wine. That must beat the 'Magpie' at Whitby!

We had a fantastic meal there last night, my wife had duck which was the best she or I had ever tasted, and my steak was tender and tasty. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the beer was just right! We'll certainly be back for more.

what a change to the norm!!! so many pubs in the area are either serving microwave rubbish or over-priced nonsense. thank goodness we have found a proper pub serving proper pub food. The staff were all very helpful and the beer garden was very well kept and a pleasure to eat in.
