Phanthong

Thai

Phanthong is Altrincham’s new Thai Restaurant where we aim to bring you the Finest Thai food in the comfortable, fresh surroundings of the newly renovated Regent Road, former ‘Grapes’, premises. We are blessed with a large public car park at the rear which is free-of-charge after 6:00pm and also on Sundays.

Our vision was to have a light and airy venue, where there are not too many tables crammed in, for our staff to create a friendly happy atmosphere and to offer authentic Thai food at prices that are a fair balance between the need to be profitable yet to use the best quality and freshest ingredients that we can possibly lay our hands on.

Visitors to Thailand often return with their lasting impressions being the warmth and friendliness of Thai people – with their natural, happy smiling faces, plus a fondness for the food that needs to sated. We hope to be able to remind you of your visit to Thailand, or maybe stir you into going!

Great meal service and lovely decor and thai dresses, a must!!

Jonny Hewitt

We went for the first time on saturday 21st July meeting up with 6 friends. I live in Altrincham and remember when the restuarant used to be a pub called The Grapes and it was not a nice place to visit. So on entering, the decor was a welcome surprise and felt very relaxed. The team were happy to wait while we all arrived and gave us a while to chat and have a couple of drinks before ordering. We were quite boring in our starters which was a mixed starter banquet and were demolished with gusto. For mains we all ordered our own, I could have ordered everything so decided to ask what dish the chef was most proud of cooking which was the sea bass in chilli, it was fabulous and I enjoyed every mouthful. The rest of our table ordered thai curries and other mains, all eaten with gusto. We had desserts too, again demolished with gusto. I would heartily recommend Phanthong, and to be honest I preferred it to a certain other thai restuarant in Hale. I am delighted to see a restaurant thriving in Altrincham - long may it continue! I look forward to going back.

Great news, Phanthong do take away as well! We've had two now and the standard of food is as good as eating in the restaurant, which we've also done twice! Give it a go. Rachel

What a fantastic meal! We felt welcome from the moment we stepped through the door and were shown to our table. The staff are attentive and helpful and recommended what to try on the menu.
The food was delicious and very different from the normal run-of-the mill Thai choices.
Would definitely recommend a visit!

Phanthong has only recently opened in Altrincham and has opened up in what used to be The Grapes on Regent Road. They've kept the lovely exterior inkeeping with Regent Road, and the interior is absolutely spotless, immaculate and beautifully well lit.

I am a big fan of Thai food and often try cooking it at home, but Phanthong's Green Curry (Chicken) comes nowhere near anything I'd be able to do. It was delicious and rich, but definitely not too creamy. I had mine with noodles and there was plenty of sauce, so lots to soak up. (The sauce was just the right consistency too).

All round, it was perfect. Great wine too. I had the house red. I will definitely be revisiting, but next time I will try the selection of starters.

(I'm also intrigued to try the hot tea drink that was served in a glass but contained an orchid).

I've been fortunate enough to dine in some of the very best Thai restaurants in Bangkok and I can honestly say that the food served at Phanthong is just as good and should make other more established Thai restaurants in Greater Manchester look to up their game! Service, presentation, quantity and quality of food were first class. This restaurant deserves much success and if you don't try their sea bass fillet with dry curry sauce you're missing out!

Popped in for lunch, when my wife and I had an unexpected day off together. Great service, wonderfully presented food tasted exceptional too. Lunch menu small choice but adequate. Will definitely be returning for an evening meal.

Chris, Altrincham

We really enjoyed the food, this was complemented with a warm welcome and friendly service.
We will definitely be regular visitors !

Nick, Alty

Thought we should try this new restaurant. We found the food was overall very good, service friendly and efficient and all-in-all it is a very good restaurant. We needed a decent Thai option in Altrincham too!

Paul, Hale

This is a fab new addition to the Altrincham/Hale scene. The premises have been transformed and the food is easily as good as Chaophraya or any of the other Manchester Thai restaurants. Service was impeccable (although not the place for a very quick meal) and overall I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Mark

Took family for impromptu dinner Saturday night. Warm greeting by well presented staff. Nicely designed interior decor (modern clean lines but with traditional feel also). All food was first class - really excellent. For those in the know - food quality as good as Chilli Club was before it closed down but decor and ambiance way better.

d. bond, manchester

baggio, altrincham
