We have visited this restaurant regularly, for lunches and dinner, over the past three years or more. Always a positive experience. Friendly welcome & excellent discreet service. Fresh local produce, well cooked & imaginatively presented. We held a party for 38 there in April 2012. Brilliantly organised ,down to the last detail, excellent attentive service, couldn't have wished for anything better. Highly recommended on every score.

Thank you Martin and Peterine for another wonderful meal - as always!

What a gem ! It's not often you find a gem hidden again in the Cheshire countryside, but Mitchell's in Tattenhall certainly deserves such an accolade.
From the first glass of Merlot served at precisely the right temperature, to a starter of a Fresh Fish Medley served on chilled salad leaves with fresh made dill we knew we were in for a treat.
Little touches like the home made bread, with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and a fresh jug of water already waiting on the table made this a very pleasurable dining experience.
A main course of perfectly cooked Duck breast, and mango salsa, and a generous medley of five fresh vegetables complimented a Sunday roast dinner course of fresh turkey and cranberry sauce. The roasties were fluffy and really hot inside which makes any Sunday roast that little bit special.
Nice additional touch, being offered more vegetables was attentive service without being intrusive.
Had to try the desserts after that and again, the blackcurrant and apple trifle on a whisky base with fresh cream was awesome. The pineapple tower was likewise something very special.
One always finds one little thing that a restaurant could have done better, and on this occasion, the plates could have been hotter. The restaurant tables have granite tops, and so the plates dissipate their warmth very quickly. Tables mats would solve this.
Overall the whole experience was quite superb for an impromptu Sunday lunch... We will definitely return to sample the dinner menu in the very near future.

Global Air Training have been using Mitchells restaurant since Jan 2005 on a very regular basis to host client dinners. Many of our clients come from overseas and are spread worldwide. Over the years, this has made for some very interesting and challenging dietary requirements which without exception Mitchells have always managed to accommodate. The feedback from our clients has always been excellent. Owners Martin and Peterene have worked very hard to achieve and uphold the high standards of service and food quality found at Mitchells. The food is fresh, well prepared and tasty and the service received from Martin is second to none. The overall value for money is exceptional and I would not hesitate to recommend Mitchells as a great place to dine.

Ate here on two consecutive nights while staying in the area. Great meals on both nights.

I hired Mitchells for my 30th birthday on 22nd of August... Martin was very professional and a fantastic host. The food was lovely and service fantastic.. I Have recommended this beautiful wine bar to all my friends and will definitely becoming a regular.

How lucky we are to have such an excellent venue so close by. From the warm welcome, to the splendid service I can fault nothing here at Mitchells. I can honestly say that the food is always, without exception mouthwateringly excellent. You can go out for a special occasion, have a family meal or just pop in for something to eat, and it will always be an enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is convivial with the right amount of background music, and there is a nice bar if you just want to have a drink. Martin and Peterene have got the balance just right.

We had our wedding reception on 9th May 2009 at Mitchells and it was above and beyond anything we could have dreamt of! The venue itself is stunning but for us the level of service we received from the team at Mitchells was exceptional. The team, led by Martin and Peterene, were all fantastic and everything went without a single hitch - they managed to achieve a balance between being on-hand without being intrusive and we would recommend this venue to anyone. No request was too big or small - we trusted them completely and they provided incredible support from the initial booking, right up to the day before the wedding. The food and drink was of top quality and could not be faulted in anyway, our guests were well and truly spoilt!.. Simply fabulous!

Every time we visit Mitchells we wonder "Why don't we come every week?" (Only because we don't want to over-use the baby-sitter!).
Mitchells have got it dead-right. Martin and his team always look genuinely pleased to see you. The food and decor are sophisticated, without being pretentious. The menu is always interesting. Food arrives promptly, without being rushed, and is well balanced & beautifully presented. The prices are good. WE LOVE THIS PLACE!

We have been visiting Michells now for about two years and have taken loads of our friends to enjoy the fantastic food, service, real ale, and wine. We travel for about 50 minutes to get there and it is worth every mile. One of the best dining experiences in Cheshire. I had to write as they have not had a review since April and every one should know about this hidden away place!

Never fails to please! Even more wonderful........ we can walk there!

Came across Mitchells 2 years ago. Since I would estimate that my wife and I plus friends have eaten here on average about 6 times a year. Its is definatley one of the better restaurants in the Chester area, an believe me I've dined in plenty. We have been for special occasions where the chef has done us proud, even cooked a special meal which I fancied, rabbit casserole. My wife's favorite is the duck.Out of this world.Hoping to get in tonight.

We have driven past Mitchells many times and always said we must go there for dinner, well we did last week and it was fantastic, the service was excellent, the food wonderful and the atmosphere just right. I am a chef myself and strongly recommend this restaurant for well priced, delicious food. The chocolate desert I had was increadable, WOW.

Mitchells never lets us down. We thought the excellent Wine Makers Dinner of 6th July would have been hard to beat - ok so we are biased! - but we have been back twice since then and the food and service has been the same very high standard. We'll be back!

A fantastic place that is a must to visit. Warm friendly welcome and very helpful staff. Food is superb, never had a bad meal yet and don't ever expect to! A very relaxed dining atmosphere, would highly recommend to friends! Go now!!!

I love Mitchells and enjoy a Friday lunch as I work in Tattenhall. One Friday I had mushrooms in a cream sauce wrapped in a Tortilla and it was delicious, this is a plea for it to make a reappearance on the menu !!!!

I'm writing this after our second visit to this excellent restaurant but already it has become one of my favourites. It all starts with a warm welcome and a relaxed atmosphere, all too often the frantic nature of running a kitchen spills over to the dining area; not here! Sitting in the wine bar with a drink and complimentary olives while studying the menu is a perfect start. The portions are just right to enjoy 3 courses and there are plenty of comfortable chairs to retire to with a coffee. Can't wait for visit 3!

excellent food and wine and the welcome is excellent too but the wheelchair access!! I had to be lifted up the steps!! Not very wheelchair friendly.
Bunbury
A relaxing family run restaurant with that personal touch of service we all deserve.
The food is excellent, especially the pudding selection which is all home made I believe and to die for!
Terry, Appleton
A really nice relaxing place with excellent service.
Menu's not too big but food was great. Good choice of beers.
