Isinglass
English
Isinglass is an English restaurant. Not in the St George’s flag sense, but well-travelled enough to enjoy our real eccentricities.
We put the food grown and reared in the lush countryside ringing Manchester on our menu, all year round. Simple as. Only that takes a lot more imagination and frankly old school cooking skill from our kitchen, some historical depth rather than banging out cooked-chill or frozen meals from a big food distributor. So when the last asparagus or yellow courgette is picked in Cheshire it’s off the menu. That’s why it’s not laminated. And that’s why the food is fresh, cooked to enhance not mask it’s natural flavours.
Award winning restaurant with an excellent reputation. The menu changes every 6-8 weeks to incorporate the best of what's in season.

We visited Isinglass tonight as a treat for my partners birthday. The food was wonderful - great presentation, good selection and beautifully cooked. Great, relaxed atmosphere and the waitress was very welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be returning. Thanks :)

Excellent food, service was a bit slow but as the food was so good, it was worth the wait! I have eaten here before when the restaurant was owned by someone else-that was a good number of years ago and it has taken us a long time to give it another go- I will definitely eat here again and again'

We live nearby, and have enjoyed many an evening at Isinglass. So much so, that when we got engaged we decided to have our wedding reception at Isinglass. Rachel and Anthony were great through the planning stage, on the day itself, and afterwards when we went to collect our cake etc.
We were able to sit down and plan our meal, exactly as we wanted it (with expert guidance and suggestions as to what would work) rather than pick from a list of pre-set options as so many venues ask you to do.
Anthony is also a sommelier and was able to guide us towards a fantastic selection of wines that would work with our food selection. The only trouble we had was that we couldn't decide betweeen some of them, so we opted to go for a different wine with each course so we got to enjoy more of them!
Rachel was very helpful with regards to the logistics of the day and table layouts, decorations etc.
We were delighted to see how lovely the restaurant looked when we arrived after the ceremony and all the waiting staff were great throughout the evening.
The room upstairs was ideal for our disco afterwards, and downstairs was set up for those who didn't fancy a dance.
We had a fabulous time at Isinglass, and are still receiving comments from guests months later about the quality of the food and wine.
Many people have commented that it was the best food they have had at a wedding. A number of guests have also told us they felt the restaurant had a lovely intimate, relaxed atmosphere.
We are really pleased we chose Isinglass for our wedding reception, and would have no hesitation recommending it if you are looking for a small reception (we had 42 people in total) with fabulous food, great wine, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere.

Having looked at the menu the previous day and picked what I would be having, I was disappointed to find that they had no scallops, even though we were the first customers of the day. That would be my only complaint...that and the fact that the food was lukewarm, not hot.

Fantastic good, great ambience and a wonderful hostess. A true gem and highly recommended.

Top class, modern English restaurant. stuff your chain rubbish, this is the place for great food making the best of local produce. The only reason i've not given 10 is I think they could be even more adventurous and try something like this place www.stjohnrestaurant.co.uk

Fantastic service and excellent food, would recommend if you want something truely top notch!

I have dined here twice and both times were excellent in terms of staff friendless and food served. It makes a refreshing change to eat in a thouroughly English restaurant that demonstrates the same high standards as some of our better known European cuisines are renowned for. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and were more than happy to make sensible recommendations when choosing the wine. A favourite for both a quick bite to eat and a the full dining experience.

A fantastic meal in a delightfully relaxed atmosphere. The standard of food and service was excellent. Would highly recommend to friends and family.

Fantastic food and service. Great restaurant. The early dining menu was fantastic value and we all said how well cooked the food was. Great stuff.

Drove over to Urmston last night to have a very special evening at Isinglass. The food was fantastic - black pudding drop scone was the main starter chice followed by the 8oz rib eye steak, shich was cooked to perfection. Forced down a sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream ice-cream. Finished off with an Irish coffee and a couple of Verdingers! great stuff.

I have dined here a number of times since it has opened and have never had a bad meal. The food is always exceptional and beautifully presented and is all sourced locally with the menu changing every 6 weeks dependant on what is available.
Prices are reasonable but not cheap however the quality shines through and makes it worth it, also there are early evening menus, lunch menus and sunday lunches at £7.95 for a delicous roast dinner with no washing up.
The staff are always friendly and can answer any questions about the menu however if it is busy service can be a little slow but as I am not in a hurry when dining here I don't find this a problem.
I have also had a large family meal here and the upstairs private dining room is great for this type of event - making it seem like you are all at home without the hassle of someone cooking.

We dined here last Tuesday with some discerning friends from the Cayman Isles. What a feast. Beautiful food, different tastes, beautifully presented and served and at very reasonable prices. This restaurant is in our top 10

Party of six of us dined all enjoyed our evening, great food, relaxed atmosphere. Will be back again.

Very good restaurant, with a menu that changes every 6 weeks. All food is locally sourced. Staff great, and very attentive. Only potential downside is its location, opposite a rowdy bar/club. Our companions felt uneasy leaving their car outside. Still, you can always get a taxi. Recommended.

What a great restaurant! The fillet steak was fantastic, really tasty with some great flavours. The menu features lots of local produce and is really interesting. Good service aswell. Great stuff!

arrived without a booking. Food was great. Starter of pork & bread & butter pudding & pickles was gorgeous. Service was good, really friendly atmosphere.

Having dined at Isinglass well into double figures since the restaurant opened I have yet to find a fault. As someone who has a dietary need I always find the staff helpful in this regard. The variation of flavours and creative meals is exceptional. In my experience Isinglass does not fail to deliver. The quality of service is professional, friendly and polite. The warm atmosphere, beautiful food and unobtrusive staff leave a feeling of being welcomed to enjoy your dining experience. There is always an ambiance of feeling it is just you and your partner/party who are in the room. I understand that being a Virgo I can be critical -Isinglass has me stumped! However, if I do have to scramble around to find a fault it is that everybody else has heard about it and I have to sometimes book in advance!

Last minute booking for eight people (8NO) on Tuesday night.
Food excellent
Service very poor - arrived at 7.0pm served main course between 9.15pm and 9.30pm.
Informed that there was only one chef - shouldn't have accepted booking if not able to cope.
I was also checking out the restaraunt for my firms xmas dinner as we are based in the village - would only use again if I was assured that the service is better.
Regards,
John
