Have eaten there many times and find the food lovely the staff have been always polite and helpful. went there to celebrate a birthday with family and grandchildren and had an excellent meal as usual.
Great to see the glynne back in action, and enjoyed their restaurant food, a casual drink visit and glynne hospitality. a few teething problems seem to be ironed out and professional approach seen clearly at the farm shop is much in evidence. however, I noticed businessmen the other lunchtime struggling to get a signal on mobile phones and that means they are unlikely to return. A younger companion of mine struggled to send texts to his girlfriend and confirmed that youngsters would not be visiting much if they could not maintain text links. My theory is that the Village Centre has suffered for some time from this problem which accounts for the other pubs losing popularity. Urgent action needed - maybe the Gladsone estate can help!
We first went to the Amantola restaurant because we were having a meal there with friends, and enjoyed it so much we now visit regularly despite it being a 20 mile journey for us coming from Hoylake.
Every time we have been we have been made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and this lasts through to when we leave. All the staff are very friendly and polite, even at weekends when the restaurant can be busy. I think it is better to book a table, however we've been in the past without booking when it was busy but only had to wait ten minutes for a table, and we were able to sit down and have a drink whilst we waited.
I've probably been to this restaurant at least half a dozen times this year, despite it being a bit of a distance away. I don't mind having to drive 20 or 30 minutes when I'm sure it'll be a decent evening out. I've been let down by other restaurants in the past, which have been good on occasion but then disappointed me on other visits. Both the food and service are consistently very good at the Amantola, and it's because of this consistency I keep going back. It's nice going down with the family on a Sunday afternoon because the young kids eat free, but it's always a lot of fun when we get our friends together and have the buffet which includes all you can drink!!!
I recently celebrated a landmark birthday and I was treated to a surprise meal at the Amantola. This was the first time I had ever eaten there and it was such a delightful experience. I ordered the chicken korma which by far the nicest I have ever tasted. The starters were abundant and very delicious. The ordering process is very efficient and the waiters are there for any assistance required. Overall I loved it and will most definitely be going again.
'misleading offers'
10 Oct 2010 ljnacker
We booked a large table at the Amantola for my 30th birthday. There were 27 of us in total and 2 of those were children under 10. Before our party arrived we were all aware that the inclusive deal per table is that each table is timed and the all inclusive offer is only on for two hours per table, which was fine with us. However there were alot of 30 something men within our party and they like a drink but the waiter service was very very slow and after the waiters noticed they were required to 'top us up' regularly they came around less often. One of our guests even overheard our waiter say to the bar staff they should 'stall our drinks for 15 minutes' so we were all kept waiting. Then it was time to pay, however when I collected the money from all the guests at the table (£19.95 per adult & £5.95 per child) and went to pay the total bill was around £15 more than expected. I queried this with the waiter he stated that the childrens price was not inclusive of any drinks as they had 'had a lot of drinks between the two of them'. I pointed out to the waiter that the Amantola's website does not mention anywhere that the childrens price does not include drinks and that as the restaurant policy is that the all inclusive offer to each table is only valid for 2 hours and that a 4 and 7 year old could not have drank that much in the 2 hours we were there. Suddenly a second waiter appeared and they both continued to explain (what the first waiter had already explained), that childrens prices were not inclusive of drinks. I was starting to feel embarrased by this point as people could clearly over hear me being 'corrected' over something that I genuinely felt was not my error. But the principle of the matter made me more determined to stand my ground. I ended up being very vocal about the fact that they are misrepresenting their offers on their website and that I was sure trading standards would have something to say about this.... only then did they stop trying to make me look bad and agreed I could just pay the £5.95 per child. The manager, the owner Faz Miah the seemingly owner, came over to check everything was sorted out and gave me a voucher for a complimentary meal for 2!! Great we thought...until the next morning when we woke up to find the voucher had expired in 2007!!! 2 years ago!! Overall the food in the Amantola is alright -nothing to complain about and the choice at the buffet is extensive. However the website also states that 'desserts are also included in the all inc buffet' which we found was not the case, thet are £3.50 - £3.95, when this was queried with the waiter, we were advised the large bowl of chopped melon and pineapple was the 'dessert', disapointing to say the least when you're a 'real' dessert fiend like myself! The service was mediocre. However I will never return to the restaurant simply for the rigmarole that ensued that night which was all down to their misleading advertising.
Will not be going back there again. Very dissapointed.
Great service and much improved decor and surroundings. Really happy with the whole dining experience. Definitely recommend Chequers.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit - the setting was very nice and the restaurant quite modern. Food was excellent and we would recommend to all.
By far the best Indian,i have eaten all over the country as i do like to compare, even when abroad i like to try & compare. The best dish amantola do is the jalfrazi, the best i have tasted in 30 years and the garlic nan bread is even better & lighter than any italian bread, again the best nan i have ever tasted. Great service with a smile.
The menu is always an experience. No matter what day you visit, the food is fantastic!! The staff and the owners are charming and always make you feel so welcome. The food is divine, the service is flawless. However, there is one negative comment i have to make, the ladies toilet is not to the standard of cleanliness i would expect in such a fine restaurant ( it's actually a bit smelly, could do with a good clean with some bleach!! ) I cannot comment on the gents toilet obviously!! Otherwize everything else is faultless.
Staying a short hop away at the St Davids Park Hotel I happened on this place via google. Have to say, Food was outstanding.
Its not in a "prestige" location and it would benefit from a refresh (happening this spring according to the waiter we spoke with)
Staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. The food was very very good.
Poppadums and accompaniments where fresh and delicious, My Prawn Puri was sublime, (Tracy's stuffed mushrooms where ok) Other half had a Lamb Bhuna with Keema rice and would not stop telling me how great both where, I had a chicken dish ( forgot the name) and it was excellent.
All in all a fantastic restaurant and will be frequenting shortly with friends in tow.
I may be biased but without a shadow of a doubt, but this is the best indian resturant around for miles in any direction, and if you don't beleive me go there try it for yourself, its an experience not to missed, and beleive me i know because we've been going there for the last 11/12 years, and have yet to have a poor meal, everybody to do with the resturant makes sure your visit there will not be last but the begining of a visit to paradise time after time, the best in the north west,by far.
I have been going to the amantola for 22 years. No other Indian restaurant comes anywhere near the quality of the food served. That icludes places in the curry mile in Manchester. A great dining experience. Try to avoid Saturday night, our last visit the place was so full we had long waits inbetween courses and the food was not as hot (Temperature not spice) as it should have been. None the less we ate it all!A great place.
I love eating in this resturant. The food ambience and staff are all fantastic and the buffet is great value. A real treat every time!
Fabulous restaurant. The food is very good and the take away service on time and delicious
Use to work at RAF Sealand in 1999 and stumbled across the Amantola and what a treat it was. Recently was down visiting friends and took the wife along and was so pleased I did. The food is still outstanding and one of the waiters actually recognised me. One of the best Indians I have ever eaten in.
The restaurant is fabulous the food is great and the atmophere is second to none.
If your are in the area you should call in and have a bit to eat.

The food is always excellent and the staff friendly and helpful at all times. We particularly love the buffet as we have 4 sons!I would recommend this place to anyone with confidence. We are going there tonight to celebrate my son`s 20th birthday-where else!
