Had a roast dinner (beef, cooked beautifully pink) here on Sunday and I've got to say it was one of the nicest meals out I've had in a long, long time! From the moment we entered the door, the staff greeted us like old friends and were as attentive until we left. The homemade yorkshire pudding was amazing, as was the gravy. Finished off with a sticky toffee pudding, this is definitely a restaurant I will be returning too. Already booked in for Boxing Day!!

Adrian Hannah from Warrington

We've been coming here for a couple of weeks now and have had a wonderful meal each time, The Italian host made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in, as did the other staff. Mike who works behind the bar, deserves a special mention for his friendly banter during our visits.
The meals, especially the fish were cooked to perfection every time, and with a starter and main course from only £7, exceptional good value.

Mandy, Altrincham

I really like this restaurant. It's very homely and warm. My husband and I brought our children for a nice meal as a treat and it is perfect. Definate value for money and the staff are lovely. Very accomodating of the kids as well. Definitely will be going back!

Sarah Wiltshaw

I just wanted to write a quick note as to how wonderful this restaurant is! Staff are fantastic!! Italian manager is brilliant and really made us feel welcome straight away. He adds a real charm to the place. Food was delicious and service with a smile from the lovely dark haired bar man! Can't wait to go again!!

Michael Bowden

I took my Fiancee there to celebrate last Thursday, my fiancee stuck to the 2 course deal with was great value, and her pork belly was amazing and so crispy, i went for their steak deal which was cooked perfectly to the way i like. I didn't know there would be entertainment but what a pleasant surprise, and he even sang our song for us.
What a perfect night, I would recommend to everyone.

Mrs M, Altrincham

Held an event or 90 people here at the weekend. The staff were brilliant and every single portion of the two course meal was faultless. have also eaten here separately and the food was delicious and great value for money. Will definitely be back.

Jo Wilkinson Sale

I can recommend HOME, my mother sadley passed away in February, we had food and drinks at HOME after the service. We felt that is was a celebration for our mother, the food, drinks service and atmosphere was excellant, our mother would have been proud, so well done to Chris and all his staff.!!!

Dave Beresford

We enjoyed a very tasty teatime snack sitting in the sun outside this roadside hostelry. Quick, pleasant service added further to our spur of the moment nip out for a bite in the sun.

keith

great service and lovely food good value for money will return

Cindy, Sale

I went for a xmas lunch at home and I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the food exceptional but with a price tag of £11.00 for a 3 course meal you cant go wrong!

I would recommend Home to everyone I know, its a gem!!

val wych

Very relaxing. Superb food and welcoming staff. Cant ask for more than that....will deffo return!

John Fenton, Bowdon

Does it get any better than HOME at lunchtime. Where can you eat so well for so little. Just had guinea fowl, stuffed with mushrooms and wrapped in bacon. Gorgeous. My wife had the sea bass with a superb risotto. good starters and sweets. Staff genuinely delightful. Lovely location and comfortable surroundings. Way ahead of the chains, find this place. Terrific value

Geoff and Hazel Clarke CHEADLE

We had to do some shopping in Stockport, then decided to go to the Barn Owl, for lunch, we arrived at exactly 1428, to be told, sorry last food order 1430,even mentioning we travelled from Cheadle did not help, so decided to try Home we had passed on our way, what a good decision, warm welcome, shown to our table, friendly staff, had the meal deal 2 courses for £6.00, and really good food, quality ale, and good coffee,Have recommended to friends and we WILL be going back

Alan Dobson Lymm

Went to Home at 8.00 pm on July 5th for a meal only to be told that the kitchen was closed - business was so quiet. We left - and won't be going back. Went instead to the Bears Paw at High Legh - had an excellent meal.

Nick

We called in after work. The offer had changed but the food was still delicious and loved the additional Specials board. Great value, good atmosphere, really good food!

Jilly, Stretford

We went to Home tonight to try their fixed price menu - if you haven't been, try it, excellent value, brilliant food and great service. I'm always a bit dubious about 'offers', but this one is a great find, we are going back next week.

Chris & Carolyn Sale

Visited Home again for our Valentines meal. The super credit crunch £6 menu still applied and we yet again had a fabulous 2 course meal. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, the food has always been fantastic on every visit we have made and the staff are great. Our 4 year old is also always made very welcome. Please go and try Home - its well worth the visit!

Louisa

With excellent staff, beautiful food and such an exceptional price, I will 100% be returning and recommending this place to all my friends and family.

Dylan, Manchester

Popped in for lunch on Friday and had a fantastic meal for such a low cost! Three of us had two courses and drinks and it cost less than £30! Will certainly be returning to try the rest of this diverse menu which had excellent specials too - still can't believe that 2 courses only cost £6 - cheaper than eating at home (maybe that's why it's called Home)!

chris/knutsford

I love this place, we go at least once a week now, never booked but always get a table, I just think they charge too much for the kids meals so we now get a special 2 course for him, but still love it!

Steve, Warrington

Shock horror - the £5 menu has gone up to £6! I got there just before closing and had to be out within half an hour to meet a plane, and chose accordingly. Nice ribs as a starter (a special) and the chef hadn't gone mad with the sugar in the sauce - pity, I love that sweet taste! The fish (bass) was fine. Nice glass of wine. Then just wait for the call to say they've landed - it's 10 minutes from Manchester Airport.

Ken McD, Warrington

Fantastic value and great food!
I chose 'Home' on the recommendation of OnionRing and due to it's proximity to a lovely B&B.
Feeling a little tentative - what can you get for £5 - we found a pleasant ambiance and attentive staff - the place was full of diners.

The £5 menu for two courses is no joke. We wondered what the quality of food would be but were more than pleasantly surprised. My wife had the vegetable soup followed by the Italian chicken casserole and I had the grilled black pudding followed by the slow roast belly pork. Portion sizes were not large but were adequate - neither of us could manage desert (an extra £3 each). The food was definitely home cooked and of great quality.

Complete with a bottle of wine, the meal was £24.75 for everything. I just couldn't believe it!!!

If I had any complaint, it would be the relatively early last sitting. They recommend that you book, and I can see why as it was full, but the latest time we could book for was 7.30pm / 7.45pm. After saying that, the meal was in no way hurried, in fact, it was very relaxed.

If you want somewhere local to stay, I would strongly recommend you look at Ash Farm Country Guest House. Not the cheapest B&B in the world, but only 4 minutes walk away and fantastic quality... see the reviews!

To sum up what we thought of 'HOME'.... it was GREAT. Definitely worth trying before you disregard it on the basis of price!

Matt, Altrincham

This is the first place I've been to purely on reviews from Onion Ring. I wouldn't have known it was there otherwise, but its only a few minutes from Altrincham. Like many of the other reviews, I was expecting a catch but they really did server top notch food for £5. The starters were not mighty portions, but just right. Would have been happy to pay at least double. Hurry - The price is going up to £6 at the start of September.

P Kimber, Lymm

The 'Two Courses for £5' deal is astonishingly good value. The food was well cooked and attractively presented, the portions generous. I had the button mushrooms as a starter, and this dish was a meal in itself - the Stilton sauce was delicious. I could happily have gone straight to pudding, but there was the main course to come: fillet of sea bass on a bed of prawn couscous. As I ate I couldn't help wondering how on earth they managed to produce a meal of this quality for the price.
I have driven past 'Home' hundreds of times on my way to Altrincham and never thought of eating there, but today's excellent lunch has made me think again.

Lizzie, Sale

Hi, me again! Another very enjoyable family meal at Home, taking advantage of the FANTASTIC fixed price menu deal. The deal itself is quite remarkable but there is no apparent compromise on portion size or quality of food. The staff provide an excellent service, especially our Italian friend (I'll get his name next time). I went on a Wednesday night this time and I was delighted to see all the efforts Home have made to bring the punters in has paid off. The restaurant was full.

Lizzie, Sale

We visited Home again for lunch on Monday. Value for money is an understatement. The choice and quality of the food were excellent. I chose prawn cocktail for starter, belly pork with crackling on a bed of bubble & squeak and mustard sauce for main course and creme brulee with summerfruit compote for dessert. We shared a jug of Pimms, which was absolutely delicious. There is no better feeling than having just eaten a beautiful meal. I cannot recommend this restaurant high enough. You just have to go.

Liz in Timperley

we went yesterday for the credit crunch menu. you get a starter and a main course for £5. I have to say it was fantastic! the quality of the food and the presentation was outstanding. We had 2 young children with us and they were very accommodating. A lovely place....

Chris

Visited 'Home' yesterday and enjoyed their 2 courses for £5 deal. For this money you might expect some compromise in quality, choice, portion size etc. Not at all, the quality was superb. I'll be going back again and again. I can't recommend this offer high enough.

mrs green, helsby

Went to this restaurant last night to try the credit crunch £5 for 2 two courses offer. Absolutely brilliant food, haven't been anywhere lately where you would get better value for money. Service swift and friendly.

Jayne Manchester

Food excellent, atmosphere perfect, choice on the menu first class, waitress service treated as if you were the only people there. The only thing that spoilt the evening was the head waiter who was arrogant, condescending and damn right rude.I have been in the catering industry all my life and have never come across a head waiter that made you feel uncomfortable and small.Fortunately we enjoyed the food and atmosphere and will give the place a second visit maybe he was having an off day!!!

Elizabeth

I was looking for a suitable venue for a family meal to celebrate a milestone birthday. I chose Home based on the location and the many positive reviews received on Onion Ring. One of the most important criteria in choosing a restaurant was that we could all be seated together. As there were 17 of us this could have proved to be very difficult if not impossible. Not only could Home fit us in they had a room just for us. We arrived last night to find a fabulous long room with one long table and funky leopard print chairs. It had a real intimate and cosy feel about it. We were very well looked after and the food was excellent. We had such a wonderful time and they made it such a special occasion for us. This is a little gem of a restaurant.

Chris & Michael Edwards, Altrincham

went Fri 17th July for early evening meal
Excellent choice, well cooked and well presented by great staff.
Would definitely recommend, having been many times, including 2 birthday parties

Su Lewis in Lymm

An amazing place. We attended a Wedding at this venue. The food was delicious and filling. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing was a problem for them. They kept our drinks filled up and made our day easy for us to enjoy.

Thank you so much for such a fabulous day. I have been to many weddings at many dufferent venues. You were certainly one of the best!

Danielle Shields, Timperley

We visited Home to celebrate my mum's 60th birthday. There were 10 people in our party, including my two children, and the experience was all very positive. The staff were friendly and helpful, and very apologetic when two of the puddings were off the menu! As with my first visit to Home, the restaurant was inexplicably quiet. The quality of food at Home is exceptional, and the beautiful sun garden a lovely place to chill out with a drink. I would recommend it to anyone.

Pat Dunbar, Timperley

We had an excellent meal here on Sunday. The food was really exceptional, well cooked and nicely presented. This was our second visit and unfortunately the experience did not get off to a good start by the initial service when we were sat at our table, almost a repeat performance of our first visit! We had our drink's order taken immediately but after waiting 10/15 minutes and watching other diners receive their drinks immediately we had to chase the order up. This does tend to put you in a bad frame of mind to enjoy the visit. It was still another 5 minutes before our drinks arrived. Fortunately for Home the food and service after this initial hiccup was first rate and the staff really pleasant and helpful. We will definitely visit again and hope that it will be a case of third time lucky and our drinks will appear shortly after the order. My husband and I eat out every Sunday and are quite prepared to wait for a meal to be cooked but do like to sit with a drink whilst waiting and not have to ask twice.

stella, warrington

Went to Home at Little Bollington between 6 and 7 and they had a special price 2 courses for £9, it was excellent value. Good choice of starters and main courses or desserts. Nice setting with helpful staff. Local ale and foreigh lagers.
Good wines. The steak and kidney pie was very tasty. Worth another visit sometime in the future,

Simon Cheshire

Lovely wine, amazing table to table magician, steak fillet and steak ribeye in beautiful creamy sauce. Service willing to please. Only saw it driving by in passing, would go again for a very special night out.

Tony Lymm

I took my wife for a birthday meal at 'Home' little Bollington. Great food! really nice staff and great music! particular The California Bums' who play the coolest music I've ever heard in a Restaurant!

Mavis Bretnall

On Monday 18th June we visited HOME for lunch
with 4 friends, 6 of us in total. We all agreed the food was superb. We all ate from the set "Lunch Menu" was very, very good and an adequate variety. 3 of us had lamb with Goats Cheese Tart, absolutely delicious. 2 had
Salmon which again very fresh and delightful. One had Chicken Ceasar Salad, which was beautiful. The presentation of the food was a work of art. The price was extremely good
considering the quality, freshness and presentation of the food The Staff were excellent, very helpful, courteous and friendly.
WILL CERTAINLY BE GOING AGAIN AND WOULD RECOMMEND
ANYBODY TO TRY IT. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

Louise, Flixton

Just passing by and realised that the old Stamford Arms was gone and 'Home' was in its place. Entered nervously expecting yet again deep fried pub food ..however was very impressed with the decor and even more so with the food, both in taste and presentation (I'm an ex- restaurant manager for a four star hotel and know my food!) but what impressed me the most was the staff! They actually cared both about my food, my family and their jobs. Although we took our chldren and they were made to feel very welcome next time I will leave them at home as this place really is a haven to chill in, More sophisicated than your local yet inviting - A friendly 'Home'!

Macclesfield

Went to Home last Friday and was very impressed. Lovely decor, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. The table we were offered initially was next to the walk-through to the toilets, so we asked to be moved and they did this no problem. The goats cheese and portobello mushroom to start was delicious, as was the Lamb Henry main course - the lamb literally fell off the bone! Not a huge selection of puddings, but the lemon tart was very tasty. There is an impressive selection of 'light bites' and sandwiches on the day time menu, so would be a lovely spot to go and do the 'ladies what lunch' thing! Would definitely go back.

jill altrincham

excellent night out here. amazing food , outstanding for a pub. great fresh light menu. great service and environment. highly recommended

Lyndsey Cleaver from Knutsford

My husband and I went to the Home restaurant for the first time on Valentines night and we had a lovely evening. The restaurant is spotless clean, the staff really polite and efficient and the food was excellent. There was a live singer on, who was also very good and all the valentines’ decor looked really nice. We will definitely be visiting again in the future.

Ann & Rik, Colwyn Bay

Took family from Manchester her for afternnon meal to celebrate my mum's 60th birthday. We were very impressed with the location and lay out of the establishment. The decor was very funky with zebra patterned padded antique effect seats. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The service was amazing, the manager was assisting which gave you a sense of professional attention and genuine interest in your custom. The food was out of this world...cooked to perfection. The 6 of us were sampling and drooling at the variety of sumptuious tases and colours which were beautifully presented. The french bar steward knew his wines and was a great at finding exactly the tipple you fancied. The bathrooms were clean and well presented ( very important!)
Over all we all had a great time and will definately go back there again...just wished we lived nearer! Highly recommend.

jayne, northwich

came 31 oct and bought friends from australia, fab service and food, the best they had had in england

Lymm

My Husband and I dined at this establishment last Friday, 29 September 2006 and had a wonderful evening. The food was excellent, the staff were pleasant and accommodating, though not overpowering, the ambiance was relaxing and the entertainment were brilliant. We dine out regularly and both of us have been in the Catering / Restaurant business previously so, I suppose it is a habit to look out for certain things but we came away from “HOME” eager to return in the very near future.

John Sheil

Had a fantastic night at home last Friday going again on Saturday. Had a great evening meal followed by live music and disco. The concept is fantastic, the new manager and staff giving the ex 'Stamford Arms' a welcoming and professional slick charisma.
