Amba in Hale visited by Daniel (04/06/2013) says....

Really top restaurant, food is always good, staff helpful and efficient. Great desserts. We went on a Monday and discovered they had a champagne offer on, which made the meal excellent value for money. Worth a visit.

Sahara in Hale visited by Brendan Lyons (13/05/2013) says....

Visited Hale restaurant on Saturday evening and thought the whole experience was first class - food, ambiance and above all the service.

Manzen in Hale visited by Becky (23/03/2013) says....

Food was lovely as usual but the service was poor. Starters all came out at different times. Main courses came out and were wrong despite checking after ordering. It was then re-cooked but noodles were left on the table to go cold while the corrected their mistake. Then during the main meal as soon as a plate was empty it was cleared away despite people still eating and clearly not finished. Then as plates were cleared away sauce was dripped off the plates onto the table cloth and nearly went over clothes and handbags.

Hale Kitchen in Hale visited by John (19/02/2013) says....

Me and my partner had a lovely evening last Friday. The only let down was the standard and portion size of the new menu. We have previously not had this problem.

Cinnamon in Hale visited by David Herring, Timperley (02/02/2013) says....

Brilliant! Took 24 delegates from all over UK and Europe for a mid course evening meal. I pre ordered all the food. Everyone enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. We all had a great evening with plenty of good food and drinks. All will return again as the experience was brilliant and great value for money.

La Famiglia in Hale visited by Jeff nuttall (17/01/2013) says....

Went with a party of 14 - had a fantastic evening despite being very busy all food was to the highest standard. No complaints and only matched by the first class service - going to book for next Xmas to make sure of getting a table!

The Little Deli Company in Hale visited by Dylan, Manchester (07/01/2013) says....

The Hale Grill in Hale visited by Ruth Hale (04/01/2013) says....

Enjoyed a fantastic meal at the Hale Grill for my partners birthday. We were well looked after in the bar and shown to our table at our own leisure.
The chateaubriand was cooked perfectly and our waiter gave us great recommendations regarding the wine list.
Both had a brilliant evening and cant wait to go back!

The Hale Grill in Hale visited by James Black Timperley (04/01/2013) says....

Had heard great things about this place from many friends so decided to take my wife & two children on a Saturday during December. The kids menu was a great price for 2 courses & enough choice for my fussy kids to be happy. Me & my wife decided to share two starters & loved both the goats cheese & the mushroom tart. Overall we had a great day & found the staff pleasant, cheerful & happy to answer any questions.
Willl be going back there definitely!

Always good - restaurant looks great, decent service and above all, good food.

The Romper in Hale visited by Andy, Sale (17/11/2012) says....

Food: not at all bad for a chain pub/restaurant, and the lunchtime specials were good value.
Service: willing, but rether erratic.
Drinks: it's a mistake for a pub to run out of its better beers on a Saturday lunchtime, though whether or not the budget John Smiths was available was never clearly established.
Ambiance: OK-ish, like many places which try to look like pubs while running as restaurants.

La Famiglia in Hale visited by Sarah, Hale (29/09/2012) says....

We have been visiting La Famiglia for well over 10 years, initially in Hale Barns and in recent years in Hale. The food is always fantastic, authentic Italian food & the ambiance is lovely. Pilione, Patricia and the staff are always very welcoming and friendly. We would thoroughly recommend it!

Love to Eat in Hale visited by Wendy Ivanoski Davyhulme (19/09/2012) says....

We visited this place for lunch today, but we almost didn't bother after reading a very poor review on 'Martin's Money Tips'. We decided to visit anyway, and all I can say is that our experience was poles apart from the other visitor. We had excellent food, the service was pleasant and efficient, and very friendly. The environment is clean, comfy and spacious, and we enjoyed a delicious lunch in pleasant surroundings. We are not local to Hale Barns, but we didn't feel, as the previous reviewer stated, that we were treated any differently to regular locals. We had purchased a Living social voucher, but would return again and would recommend that others visit too.

Earle By Simon Rimmer in Hale visited by Paul & Michelle Eppleston - Altrincham (13/09/2012) says....

The Hale Grill in Hale visited by Jess Sale (31/08/2012) says....

Visited the Hale Grill with friends. Had a brilliant experience. Cinnamon in Hale visited by Chris, manchester (22/06/2012) says....

The best curry in south manchester! Very fair prices considering the location. The best thing about Cinnamon is definitely their chef's speciality, the chicken or lamb Stir Fry. Exclusive to this restaurant, it has to be tasted to be believed!

Hale Kitchen in Hale visited by Phil Poynton (21/06/2012) says....

Fabulous meal and cocktails for my daughter's birthday, very helpful re seating and table decoration arrangements. Staff well informed, pleasant and excellent service. Could be pricy without discount voucher but usually discounts available. Try the cocktails! Would not hesitate to return.

The American Bar in Hale visited by John Del Rico - Beverly Hills, CA. (20/06/2012) says....

I worked in Hale and would often frequent the American Bar, mainly because of the name, the employees & the locals. Great pub atmosphere, good food, not trying to be something their not and an excellent staff. There should still be a California license plate on the wall, commemorating the great experiences I enjoyed there!

The American Bar Rocks......

Spice Lounge in Hale visited by The Brain, Manchester (31/01/2012) says....

Well, what can I say, the food was the best I have ever had in my entire life! (and I've been to many indian restaurants!) Staff was very welcoming, especially the manager. However was very disappointed as I didn't see any of the 'good looking' people mentioned in other reviews. Other than that, yes I agree, Ashraf was the friendliest waiter! Defo recommend Spice Lounge for the whole family. We will definitely go there again!

La Famiglia in Hale visited by Avril & Chris, Sale (08/01/2012) says....

Dee Thai in Hale visited by Sara from Hale (06/12/2011) says....

Went to Dee Thai two weeks ago and having secured a babysitter for this Saturday I am about to make another reservation. Every experience at both ManZen and Dee Thai are outstanding, from food to service - everything! My personal favourite is the jungle curry so I would highly recommend this to all fellow 3 chilli heat-seekers who had handle it!

Dee Thai in Hale visited by D Henman, Bradford (21/11/2011) says....

Visited last evening with wife and daughter - it is our normal stop when using Manchester Airport. It was our most satisfying visit to date - the food was absolutely divine, the three main dishes each so different but combining perfectly. Would I recommend it? Yes, yes and yes again!

Amba in Hale visited by Tom (25/10/2011) says....

havent been for ages but spotted the new photos on Onionring and the place looks great after a refurb, dined off the midweek menu which was very good value. The food was top class - both the midweek and main menu had lots of interesting options. Service was good throughout...overall - really impressed

The Hale Grill in Hale visited by Altrincham (19/10/2011) says....

I visited the Hale grill for the first time last week, we went as a large group from work with some clients. We were very impressed with the quality of the service. Some times when you are part of a large party the service can be quite slow and you can end up waiting a long time for your food, however we were very well looked after. The food was of a very high standard and the service was very prompt and attentive. Our glasses were never empty. A very enjoyable evening. We have already booked in again for our Christmas party, loooking forward to returning already.

Hale Kitchen in Hale visited by Carole cleary Sale (06/09/2011) says....

Excellent food, excellent service, fantastically friendly staff and very good value. Highly recommended.

The Hale Grill in Hale visited by Siouxsie (16/08/2011) says....

They do oysters, they do oyster I love the oysters served here. The steak is good too, the service is very good and the place is clean. They did try and seat us at a table which was not right but we sorted it. A good everyday restaurant with a wide selection on offer - but me I always go for the oysters.

Danilo's Pizzeria in Hale visited by Siouxsie (16/08/2011) says....

I'm addicted to the goat's cheese, spinach and pine nut pizza and I can order an extra thin base. We like the people who serve, the atmosphere, the simple decor and the quality of produce cooked supremely at Danilios. The place is never empty because it is so good. The price is right and my partner gets his fix of pasta (don't cook it at home). The waiters and owners take the time to get to know you and appreciate you when ask for specific cooking requirements - they know people who know their food. One of the waiters talks to us about the veg he grows and how he cooks them, I love these friendly extras.

Spice Lounge in Hale visited by Paul and Sarah (25/07/2011) says....

We have been going to this wonderful restaurant for years and I cannot reccommend it higher, it is by far the best Indian cuisine around, along with first class attentive service, this makes a very enjoayable and reliably consistent, dining experience.

Cinnamon in Hale visited by Louise, Timperley (06/06/2011) says....

Players Restaurant and Bar in Hale visited by Mrs Gibson, Stockton on Tees (17/02/2011) says....

I have just tried to book table for myself, husband and daughter aged 10. I was told that children are not welcome at the restaurant (at least not on a Saturday). This policy seemingly does not apply on other evenings when they are presumably glad of whatever custom they can get.

Danilo's Pizzeria in Hale visited by DT, Manchester (01/02/2011) says....

Yet another top dinner with friends here last Friday. Pizza, sea bass, canneloni, risotto - all enjoy immensely.

If you want to experience an Italian meal surrounded by entertaining waiters, good wine and great food - then look no further. There is a reason why people queue to get into this gem!

On a whim, in order to celebrate my 50th birthday, I invited family and friends to Earle for dinner. As I was footing the bill I restricted them to the set menu. The restaurant coped beautifully. Nick and Sophie were great and the kitchen excelled itself. Coping with 28 covers at one time is never easy and they made it look simple. No one had any complaints and I can safely say I will return again and again

Earle By Simon Rimmer in Hale visited by Cheadle (21/10/2010) says....

Wonderful, Excellent.
We were greeted at the door by our server and shown immediately to our table. It was nice that the ladies took an interest in us. My wife had had an operation on her ears that day and she was asked (quietly) on several occasions how she was.
To the food. Quite simply the nicest meal I can remember having eaten.
I had duck, the most gorgeous fish soup, duck and a trio of desserts,Pauline a fish eater had smoked haddock/tomato salad the same soup and a medly of salmon sea bass and scallops, and the same dessert.
The evening was a celebration of local foods and was quite simply gorgeous.
The restaurant is owned by Simon Rimmer who made the point of seeing us out at the end of the night and he is every bit as nice as his food!

Earle By Simon Rimmer in Hale visited by Julie (21/10/2010) says....

Gourmet night at EARLE is a fixture in my diary. Last month we took my mother in law her sister and all our children. Service was attentive not intrusive. The food was to die for. With posh chicken pie my personal favourite.
Last night my potted duck was a delight not greasy at all and pickled red cabbage that was not harsh at all. The lamb main course was cooked to perfection with a rich deep flavour.
Earle is so good I am taking a party of 20 for my birthday even though its a 40 minute drive from home.
If you want excellent food in a pleasant relaxed atmosphere Earle is the place for you.

Danilo's Pizzeria in Hale visited by Lee, Altrincham (29/07/2010) says....

Danilo's is by far the best Italian restaurant I've been to.I have now made this my regular Italian restaurant and have been back numerous times now since my first visit last year. The food is consistently spot on (especially the carborana!!) The staff are absolutely fantastic and a credit to the owner.Attentive, charming, funny and always smiling! They are especially great with kids! The place seems to always be busy and with a no reservation policy there is always a queue outside before opening time. There is a ticket system, and I always favour popping over the road to the railway pub for a swift pint while waiting my turn! Highly recommended. 10/10

Piccolino in Hale visited by Lizzie, Sale (13/07/2010) says....

The service is as you would expect from Italians - excellent - very attentive and charming. The menu quite extensive. We were seated near the glass fronted kitchen and we could see the dough being rolled out for the pizza bases and the freshly prepared pasta. I had a fusilli pasta dish, with salmon, spinach and peas in a light creamy sauce, which was delicious. The only reason I have not given full marks is that the wine was a bit on the pricey side, there was nothing under £20.00.

We have waited a while to visit Earles for various reasons so to my delight my family had booked it for Father's day and we had a fantastic experience. The food was all superb, the staff very knowledgable, attentive & expressed a good sense of humour. We felt completely relaxed. 1 of our children didn't want anything from the kids menu but this was no problem with the staff.
All the dishes were well presented, well thought out, used excellent ingredients and perfectly cooked.
A must for all great food lovers and we will be back and this is our new favourite!!

We had a few photos with Simon, who was as nice in person as we expected, we also had photos taken with Steve McManaman who spoke to my daughter on the phone (he was her footballing hero when she was growing up). A great meal. New chef and a focused menu with a fabulous execution and finish; enough to keep two foodies very happy! Family friendly yet retaining an edge that works in the lunchtime, post work Friday and all in-between. Foie Gras, truffled quails eggs and fresh bread starter and an amazingly fresh smoked haddock risotto for main. Great bouillabaisse (even on a Monday!). A local establishment re-affirming itself as a must try.

The American Bar in Hale visited by Ange, Hale (09/05/2010) says....

Visited the American Bar early last week, the staff were very helpful and accomodating which I didn't expect given the concept of the American Bar. The atmosphere was buzzy and the bar very busy. My fellow diner ate one of their burgers and was very impressed by the standard and value for money. I had a steak which was slightly overdone to my taste but was still very nice and a nice evening was had.

Players Restaurant and Bar in Hale visited by Yvonne Casey, Preston (20/04/2010) says....

I have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions. It is one of my favourite restaurants. There is a varied menu and it is reasonably priced. On our last visit we had the sunday roast, which was an extremely generous portion of Roast Beef cooked rare just as I like it. My husband had the chicken and again this was excellent. The vegetables were cooked perfect and for desert we had the sticky toffee pudding despite being full from the main course.
I love going during the summer months as the decking at the back of the restaurant is a nice place to relax with a glass of wine before your meal. The staff go out of their way to recommend dishes for you and they are friendly and attentive. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Dee Thai in Hale visited by Melanie - Manchester (11/04/2010) says....

After watching the Grand National race in a nearby pub, we had booked a table for 4 by the window, early reservation with a request from the restaurant we be gone by 8.30pm as table reserved again, this was not a problem. On arriving they wanted to move us to the back of the empty restaurant. We asked to be seated where we requested and as promised on the phone they very reluctantly sat us there and proceeded to give us attitude all evening and incorrect drinks. Food was great, very tasty just a shame about the service and attitude of the manager and his staff. It put a real downer on the evening after we had such a great day and even ordered an expensive bottle of champagne due to our big win on the race! We all said we would not return due this experience

Earle By Simon Rimmer in Hale visited by Chris, Sale (27/03/2010) says....

I went to Earle with my fiance to celebrate our anniversary. We were lucky enough to book when Earle were hosting a gourmet evening. The whole experience was fantastic. The staff are very attentive and explained the concept of the evening very well. We enjoyed a Starter plate, starter, main course and desert. The food was of the highest quality and the cuts of the duck and lamb amazing. For each course we were advised by a beer expert which would compliment the flavours of the course that we chose. I would not consider myself to be a beer expert but I really enjoyed trying the different beers which I would never have tried without Earle's suggestion! (I have taken the name of three of the beers served and intend on buing more if I can find a shop which stocks them).

At the end of our meal Simon Rimmer took the time to ask us if we had enjoyed our meal which was a very nice touch.

We will definitely be eating at Earle on a regular basis and would highly recommend any future gourmet evenings.

I went into Danilos after a few of my friends recommended it (they live in the area) I was greeted by friendly staff who served me with a smile and made me and my family feel welcome throughout, it was busy and we were waiting for our table upstairs, Upstairs has a welcome feel and even though the restaurant was full the staff were still very friendly, and they looked after us, Our meal was very fresh and tasteful, i ordered some pasta and choose exactly what i wanted in the sauce and it was PERFECT. My wife ordered a pizza with a thin crust and that was perfect and we asked for Garlic dough balls (Not on the menu) and they were probably the best iv had. I totally agree with the reviews on this site about this 'Small family run business' and next time I'm in the area ill certainly pay another visit.I've even joined the Danilos fan club and (Danilos the pizzeria of Dreams) on facebook and their is over 650 Members!!! that must show a good restaurant. Ive rated this Restaurant 10/10

Piccolino in Hale visited by Tom, Hale (26/07/2009) says....

At first piccolinos was a good place to eat, but now me and others feel it is more a 'Night club' than a restaurant, the last few times iv been in with family and friends and it was full of drunken crowds of people. It also seemed that once we had sat down it seemed like they were trying to rush us out (Not very friendly service,) the food didnt seem up to much eather. one thing is 100% we wont be rushing back their, since our last visit i have also heard bad reviews on the atmosphere, Food and service at Piccolinos, I can certainly think of a better/ smaller family-run italian restraunt in hale Village before the RAILWAY station, that ill be going to in the future.

What a wonderful restaurant! The meals are satisfying, plentiful, exquisite tastes, and pleasantly different to most Indian restaurants. The presence of Nepalese herbs and spices on the menu adds interesting and devine twists to the usual meals us English customers have become so used to.

The staff are professional, accommodating friendly. Very nice people. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Dining at the Cinnamon is an experience not to be missed.

Ps. I would highly recommend the Lamb Stir-fry

Cinnamon in Hale visited by Barry Jones Altrincham (02/01/2009) says....

First rate. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. My wife and I shared the recommended assorted dish special. Six different styles. I will definitely be returning.

Cinnamon in Hale visited by Ms. Edmenson Altrincham (30/12/2008) says....

Myself and partner took my 2 children to the Cinnamon in the early evening. And we were not disappointed! What lovely staff and delightful cuisine. There were dishes we recognized and new dishes we had not tried before, one of which was offered on the house to us, for us to try and approve, which indeed we did.
We would recommend that if you like indian food you give Cinnamon a visit. We certainly will be going back there. Child friendly and, ... no service charge! We choose if we want to tip, and we do tip when deserved, and the Cinnamon did deserve. Well done, and good luck for a long stay in Hale.

Cinnamon in Hale visited by Tristan, Manchester (29/12/2008) says....

After several recommendations i visited this place with a small army of 4 friends. Now, i've been to Dilli and Spice Lounge but the experience we had at Cinnamon was amazing and definitely one to remember.

The atmosphere was excellent, service very friendly and prompt, authentic Indian menu with a Nepalese twist (you have to taste it to believe it!), and a value for money bill at the end of the night. A truly wonderful experience.

I would recommend the Chicken Akhbary and Lamb Stir-fry dishes which were freshly tasteful and beautifully presented.

I personally recommend the local and travelling people who want to have a wonderful dining experience to pay Cinnamon a visit. You won't be disappointed...thats for sure!

We have been eating here for a couple of years, it is the only place around where you can eat delish food, drink good wine and your children can play perfectly happily with no one tutting. The staff are really great with the children and there is a safe place for pushchairs. Childrens food is lovely so absolutely a guilt free meal for parents! We've been a good few times en masse with lots of under 3s and had a good chat, lovely food and the children are happy. I love the steak sandwhich at lunch but new fave is the smoked salmon. All the evening food is really good. I can't believe nowhere else has cottoned on to the fact that parents like to have a decent meal AND have happy children!

If you want a delicious meal, fantastic cocktails and a welcoming atmosphere, I highly recommend the Hale Grill!!! I went there on Friday for a leaving do with work and I can honestly say it was the best restaurant I’ve been to in a long time. Sixteen of us went and every single person was impressed. The food was incredible and the service second to none. We all applied for our discount cards before hand so we all got 2 for 1 cocktails before the meal which was great as their cocktail menu is very extensive!! The restaurant was really busy as it was a Friday night but the service was still fantastic, our food was all brought out together, on time and steaming hot. Back in work today and everyone is raving about how wonderful the food was on Friday night (and what a disappointment 161 was afterwards……..we should have stayed at the bar and had more cocktails)!!

What can I say! My best friend and I dined here for the first time on Saturday night and we will definitely be back!!

Fantastic food, and super sexy drinks!

The menu is great - what more could you ask for, steak and seafood!! Yum!

We started off our meal with a delicious bowl of fresh mussels and some deliciously hot bread to dip in the sauce! Perfect for us both to share as we wanted to save room for dessert!!

I had the Tuna for main and it was perfectly cooked! Just seared the way it should be! My friend had a sirloin steak, a regular diner at Gaucho, I was shocked to hear her say it was the best she'd EVER had!!! It simply melted in her mouth!! The home made chips are definitely a must, deliciously crispy and golden!

Desserts were great too!

The service was great and genuine, something lacking in most of today's restaurants. It is so refreshing to be looked after by a team of professionals who clearly enjoy what they are doing.

All in all we loved The Hale Grill and would definitely recommend to any of our friends, family and colleagues.

Very good overall and not too expensive.

Swadesh in Hale visited by Beth, Altrincham (31/05/2008) says....

All in all this is a lovely restaurant, the venue is handy, near enough to the Griffin for a nice drink beforehand, and a nice outside area if you want to be outside for a drink at Swadesh. The food was beautiful, starts and mains were both mouthwatering and just the right portion sizes so you didn't feel like you were just eating a take away at a table!
The alcohol is the most pricey bit, and to say we had one G&T with no Gin (melted ice cube yes gin no, but theychanged it when requested - could be a genuine mistake), one with Lemonade and one which was very weak - I'd advise Cobra!
Anyway, we went there for the food and it certainly was worth the trip, more pricey than the other local Curries, but 50% nicer too!

Swadesh in Hale visited by Sophie, Dunham Massey (28/05/2008) says....

We decided to visit Swadesh on spec one night as we had heard that the dreadful Deckers had closed and been replaced by a 'posh Indian'. We were not exactly dressed for Bowdon but were pleased to find that the atmosphere in the restaurant was much more casual than outward appearances would suggest. The staff were very friendly and helpful but it is the food that will definitely have us coming back for more. This is not your run of the mill curry house - no lamb bhunas or strangely coloured 'pilau' rice here. Everything is beautifully fresh and full of interesting flavours. We had some fantastic dishes - tandoori fruit with a black pepper sauce, spicy cod with pomegranate seeds, a gorgeous lamb, mint and spinach dish which I had never tasted anything like before. In fact, I wa so annoyed at being full before I'd finished, I even took my leftovers home to have the nest day! All in all a great eating experience and one I would definitely recommend.

Good Luck swadesh and see you soon

Swadesh in Hale visited by Anonymous (15/05/2008) says....

The restaurant ceratinly looks the part - fantasticly refurbished with a contempary feel. There was a friendly welcome, and we had a drink in the seperate bar area for pre dinner drinks.
The service throughout the evening was excellent with the waiter always being on hand. Now to the food, starters were well presented, the tiger prawns stood out for me and the green sauce gave a welcome kick.
The main dishes, chicken korma and a spicy lamb one were again well presented. The korma was not overly sweet like they sometimes can be, and both dishes used good quality meat. The dal we had as a side dish was a nice accompliment and a livly addition to the meal.

Overall we were very impressed - good service, nice decor and great flavours.

Fab decor in a great location this upmarket Indian has almost got it made.

Still in the middle of a 'soft' opening so hitches are to be expected but no one asked for any feed back so here it is:

Bar area comfortable and service good but the bottled Cobra could have been a bit colder...

Starters were lovely (if a little salty ~ but I'm sure they'll sort that out) Chicken Tikka was among the best that I've eaten.

My family's mains were good but the rogan gosht was very poor ~ 5 small pieces of lamb in a thin salty sauce and at these prices ~ Ouch!

Overall great potential but at these prices everything needs to be a wow! even in Bowdon...

I have been going to danilo's 4 a long time now and havent had a bad meal yet. as "Hale" said the staff are always friendly and glad to see you. If you go on a friday just befor they open (6.30) their is always a que and that to me is the sighn of a good Restraunt. If someone has a birthday all you have to do is tell the staff and they sing "Happy Birthday" but also get everyone involved making you feel more than welcome. The homemade deserts are superb and they also make everything fresh and to order. if their isnt anything you want on the menu they always acomodate your needs. It Really would be the death of me and proberbly half of manchester if Danilo's wasn't around and on that note id recomend it to anyone wanting a taste of Italy. They also have a fanclub on Facebook open to ay1 who is wanting to join called Danilos the pizzeria of dreams and that has 655 members some people living in other parts of the world also showing the sighn of a good restraunt. Danilos really does treat you like a family and you always feel welcome and dont let the fact they dont take bookings put you off going just get their early. Iv eaten out in london's finest many times but always seem to go back to Danilo's.

We went to Amba a couple of weeks back as they have started doing the early diner deal all night midweek. The food was fantastic, although the wife went from the normal menu which made it a bit pricer the bill was about decent for such good food and service.

Arrived at 6.30pm last friday to find the restaurant fairly quiet but it soon got busy. The staff were very efficient and freindly. We were soon tucking into the assorted starter for two, perfectly presented and extremely tasty. The main courses were soon delivered again perfectly presented and delicious. This was the first time my wife had eaten Thai cuisine and she thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We shall certainly return and can recommend it.

Ate there recently on a Saturday night and there was a real buzz about the place. We went 20 minutes early and sat ourside, sipping great cocktails waiting for our table. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was served hot and was extremely tasty. Really noisy unfortunately during our meal but only because a party of 30 women were sat next to us! Otherwise, a great restaurant, with service and food excelent.

My husband and I dined at Earle last night, why did we wait so long? Food was fantastic, service excellent. The only very minor downside was we were seated under the air conditioning unit which was very efficient but slightly too chilly for me. Next time I'll take a jacket or sit somewhere else but there will definitely be a next time.

Having read a few good reviews on this site and having been past a number of times we finally gave it a go last night. The food was execellent and we didn't have to wait long at all for drinks and the food to arrive. Maybe the waitress could have smiled a bit more but it was probably the end of a long day! Really good overall, would certainly recommend.

The wine reccomendation was spot on, and not to mention the food - what can i say? Excellent. Beautifully presented, hot and very good value for money. Through out the night we had great service that wasn't over the top but friendly and helpful. We all had three courses but it was difficult to decide what to have because of the excellent selection. All the food was spot-on, beautifully presented, fantastically cooked, delicious and plenty of it. We were even given some little extra tit-bits during the evening. We will definitely go back.

Maybe we caught it on a bad night but I was quite disappointed by this place.
Couldn't fault the food but there wasn't a great deal of it for the money.
We were packed in like sardines and stuffed in a corner without room to swing a mouse. We did make friends with the couple on the next table.
Service was OK, nothing special.
Someone mentioned the wine list; great, but there are no prices on it so unless you're Oz Clarke you might get a surpise come bill time. We did.
We did see some minor celebs though. Ooh.
This is the epitome of a celebrity restaurant which lives on the reputation of its chef. Overall not bad but if you like this sort of food. But if you want to see Coronation Street actors and posh spice wannabes on a night out whilst not eating a great deal then get booking.

Decided to take advantage of their claims of "Child friendly" for a meal with my 4 year old son. It was very quiet, as I would expect at 5.30 midweek, but Ollie (front of house) was friendly and helpful, showing us to our upstairs table. From the moment we walked in, I knew I was in the right place - videos, toys, play mats, nothing to break, even an invitation to make as much mess as possible. Heaven! The menu was great for adults and kids, the food was fabulous and there had clearly been a lot of thought put in to all the kiddie extras like small cutlery and glassware, and an endless supply of napkins! I am going back with a bigger group of family this evening, and have also pre booked another mum and son outing next week. Yes, I am a big fan - anywhere where I can eat well, my son can too and we both come away stress free is a definite winner !

at last, reasonably priced, very good food restaurant in Hale. We took some friends visiting from Toronto and we're very impressed. The service was efficient and friendly, however there is always a slight schoolmistressy air about British waiters and waitresses. Great wine list.
The decor is understated and the the owners have come in with a very professional approach. The menu is not overlong or fussy.
Word of mouth has meant that the restaurant is now heavily booked and its difficult to get a table

Danilo's Pizzeria in Hale visited by Lawrence Hale (10/11/2006) says....

Have been going to Danilo's in Hale for approx 20 years now and some of the waiters have been there that long which must be a good sign. The staff make this place the friendliest Pizzeria I have ever been to. All the food is excellent for a pizzeria and its a great place to take children. The food is not adventurous but I think they tried to change the pizzas to a very traditional Italian style and they must have been told off by the regular Hale clientele. You have to queue if you want a table on a Friday and Saturday night. The room is small and a bit tight but that adds to the great atmosphere. If you want wine go for the House red its astonishingly good. Its not expensive and service is quick. They do 2 sittings so they don't want you hanging about. I will be coming here once a month with my family for as long as I can.

Manzen in Hale visited by Hannah, Sale (16/10/2006) says....

Well, I have been to Man Zen on quite a few occasions now, and I have to say the food has always been execptional. The waiters, although not overly friendly, are courteous and very prompt. At least you could never consider the staff intrusive!! The service is always incredibly quick, but as my husband as a rule likes to eat and leave (!) that suits us just fine, for some though who wish to linger it may not be ideal. In saying that, on our last visit, we were asked if we would like a gap between courses.
Wine list is very good, and if you just fancy a glass the house wine is pleasant enough, though I must admit I do prefer it when you have a choice of glass or bottle for at least some of the wine list.
Food; is always lovely, though admittedly it is easy to order the same thing time in time out as you know it is so tasty! I can recommend king prawns in the shell with chilli and garlic and the steak rolls are also wonderful!! The seafood menu is also extensive and does not stop at prawns! Lobster, crab, halibut, scallops to name a few of the seafood choices. Varied menu, not overly expensive, but you get what you pay for. Enjoy.

Hadn't been to Amba for a while so went for the early bird option last night. The bar area was busy with people having tapas and a few people were sat out in the sun - very continental feel about the place. Having not booked we were seated straightaway, the barman/waiter was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet - last few times it has always been packed with early bird diners. The glass of wine and 2 course for £13 menu was decent enough. Food was very good, up to the usual high standards. Overall - still top of the tree in Hale.

The Hale Grill in Hale visited by George, Altrincham (25/04/2006) says....

As Hale has now has more than its fair share of trendy restaurants, I wasn't expecting the Hale Grill to be much different. I was however pleasantly surprised. The chicken caeser was perfect as a starter, a simple dish which is often over-complicated. The lobster was recommended for the main and again was excellent (the fact that it was served with hand cut chips made it even better. Al-round a top restaurant.

Dee Thai in Hale visited by Onionring Review (24/04/2006) says....

Living locally I had been intrigued by the development of the old Chinese restaurant into what is now the ultra stylish Dee Thai. The restaurant lies in the centre of Hale and for the past few months since its opening appears to have been full most nights with willing diners keen to try the latest addition to the Cheshire dining scene. So it was without much hope of actually getting a table we walked in quite late on a Sunday evening. The manager welcomed us with a friendly smile and to my surprise offered us a choice of tables. The restaurant had a number of full tables but not enough to warrant opening the large first floor part of the restaurant. Positioned on a nice window table the waiter was quickly over with menus and to take our drinks order. The offer of water didn't go unnoticed - my partner usually asks for one and there are a number that simply won't serve you tap water! anyway, I choose a hot soup for starter while my partner went for Chicken wrapped in pandanus leaves. They both arrived promptly, my soup was beautiful...just hot enough with a bit of kick.
I had opted for a beef curry dish (Paneang), while my partner had a roasted duck dish. My beef was one of the best Thai curries I have had - the beef was succulent and without a trace of fat. The sauce again was beautiful and well balanced. The duck, I'm told was also excellent.
We skipped on desserts as the size of portions meant we couldn't squeeze anymore in...and I wasn't going to leave any of that beef!
Overall the service was excellent throughout, food (apart from the obvious) was top notch. Prices aren't on the cheap side (For 2 people £50 inc a bottle of house wine) - This is Hale so to be expected. Certainly worth a try.

Spice Lounge in Hale visited by Lisa Fullarton Stevenage, Herts (08/04/2006) says....

My partner and I along with friends went to Spice Lounge on Saturday night. The service was good and the food was great. I had a lamb dish which I found exceptionally tasty as the lamb was not chewy and stringy like you get in most indian restaurants.

Always busy but don't think you can book. Worth any wait though, food is great. Service is friendly even if you can be in and out in less than 1hour. Very Italian, very good.

The American Bar in Hale visited by Liezl - Altrincham (03/04/2006) says....

Excellent steak. Not many restaurants can cook the perfect steak, so I was very impressed. Just such a pity it is always so smoky - even in the non-smoking section. Service is generally a little slow. Decor is typical American - but not cheesy.

Dee Thai in Hale visited by Richard, Warrington (27/03/2006) says....

A large group of us went on Friday night, considering the other comments with regards to the service we found it to be very good. There was always a waiter/waitress on hand for drinks requests etc. Food was well paced despite the restaurant being full. Only thing I would say is that they wouldn't give us a jug of tap water, insted made us pay for bottled stuff - bit of a swizz. The food was pretty good, we only had the basic banquet (mixed starter and a main). Sauces which came with the starters were misely. Bothe the starters and mains were ok portion wise and pretty tasty. Not quite as good as Jitrada's in Sale or for the money Chilli Club, but early days and we'll be back in a few months to measure the progress.

Dee Thai is the latest offering to the Hale restaurant scene and is a sister retaurant to the already well-known Man-Zen Chinese restaurant located directed opposite.

The restaurant is nicely decorated in a simple yet elegant style very similar to that of the "Living Room" chain of restaurants. It is well-staffed and yet lacks the well-oiled service that one has come to expect at the Man-Zen. I am however sure that this will improve as the restaurant 'matures'.

The menu is in my opinion not strictly Thai, but has more of an general Eastern fusion feel to it. The restaurant feels more upmarket than the Man Zen and this is represented through its pricier menu and smaller number of covers. The mixed platter to start is a good way of sampling a range of appetisers. As a main course I would wholeheartedly recommend the beef massaman curry which is truly superb: tender beef served in a subtle sauce. Portion sizes with the main-courses are not large and I would recommend 3 separate dishes for two hungry adults. The menu is large and varied and I would recommend this establishment to all those interested in eastern cuisine. Expect to pay around £40 a head for a plentiful meal and enjoyable evening out.

Have been to Amba on numerous occassions now and have never had any complaints. Atmosphere relaxing, service frendly, professional and over all very good, the food is excellent and you are not rushed to eat it and beat it. I have recommended this restaurant to everyone. One of my favorites.

The Hale Grill in Hale visited by Claire Hale (16/03/2006) says....

Went here about a week ago and ordered the lamb from the Butcher's Block. I was rather disappointed when the main course arrived. The three pieces of lamb were quite small. On the plus side, the cocktails are fantastic and so are the staff - all very attentive and polite.

Very sylish and looks to be a great addition to the restaurant scene in Hale.

We only went for lunch but the 2 courses for £8.50 was decent value and very tasty. I love thai food so if they can keep up the good standards then this could become by regular - sorry spice lounge!

The Romper in Hale visited by Bill Manchester (18/02/2006) says....

The food was excellent. The drinks were lovely. But the best thing about the restraunt, was the waitress that served us. Though small and young looking, she treated us with great respect and did not delay any of our meals. I do believe her name was Jessica. Blonde happy hair, and an attractive smile. She made the evening worth while.

Went for a meal on Tuesday evening. The food was first rate as normal. No need for fancy Christmas menus, the usual menu and specials board are more than good enough.Service excellent, also. Well worth a visit if you've not already been.

The Romper in Hale visited by Janet (20/12/2005) says....

Had a meal at the Romper last Saturday and although we were early the restaurant was busy. The waiter brought the food before giving us any cutlery, and one of the starters we had ordered was missing. After clearing the table he brought 3 main courses only 1 was what we ordered. My husband suggested that he was at the wrong table but he insisted on leaving the 1 meal (there were 7 people dining) it was some 15 mins later when he returned with the rest of the order. He asked if anyone would like sauce, which we did, but he never returned. Food - average. Service - poor

Thought we'd try here for a change (usually a Spice lounge regular). The restaurant is more 'traditional' in looks. Food was very good, service decent and friendly. Good size portions and probably a bit cheaper than most other curry houses near by. Will certainly go back.

The Hale Barns Tandoori in Hale visited by Nick, Warrington (01/11/2005) says....

We stopped in for a curry before watching City play Villa (another great win!). We were early and the restaurant was empty. The waiter was friendly and we soon had our pints of Cobra (not often you find Cobra on draught) and popodoms.

We shared a selection of currys, all tasted fabulous. The tandoori chicken was a highlight, also the Lamb Jalfrazi was a good. Would recommend it and look forward to the next City homegame so we can stop in again!

The Romper in Hale visited by Janine, Hale (12/09/2005) says....

We had heard good things about the food and as it was a nice evening wanted to sit outside somewhere.
The pub is nice, as is the outside seating. Bar service was efficient. But the food was very average. When you pay £10+ for pub food it should be fresher/better than this. They had the wrong potatoes on my partners dish so it went back. The veg had obviously been sat in the kitchen for hours and was tasteless. My main was a 'special', but was a small portion and something I could have done in 1/2 the time for 1/5 the price.
We watched the waitress come out with food for a number of tables and each time it kept getting sent back. No wonder they looked so miserable.
Having heard such good things we were disspoited, either they had an off day or things are slipping.

Nice, stylish restaurant. Staff weren't overly attentive but the food was very good. Early bird of 3 courses for £15 was good value. Tuna main could have been bigger, perhaps better served with potatoes?? Anyway, no complaints, overall very good. Around £55 with wine and 3 courses for 2 people.

Haven't been to a pizza express for a while. They have a new menu and more pasta & salad dishes, but I stuck to the pizza which was really nice. Service was friendly and efficient. Only thing was that this is very much a family restaurant, lots of kids running about and was a tad noisy. maybe they should play some music to drown the noise out!

The staff were friendly and polite. I had the Mexican Chicken which is always fantastic. Dessert was also very nice – Chocolate tart. The restaurant was busy as usual, another really nice night.

8 of us went on a busy Saturday night. The place had a great atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff. Starters & drinks were quick to arrive; mains took a bit longer but were well worth the wait - the best curry for miles! They also gave us a free drink for the slight delay on the mains. Would recommend.
