The General Elliot The General Elliot The General Elliot

Located in Croft village, in rural Cheshire, surrounded by country walks and nearby historic attractions, The General Elliot is now a restaurant and public bar which retains its original character, but now has a modern twist. Back in May 2008, proprietors Kirk and Anne Marie took the bold move to revive the Elliot!

After eighteen months of hiding behind closed doors and shutters on the windows the place was in need of some serious attention. Four months later (and copious amounts of blood, sweat and tears) and there was a new roof, windows and floors, and finally at the stage of removing hard hats and opening the doors.

Head Chef and co-owner Kirk Garbutt has over twenty years of culinary experience to share with his customers. Having spent nine years gaining experience in top class restaurants in Aix-en-Provence, he has searched for many years to find an establishment to display his talents, and coupled with his wife being from the local area, The General Elliot was the perfect place.

They have always dreamed of owning their own restaurant and now their dreams have come true. Their fabulous team apply their talents every day to ensure that every customer that passes through their doors has a most enjoyable experience.

Dan - Warrington

We visited The General Elliot on the advice of Onionring and were certainly not left disappointed. The decor in the bar area was fresh and modern however not clinical (restaurant area could do with some updating), the service attentive, however the real star of the show was the food! We both ordered 'Chicken from the grill' and I have to say that we both agreed it was the most excellent chicken either of us had ever tasted. It was clear that this was locally sourced fresh produce and it was cooked with care to perfection. The servings are also extremely generous and for the price we paid, much more than we would have ever expected at that standard of quality. A definite recommendation from us and big thanks to Onionring for pointing us in the direction of somewhere we would most likely have not known existed!

Catherine, Warrington

We went to The General Elliot for the first time last week and will most definitely be returning. I was spoilt for choice looking at the menu and wasn't disappointed with what I eventually ordered. My husband ordered the mixed grill and said it was the best he has ever had. The service was quick however there weren't many people dining. The only negative is we weren't offered any sauces to go with our main course however we heard other tables being offered when they were served their food.

Fantastic service and food, with a wide range of options on the menu. This is one of the few occasions I have had a medium-rare steak cooked as it should be. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff very friendly.

We will return to try some of the many great sounding dishes.

I have been for Sunday Lunch, Bar Meals and have celebrated birthdays and each time the food has been excellent and the staff friendly and efficient. The Sunday Lunch is the best in the area and very good value for money. Would recommend a visit.

There is no better place for fantastic food, in either the bar or book for the restaurant. A varied choice (try the stilton burger from the bar menu). Its an inviting and friendly place, the staff are great and the garden is fab on a sunny day, LOVE IT.

Neil from Warrington

Excellent food (and portion sizes) in pleasant surroundings, served by friendly and efficient staff. Basically, this is exactly what you want from a visit to a restaurant. Brill!

Colin & Liz

We had a walk near by and checked out where was nearby beforehand, we found this place and thought we'd give it a try. Very pleasant indeed, nice welcome and food was really very good. Would recommend to all.

Annabel of Warrington

Have been to this pub now several times and each time, we have been impressed. The staff are always very friendly and service is good too. Would recommend this to anyone who likes to dine in a pleasant, relaxing environment with reasonable prices. Food good too. What's not to like?!
