Dave M Wrexham

excellent service, excellent food, would recommend anyone to try the Vic..

Nikky, Northwich

Had a superb meal again yesterday. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is relaxed. The service was perfect as always. The Victoria is Michelin recommended, but really with it should have a star for its food and ambience.
A truly great Food & Gin Palace (other drinks are available).

Caroline. Timperley

We have eaten here three times and are looking forward to our fourth visit this weekend. Each time we have left feeling truly spoilt and almost speechless both at the standard of service and the outstanding quality of food we have devoured. The menu is always imaginative and mouthwateringly creative. Our only problem is deciding which of the dishes to choose. Every time we find ourselves questioning why on earth the Victoria hasn't been given Michelin status . The atmosphere is always warm and jovial without excessive background 'noise' which means it is easy to enjoy having a conversation with those around the table. The staff are attentive but not obtrusive and the waiting time between courses is exactly as it should be; neither rushed nor too long. The choice of wines and beers is superb as is the knowledge of the staff who are always happy to suggest suitable choices.
Altrincham is lucky to be the home of, in our opinion, the best eaterie in the UK!!

Liverpool

I have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions and have always enjoyed the visit. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent.

It is well worth a visit.

Kirsty, Sale

Visited this restaurant after being referred, and it was fabulous. Great service, ambience and wonderful food and drink. They list the suppliers they use for locally sourced food which is good to see. Good meat, fish and vegetarian selection also.
Great experience, good balance of upscale pub, with gastro food and drink. Great if you like good Belgium tap beer and excellent wine. Will definitely return!

Claire, Altrincham

We had a meal for 5 people at the Victoria on Christmas Day. The food was amazing - all locally sourced and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was lovely - i felt like i was in an old Christmas movie. Think it might become an annual tradition!

Fiona, London

The food was delicious. I had the duck hot pot for main and would definitely recommend it. The restaurant was a little quiet, shame more people weren't enjoying the food food. Staff attentive and friendly

Clive, Altrincham

Great Food, Great Service, Great Staff

Nick, Alty

Had a wonderful meal there last night. The quality and size of the dishes is far superior to anything nearby. We will definitely be returning soon!!

Ian and George

Absolutely wonderful, incredible food and outstanding service. Been twice now the first time we just turned up and we managed to get a table the second time we booked. The crab cakes are to die for, for main course the liver is amazing and so is the chicken and broad bean pie in a suet pastry cant wait to return....very soon

Kate, Sale

Had a lovely evening out here with 2 friends. The food was divine and plenty of it, the atmosphere was cosy and comfortable, very relaxed. Service also excellent - waiter knew his champagnes! We thoroughly enjoyed the Louis Roederer! Will definitely return.

Steve Hale

Dropped in for a late lunch and feasted from the bar menu, the starters from the full service menu - fabulous and fantastic value. The whole package was what was required and a welcome change from a busy bar selling rock-bottom-priced beer with the footie blaring in the background and poor food. With one person running the whole front of house part of the operation the place was spotless and the service was professional yet friendly. An independent oasis in a desert of big brewery mediocracy. Definitely a place to bookmark.

Nikky, Northwich

Had a superb meal here after it was recommended by a friend. The food is delicious and the service friendly but unobtrusive. Will definitely go back.

Julia&Pete , Sale

Can't believe I actually want to write a review about a pub that I always thought of as a real dive! This place has to be the best place to eat in the whole of Altrincham. The food is truly amazing and the whole experience of dining there is fabulous. You'd be doing yourself a huge favour by trying it. Would advise booking as it tends to get quite busy. Always a good sign!

Mark, Altrincham

Great food, attentive staff. Really love the imaginative starters, could choose two or three. Portion sizes are healthy, so its always a stretch for pudding. highly recommended, and a real treat to have this within walking distance!

Lou Altrincham

Great service, friendly and warm. Starter and main course were amazing. Best food I have had locally by far. Dessert was not bad but did not wow me. Usual story, restaurant not prioritsing desserts. Only other gripe was more subdued lighting would add to the ambience.

chris and cat , bowdon

Our favorite local restaurant and boy do we like eating out. Local produce with a north western edge done with flair, imagination and talent. The nicest and most sociable front of house you will find for miles. Great wine and good beer. The only frustration is arriving at desert with every intention of indulging only to find yourself completely stuffed! I challenge anyone to go for an early evening drink, look at the menu and not say 'you haven't got room for two have you?'. Try.

Ruth and Dick, Amersham

Four of us ate here a couple of weekends ago. A real find, tucked away in a corner of Altrincham. Short but unusual and imaginative menu; great ambiance and very friendly but unfussed service. BE warned - the portions are a good size!

Emilia, Chorlton

Amazing. Ate just after Christmas with my friends. One of the best meals I have ever had. My only problem was I could hardly fit in my pudding. I did though and the Black Forrest Sundae I had was so delicious I would have gone back the next day for more if I could. Go to the Victoria you will not regret it. This place is a hidden gem.

Anne, Timperley

Visited for lunch again and enjoyed ourselves just as much as on the previous occasions. Lovely, freshly prepared local produce, beautifully presented and served. Why go further afield when you have this on your doorstep?

Sarah, Timperley

we went for my birthday last week and the food was as good as usual, but the chef is rather overfond of creamy sauces, also I wasn't expecting onion and cider soup to be cream-based, so it was a bit rich to follow that with fisherman's pie.

Altrincham

WOW! Sumptuous fayre and I have eaten some borage in my time!

Steve, Altrincham

The food is fantastic! I've eaten in all the places in Altrincham and the quality of the food and presentation here is the best by a mile!

Linda & John Timperley

It's our favourite place to eat and we are never disappointed with the food or the service. They have introduced us to some lovely wines as well. All in all a great place to dine. Bring on the first Michelin star!

Daniel

Absolutely fantastic! The food was exceptional, black pudding starter in particular. Shame I was too full to fit a dessert in, maybe next time!

Liverpool

Excellent service the food is always good and staff efficient and friendly.

altrincham

Fantastic, we've been going since it opened, and the Vic never disappoints. Excellent and imaginative food and superb staff.

John farrell altrincham

In a town full of gastro pubs this is by far the best food perfect menus to please every palate. The service is 5 star along with the food. By far the best gastro pub in the northwest

Janet, Timperley

Never disappoints! We went to the Summer Gourmet Evening last night and it was fantastic. Great clever menu and the usual high standard of food. Can't wait for the next one! Well done and thank you to Rachel, Kev and all the staff!

Lisa Timperley

The vic is our favourite restaurant ever! like a lot of restaurants they start off well and then standards etc slip, well not at the VIC as the chef is so passionate about his dishes and you are never dissapointed. Try it as it's excellent!

Helen, Timperley

Went to the Victoria on Sunday lunchtime for my birthday and Mothers' day. The food and wine were both excellent, as was the service. I had the ham and egg starter and the steak and kidney pudding main course - I would heartily recommend both of them.

Paul McCormick

Visited the Vic on friday the 13th. Had one of the best steaks ever. My lady had the pheasant very nice to. All in all an excellent meal the staff are very pleasant and attentive. Will definitely visit again. Thank you

Caroline Sale

Amazing! This is our 4th visit to The Victoria and we were not disappointed. The belly pork spring rolls and pork main were delicious. I'm the only veggie and my blackpudding scone was out of this world...in fact at the beginning Jan I had a problem with the Veggie option in that I HATE Veggie Haggis..and that was the option! Anyway I explained and the chef made me an amazing pasty instead. The service is fabulous and the wine lovely! Friendly and knowledgable front of house staff, and they are more than happy to suggest fabulous meal choices! One of the best restaurants in the area! There are previous comments about the price - I think that it is well worth the money and they also do have Early Diner specials which make it even more enticing!

Pat Dunbar

Hubby and I, our two children and partners, had a special get together meal on the 20th prior to me going into hospital. We chose The Victoria after hearing good things about it. We were not disappointed. The food was beautifully presented, well cooked and a dream to taste, the service was perfect, and the ambience great. We couldn't see that there was anything to fault. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and would highly recommend this restaurant to all and sundry. My son and wife, who live and work in London were really amazed and very impressed with everything about The Victoria, as were we all! Carry on the good work, we shall certainly return and recommend to family and friends.

Liverpool

Friendly staff, excellent food, fine wine - a relaxing enjoyable experience each time we have visited the restaurant.

Mike,Timperley

fantastic food, you would go a long way to find better.
friendly atmosphere and staff

dave sandbach

Went here as we saw how good it was on onion ring, perhaps the best three course lunch i have ever had .Me and my wife shall be going back, other venues could learn a lot from the staff at the Victoria. If i had to rate it, it would be 15 out of 10 . thankyou Victoria....

Graham, Timperley

A real treat! There is always a very warm welcome, and as regular customers our favourite drinks often arrive at our table before we have removed our coats and sat down.

It also appeals to all ages, our teenage grandchildren love to go for a meal there as well.

The menus are always inventive using the best of local produce and are always beautifully presented.

Mark&Mary, Sale

We went to the Victoria because we got rid of our teenage son for the night, wanted to go out to eat and couldn't get in Earle, Hale or Alberts shed, Castlefields. We were the lucky ones.
Excellent pint of real ale and a very nice glass of house white whilst we looked at the menu Everyones meal looked great as we sat there. We opted for Goats cheese on potato cake and black pudding scotch egg. My wife didn't like the goats cheese, but that was taste and not quality. The scotch egg was great and really unusual. Mains was Salmon Wellington and Rose veal pudding, with home made chips. The salmon was great, the pudding was excellent and the chips were thick, soft and able to soak any sauce up. Only downside was they weren't as crispy as I would have liked (maybe kept warm too long?)
We had a bottle of red with the meal. Fantastic. So like a Chateauneuf it was one, but not as pricey.
Asked if we wanted desserts, but neither of us could manage one.
We went back out into the rain complete and happy.
Lovely venue, fantastic staff and superb food.

Cheryl Runcorn Cheshire

Lovely evening, very welcoming and the food was fantastic. I was spoilt for choice, but had the chicken Liver and bacon salad followed by the Rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection. The chips are to die for and the Hollandaise sauce was lovely and buttery. My husband had the Beer battered sardines followed by the Mutton hot pot, which he thought was fantastic and he was estatic that The Victoria had Speckled Hen on draft. We had no room left to have a desert, next time hopefully?
The only down side I had was that the room was very warm, but that was probably because of how busy it was and no wonder it was an all round great night.

Matt, Altrincham

We had our Christmas do here for the second year running, and once again it was fantastic. The food was served to a very high standard too all of us, and the service was happy and knowledgeable to keep us supplied with wine. Top stuff.

Gary, Altrincham

I have eaten here dozens of times and never once had a bad meal.

The reception you get is first class as is the food and you're made to feel genuinely welcome.

By far the best in Altrincham and Hale!

Mark, Altrincham

My wife and I eat out at least once a week and have grown tired of the local restaurants which are either chains or think a few sofas and chandeliers will hide distinctly average food for high prices.

We are now regular visitors at the Victoria which is, in a word, outstanding. The food is delicious and inventive, with high quality, local ingredients offering amazing value for money. The sunday roast is as good as you would cook at home. The wine list is more than adequate and again, good value. The interior is comfortable, clean and spacious and the staff take an interest in not only you the customer's enjoyment, but also in the food and drink they are selling and are able to discuss in depth all the ingredients on the menu. What a change from the usual disinterested teenagers normally sent to wait on! I cant recommend it highly enough.

Peter, Altrincham

Nothing more to say than Outstanding. A real gem.

Nat, Altrincham

Pleasant, cosy pub. Perfect place for Sunday lunch. Although you will get more than you bargained for! - Portion sizes are enormous which are beautifully presented and you won't be able to say no to the unique selection of desserts. Staff are wonderful!
Highly recommended.

Carol Harragan

We followed the team from Urmston. It is always an impressive meal, wonderful staff and a great environment. We really look forward to eating there. You really should try it.

Matthew Staffordshire

Fantastic little place, food and service excellent. Off for the third time tonight and cant wait.

Ange, Bowdon

Fantastic little place, excellent service, food of a very high standard with decent sized portions. Highly Recommended!

Bridget, Sale

Finally Alti has a quality pub/restaurant with a bit of...well, class. Great food, great service (they always know what we're drinking) and nice laidback atmosphere. The staff are really friendly and we always feel welcome. If you have Sunday lunch here, don't eat anything for about three days beforehand though - portions are big!

Matt, Altrincham

My company had its Christmas party here last December. It was excellent. The catered very quickly for about 30 of us and the food was smart and delicious. Its great to see such a lovely improvement from the spit and sawdust place it used to be.

heather kenyon

Great place to visit, food, drink and service are excellent. Very friendly and professional staff. I had a farewell drink here with colleagues to celebrate my retirement, and despite the bar only being small, and the restaurant being full, the staff coped admirably with the 50 or so attendees. I cannot praise them enough, keep up the good work and the wonderful atmosphere.

Stuart C, Manchester

We recently visited the Victoria and found a great welcome very friendly service and food of a great quality, lovely homely atmosphere would definitely make another visit!!

Shelly - Altrincham

Very cosy, wonderful food, friendly service. I had the duck breast which was delicious, also had an excellent bottle of wine. I will certainly be visiting the Victoria again soon, only next time, I will try and leave room for some Dunham Massey Ice Cream for dessert!

Mike Jenks, Altrincham

Ten outta ten for me. I last used the Vic 20 years ago on a Christmas Eve when it was the only place open at 18.00 and it was dirty and full of Alty’s lowlife. How times change! For a start, it’s NO-SMOKING, brilliant! We were eight and our leader had been before and he’s a smoker. Good range of quality beer for a small place – Flowers & Speckled Hen, Jennings settling. Food exceptional. Smallish menu but all quality. I don’t do starters & sweets but I can see enough and listen to the moans to know they were good. My venison was absolutely superb. Good wine list but again not extensive but who cares? Service good, only down side for a Satdee was the 23.00 bar closing but if that’s my only moan, it wasn’t a bad night at all. NOT A PUB CRAWL PUB but it does what it says on the tin.

Danny, Hale

Great food, good freindly service. Menu had a lot of 'tradtional' options, some interesting options. Everyone really enjoyed it - good portions aswell!

andy morris manchester

fist visit to the vic. top class food service, pleasant not over powering. run out of beer but that will improve with experience. i had the rabbit off the specials board and it was superb. well worth another visit!

Eric Graham

We have been for five meals at The Victoria, each one excellent. The place has been thoughtfully renovated, a lovely job. Service is first class and the owners friendly and helpful. The people who have tried this gastro-pub at our suggestion have been most impressed. A winner for the customers and a feather in Altrincham's cap.
