Wow, how could we have missed this excellent restaurant for 4 1/2 yrs!!! Went for the first time last night and it was great. Food was lovely, atmosphere very nice and relaxed, felt nice from walking in the door, it was warm on a very cold night.

Hazel Grove

We have been going to the Bunga Raya for almost three years. We found it by chance and find it fantastic. We go almost every week and have never had a bad experience. Peter always gives fantastic service, always helpful, smiling and accommodating. We have also spent many special occasions there with friends & family. Definitely highly recommended :)

S Das

Very friendly and cosy. Excellent starters and food. Been there a couple of times, never been disappointed. We also had a take-home 4-course food for a party, including soups, all nicely packed by Peter. Very reasonably priced, but remember they accept cash only. Highly recommended.

Jeff & Pat - Hazel Grove

Pat and I have been going to the Bunga Raya now for about three or four years and have never been disappointed in the service or the quality of the food. All our friends and relatives that we have taken there have been thoroughly impressed and never visit us without wanting a trip to the retaurant. Keep up the good work Peter

We have been going to the Bunga Raya for years - both in Stockport and then in Hazel Grove. Probably our favourite local restaurant - we always comment after each visit that it never fails to delight.

Very friendly, with wonderful food at great value and always super service. Peter has a memory for your favourite tipple and if you'd like to swap the squid for ribs on the mixed hor d'oeuvres - no problem. Go on - try it.

Our son like it so much so that he ahs asked to have his 21st there next year.

We have been going to the Bunga Raya since it first opened in Stockport and continue to visit at regular intervals now its in Hazel Grove. The food is fabulous, really fresh and very tasty. The owner Peter is exceptionally friendly and when you leave its like leaving a friends house. Highly reccomended 5 *****

We have been regularly with friends to Bunga Raya - it is a fantastic restaurant - we tend to get the 2 different set menus for 2 for the 4 of us. They are superb - if you like Chinese and Thai try Malasian. It's different but better! The flavours are intense but not overpowering. The last time we went we couldn't finish the food because there was so much and didn't have the puddings. The service is superb and the host is attentive. Last time we had 2 set meals for 2 - a bottle of wine and 4 large beers for £85. We left a £15 tip because we felt this was too cheap! Try the food you' ll love it!

Hazel Grove

My family goes to the Bunga Raya regularly for special occasions. The food is always exceptional and reasonably priced! Peter and his wife are always warm, welcoming and excellent hosts. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Bunga Raya to anyone and look forward to my next visit.

David, Stockport

Only discovered this last week although we've been past many times and 'peered in'. On Friday we went in and we're so glad we did. The service was so friendly and the food was exceptional. I'm almost hesitant to recommend Bunga Raya too highly in case I can't get a table next time.

neil and margaret- stockport

since our first visit we were hooked by the malaysian food and the friendly service. peter and jasmin who own this great little restaurant treat you not so much as a customer but more a family member and will alter the meal in any way they can to suit your tast. if you want fantastic malaysian food in a great family owned and run restaurant this is it ,we cannot recomend bunga raya to much

Johnson

Very good service, excellent food fantastic menu well worth a visit, Peter the owner is very attentive.

Haze Grove

I have visited this restaurant about five times in the last three months. The food is absolutely stunning, relaxing environment and the service is great. You too will want to go back once you have tried the delicious Malaysian food. Give it a try !

Mainly chicken, duck, fish and vegetable dishes, the crispy duck is fantastic. We have taken several friends they are now looking forward to there next visit. Excellent value for Monday great family run restaurant.

neil worthington stockport

I have visited this restaurant several times and never regreted it , the food is fantastic the prices are good and the service from peter and his wife is friendly and genuine , you are a friend after a couple a visits

Tracey, Stockport

Bunga Raya is a very recent discovery for us but we LOVE it! We were there for the 4th time on Saturday night. As always, a winning combination: delicious food, reasonable prices, a good choice of well-priced wine but most of all - as others have said - genuine warmth from the owner. Tonight was the quietest we've seen it on a Saturday night (people away for the BH Weekend maybe?). By rights there shouldn't be an empty table in the place! If you haven't been yet, give it a try - you really won't be disappointed! It's a little hidden gem (just next door to Huffys Wine Bar). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Chris and Indi

We've been dining at the Bunga Raya for some years now, both Stockport and Hazel Grove. Peter and Jasmine run a charming restaurant that focuses on serving great tasting food with genuine friendliness. Love the crispy duck.....think we'll try and book tonight.

Sharon L hazel grove

Went to bunga last night with friends and will definitely be going back. We had a set menu and the owner had no problem in swapping some of the dishes for us and even cooking one without coconut!!! This just demonstrates that the dishes are prepared fresh and they were very tasty. The crispy duck was fantastic and there was none of that thick gloopy sauce you quite often get with oriental food.
The price was very good and the ambiance was lovely.
Can't wait to try more!!!

lena

Pretty authentic malaysian food being a malaysian myself. Cosy restaurant. Reasonable price

Andrea, Stockport

Had a lovely meal last night at Bunga Raya. The sweet and sour crispy fish was amazing. We will be visiting again !

Michelle and Tim

We have been coming to the Bunga Ray since the week it first opened in Stockport, never had a bad meal. the food and the company of Peter and Jasmine are fantastic. the best satay this side of KL!!!

Leanne Stockport

Brilliant food and service as always! If you haven't tried Malaysian the mixed banquet is to be recommended. We had 2 of each for 4 of us and the courses kept coming and coming!!!!

John Rochdale

The food service were excellent thanks

Gordon Smith (Stockport)

Perfect!!Having served two years in Malaya/Singapore this was my first Malayasian meal for fifty years and what a suprise. The Nasi Goreng was perfect and just as good now as it was then.Congratulations Peter on a perfect meal.We will return.

Gordon Smith

Almost fifty years since leaving Malaya and Singapore I tasted the delights of a first class Nasi Goreng,no banana leaf this time.A first class restaurant, friendly service, and very reasonably priced.Worthy of another visit.

Monza - Hazel Grove

Went for dinner on Sunday with a sceptic. Surely you can't have good Malay food in Hazel Grove!! Well you can and we did. Had a lovely meal and very reasonably priced. Would recommend it to everyone to try......need to keep them open in Hazel Grove for a long time to come.

lisa

not been for couple of years because we thought it had closed down, was very excited when i saw the new place in hazel grove. have booked a table for next week so hopefully will be as good as it always has been..will keep you posted.

Jonathan Hazel Grove

Great food, only had a take away but can thoroughly recommend it.

Jen from Stockport

Peter's started trading in Hazel Grove! The food's still great and price is reasonably cheap! I have spotted that the Menu has changed and a few new dishes has been added, I love it. Definitely still the best Malaysian food I've ever tasted!

Regular, Stockport

Good News --Bunga Raya is reopening in Hazel Grove on Tuesday 11th November 2008. Tel no. 4832353

Jon Moss, Hazel Grove

They maybe re-opening in Hazel Grove. There is a new restaurant front called Bunga Raya in Hazel Grove near to Huffy's on London Road near opposite to American Golf.

stockport

i tried to find this restaurant to book a table and it is no longer in business. it is now a charity shop.

Chris Morley, Davenport

Sadly, the Bunga Raya has ceased trading.

Peter & Jasmine will be hugely missed (along with their fantastic food). It's a sad loss for Stockport's cuisine!

Perhaps they have moved premises. Does anyone know?

lisa stockport

Can you tell me if this place has closed down, cant get through on the number.hope it hasnt.

Michelle And Tim Stockport

Peter, Jasmine and family are so welcoming. The Bunga Raya serves the best Malay food outside of Kuala Lumpur! We have been eating there for over 4 years and the food and company seems to improve with time. Something for everyone, the Satay is the best we have tasted even after spending many yeras in Malaysia. Peter and Jasmine are part of the family now.

stockport

We have been going to Bunga raya for 4 years and we have never had a bad meal. A little bit of something for everyone. Peter, Jasmine and family are part of our family now. We have spent many years in Malaysia and Bunga Raya is the best Malay food we have tasted outside Malaysia.

Rebecca, Stockport

One of my favourite restaurants in Greater Manchester. The food is always excellent (from delicious starters to mains such as the bunga raya crispy duck and chicken satay. Peter the owner couldn't be more helpful if he tried. Bunga Raya is excellent value for money and well worth a visit!

Helen & Steve, Stockport

We ate at Bunga Raya for the first time on a wet Saturday night but the warm welcome we received soon made us forget the miserable weather. The choice of dishes was very impressive, the won ton soup delicious and the spices in the main courses made our taste buds come alive. All that and a decent sized glass of good quality red wine at a reasonable price - we shall definitely return.

Jackie & Mark

The best Mayalsian restaurant in the UK !!
Never had a bad meal, the food is best Ive ever tasted, we've eaten in some of the worst and best places all over the world, the food here is one of the best. Sometimes if its very busy on a Sat or Fri night, yeah you may have to wait, as it is only a small family run restaurant, but I can tell you it is WELL worth waiting for, you'll be glad you did!! We NEVER hesitate to take family and friends and recommend this restaurant.

Giovanna from Stockport

I have been eating at the Bunga Raya since it opened. It is a very friendly place and the food is great. I have taken fiends and family there on many occasions and we always have a lovely time. Highly recommended.

lois and jeff carter

We have been enjoying the Bunga Raya for some time now after a recommendation by friends. We have brought many of our friends here and not had one single complaint. Peter and his wife Jasmina are very friendly and the food is excellent, all cooked fresh to order - highly recommended.

Chris - Disley

Best Malaysian restaurant in Manchester. The food is authentic and is as close as you can get to having the food in Malaysia. Its Nasi Lemak and Laksa are its signature dishes.

Louis & Gemma

We both love this restaurant, and have been coming here for about two years and never had a bad meal. The food is extremely authentic, we have both been to Malaysia several times and it is the best Malaysian restaurant we’ve been to in the UK. Peter, the owner, is lovely and always makes you feel very welcome and the prices are fantastic. Three course meal for six with drinks was just over £120!!! If you go, you must try the bunga raya duck, and have plenty of sunlik beer!! Top notch place.

Scott & Elaine

My wife and I ate at Bunga Raya before a show at the Plaza. We were impressed by the cosy and simply decorated interior. The speedy and polite service ensured that we had plenty of time left to nip into a pub before the performance. The food was simple, very tasty and unpretentious. Considering the number of gin and tonics we ordered, we were plesantly surprised by the bill. We shall definitely return.

Joan of Stockport

I visit as often as i can. Lovely food, a warm welcome and pleasant service. i lived in Malysia for two years and can vouch for the authenticity of both malay and Chinese dihes.

Christian, Levenshulme

Not good I'm afraid. If you want to wait over 45 minutes for the starter to arrive minus the squid and receive a different main to that ordered and missing a rice then this is for you. Service was polite but focused on the regulars at the expense of new visitors. Food was average and full of salt/MSG. Sweeties on the bar were nice!

bramhall, cheshire

We go to Bunga Raya regularly. The food is superb, especially the crispy duck. The menu is varied and not overpriced, and the house white is good and always well chilled. Peter, the owner, is so friendly he feels like one of the family.Kath & Colin Moody

Alex Stockport

The Bunga Ray is Malaysian, not Thai. So we're talking rendang, not green curry.
It's very friendly, hardly ever too busy and the food is great. Recommended.

John - Stockport

Stumbled upon this place (although I was aware of it from Onionring) one night when intending to eat elsewhere. Needless to say I was happy that our initial intentions were thwarted!

Great, fresh tasting meals with excellent, friendly service. The owner (?) was on hand to discuss our selection and his advise was useful.

A fully enjoyable meal and a bit of a hidden gem. We will be returning.

John Walker from Stockport

The better half and myself eat out regularly and in our opinion the Malaysian food at the Bunga Raya betters that of both Chinese and Thai, many of its delicious offerings being similar to the best of those cuisines. The owners Peter and Jasmine always extend a genuine warm welcome and make you feel like long lost friends. Never been disappointed here and can highly recommend.

Simon from Stockport

I have been to Thailand and the food served here is like going travelling again. The owner is always happy and very friendly. The chairs are not that comfy and it is only small but the food and the exellent service totally make up for it.
