The Lime Tree
Modern, BritishThe Lime Tree, situated on leafy Lapwing Lane in West Didsbury, has been at the top of the list for Manchester gourmets for years. Why? The outstanding food, the easy atmosphere, the ever-changing menu and the extensive wine list.
Chef-patron Patrick Hannity and his team of extremely dedicated chefs prepare the award-winning food, which started out French and over the years has evolved into cutting-edge Modern British.
The menu changes weekly but old favourites are never allowed to go away. Many of the dishes reflect the passing seasons and all ingredients are local wherever possible.
The Lime Tree offers top-drawer fine dining without being in the least bit stuffy – there’s an elegant, bohemian feel to the place and in summer you can experience it al fresco on the terrace.
Wine is a major part of the Lime Tree experience and this is reflected in both the wide choice and in the wines which are chosen weekly to complement the changing menu.
You can now book a table between the hours of 12pm and 7:45pm on Sundays. There is an ala carte menu available all day and an early evening menu available between 5.30 and 6.30.

Great atmosphere, excellent service ...not too over top but attentive. Struggled to find something on menu that I did NOT liike which made it difficult to choose! When the food came you certainly noticed the difference in the quality and chefs abilities. Tasted fantastic. Price was perfect for the quality you get. I save this as my special occasions restaurant and I was reminded why!
Staff very attentive and friendly.
House wine was lovely.
Starters were very good and we hardly had to wait! We had the salmon fishcakes and scallops.
The mains didnt take too long either.
We had the Cheshire Lamb and the Duck.
The lamb was well cooked, but 50% meat and %0 fat, and considering the menu said leg of lamb, i dont think 4-5 tiny pieces suffice (especially for £17.95).
the veg and jus was very good and tasty, however the cottage pie added a very bitter flavour to the overall dish and didn't complement the lamb.
The duck was very well cooked and tasty, the dish overall was very good, and well presented.
We didn't stay for desert.
Overall the evening was nice and there was a pleasant atmosphere.
Quite simply fantastic, the crab canalloni was whit whoo! Not to mention the assiette of duck! As Tina Turner would say SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!!
Simply FANTASTIC ! I took my better half last night 19/6 and we had a beautiful meal. Well done to all involved, great service, lovely atmosphere and the calfs liver with bubble n' squeek - whit whoo!!!!! The crowning glory the chocolate pudding was so,so,so wrong but so right !!!! Million thanks
Excellent early bird offers - would recommend!
my husband and my good self were once again wedged firmly in our seats at the lime tree this week! what keeps us coming back to this place on such a regular basis that you'd have thought we had caught our elastic in the door? simple: this joint does the business with unfailing consistency. the food is marvellous - every morsel intensely tasty, without being overly fussy, and the portions are pretty impressive, too (hence us being "wedged", etc). add smashing service and a relaxed vibe that says "anything goes" on the dress code front, and you have what this place surely is - deservedly one of manchester's finest eateries, and one that us mancs should be justly proud.
I have eaten in this restaurant on a number of occasions and have to say that it is head and shoulders above any other restaurant in Cheshire. The food is consistently of an extremely high standard (and by no means over priced) and the service is always excellent. Be warned that you tend to have to book three to four weeks in advance for a friday/saturday evening due to its popularity. However it is well worth the wait.
We had a business lunch at the Lime Tree yesterday. We all went for the 3 course day time set menu. The food was just fantastic, especially the Goats Cheese starter. The service was warm, happy and happily unpretentious. A fantastic relaxed meeting was had by all, we will definitely use the Lime Tree again.
