Cock O Budworth in Northwich visited by John Darwen (10/05/2013) says....

Enjoyed a very reasonable tasty lunch at Cock O Budworth. Sat in the conservatory over looking a spacious garden to occupy the grandchildren. Made to feel very welcome and will certainly be calling in again.

Antrobus Arms in Northwich visited by Jenny Edwards, Northwich (23/03/2013) says....

As regular visitors to the Antrobus Arms we couldn't recommend it more highly. The quality of the food is excellent AND home made chips !! Even the small portions are substantial. The staff are lovely, polite and efficient, Belinda always has a cheery smile and greeting as does Sandra. They make you feel at home and valued. We've tried other places but always end up back at the Antrobus Arms. Booking recommended though !

Spinner & Bergamot Inn in Northwich visited by Matthew lymm (20/01/2013) says....

We will be returning and highly recommend this lovely place .

Cock O Budworth in Northwich visited by Becky & Tom - Northwich (07/01/2013) says....

We drive past the Cock O Budworth every night on our way home from work and finally decided to give it a go on Friday night as we had seen the special offer on Onionring. The food was delicious and very good value on the 2 for £12.95 deal. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Think we will need to make this a regular stop on the journey home

The Hanging Gate Inn in Northwich visited by Suzi Byrne (22/12/2012) says....

Lovely venue, friendly, efficient & knowledgable staff which I believe can make or break a place, they've hired a good team. The food was so tasty, I can highly recommend their curry. Generous portions & packed with flavour. We'll definitely go back & would recommend it any day.

Turturici in Northwich visited by Sing Lee Burgess Hill (21/12/2012) says....

Happened to be in the Northwich area and this restaurant was recommended by a very good friend. It takes no bookings but we were seated almost immediatley after we arrived at about 830pm (it was reasonably busy for a week day). The food menu presented a wide choice for all palates and the wine menu even wider. If you choose the starter for two, make sure you go on an empty stomach because to say the least there was plenty. Service was good and prompt. The restaurant owner/manager was very friendly. Overall a very nice restaurant set in a quite location, with a reasonably priced menu, and very recommended.

George and Dragon in Northwich visited by Val and Roger Shakespeare (09/12/2012) says....

George and Dragon in Northwich visited by James and Nic from Northwich (31/08/2012) says....

Decided to have a quick bite to eat on Wednesday 29th Aug. Hadn't been to the G and D for years. Anyway the short version is... Amazingly friendly welcome, when the staff treat you like family, its going to be good. The Beer was excellent, not too cold, and the food was great. All the food was piping hot, the tomato soup was very good, and the mains were hot, tasty, well presented and just the right amount. Didnt have room for a dessert, but will come back to make sure we get to try them. So food was great, but the clincher for me was the lovely people running the place. Thank you.

George and Dragon in Northwich visited by W & A Hammond (20/08/2012) says....

Gem indeed! Happened here by chance, escaping from motorway blockage on way home up North from Normandy. Had excellent supper. Bravo to chef for slow-roast lamb loin, full of taste, with "Irish" cabbage (ie perfectly cooked vivid green + yellow with perfectly lean bacon lardons, nicely timbaled-out) and very good dauphinoise potatoes. Lovely best-of-English decor & ambience. Will make a point of stopping there for supper on way back from France!

Turturici in Northwich visited by Kelly Lewis, Manchester (19/07/2012) says....

Yet another wonderful meal, great service and a fabulous night at this restaurant. Noticed last night a sign from the council on display awarding it 5 stars and platinum award for food hygiene and safety! When I enquired with the manager he told me that the hygiene has always been at a 5 star level since opening - well done Turturici!! Curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to look online at the hygiene ratings of other restaurants in the area, and my goodness does this make interesting, even disturbing, reading! From now on I will always check the hygiene rating (food.gov.uk/ratings) before I potentially put my health at risk and spend my hard-earned cash! To top the lot, the manager openly invited me into the kitchen to take a look for myself.... what a fabulous place!!!!!

Cock O Budworth in Northwich visited by Anouska and Family-Northwich (15/07/2012) says....

First of all a very big thank you to Karen, Pete and all the staff who helped us out last minute on a busy Saturday night after are party of 15 was let down by a certain restaurant in Lach Dennis (which was booked months in advance...). Anyway the night was a triumph at the Cock o Budworth, we were placed in the conservatory section which the staff helped us to decorate with birthday banners/balloons. It was ideal as we had children in the party and they could easily play outdoors. The food was lovely, cooked as requested,no complaints from anyone. Service was excellent,Karen and her staff team took very good care of us from start to finish. So a huge thanks to the owners & team, needless to say we will be returning.

Cock O Budworth in Northwich visited by Geraldine & family (07/06/2012) says....

I visited the Cock o' Budworth for their Diamond Jubilee Celebrations on Monday 4th June and what an enjoyable family afternoon we had! There was a lovely happy and relaxed family atmosphere in the garden, with no bad behaviour, well-behaved children having a whale of time on the swings and bouncy castle, whilst the adults were entertained by a three piece folk band, who played & sang at just the right volume to an appreciative audience of diners. The licencees, Karen & Pete, had gone to a great deal of trouble decorating the pub and garden, providing Karen's home-made delicious afternoon cream teas with mouth-watering scones and Victoria sandwich cake, whilst Pete presided over the barbecue with good and reasonably priced food on offer. We ended our afternoon with a tasty meal in the restaurant, again good food at good prices. A lot of hard work had gone into ensuring everyone, adults & children, enjoyed the day - well, we certainly did! Well done Karen, Pete and all the staff!

Antrobus Arms in Northwich visited by David Thistleton (09/05/2012) says....

As a Regular visitor of the Antrobus arms i can safely say if you are looking for a hearty meal in a busy friendly pub then this is the first place i would suggest. All in all the best place to eat and very reasonably priced. Great team, Great food at great prices. well done and keep it up!

My Husband and I decided to call in on spec when passing on Wednesday Evening, 25th April. A well appointed restaurant, what a pleasant place to spend a relaxing evening, The place is spotless and the Staff are very nice indeed. Not being use to Tandoori food, we completely over ordered, Papadoms, Chicken Tikka Starter and Chicken Tikka Massala with Pilau Rice, all nicely presented and served. We will most certainly visit again.

George and Dragon in Northwich visited by Vicki Walker, St Marys and All Saints Church Bell Ringers (19/12/2011) says....

Dear Christopher on behalf of the band I cannot begin to thank you enough for all the care and attention we received last night. Each and everyone felt welcomed and commented as they left on the high quality of the service and delicious food. The ability to establish such an ambience the moment one walks through the door of either of your hostelries is a gift you have in spades. We are all too keenly aware that constant appraisal and attention to detail are the only successful methods of maintaining standards. We consider ourselves lucky to have you in such close proximately and look forward to many more evenings of feasting and merriment.

The food and service were outstanding and of high quality. The staff were extremely kind and courteous and very efficient. They are a credit to Antique Inns.

Before leaving I made sure to thank the Chef and his staff for providing us with a most wonderful dining experience. I am of the opinion that service such as this always begins at the top, and of course this must include yourself.

Due to the excellent time we spent at the George and Dragon, we will most certainly recommend it to family and friends and we plan to dine at the Golden Pheasant in Plumley, in the not too distant future. Thank you once again.

Marco Marco in Northwich visited by Peter Hartford (30/10/2011) says....

Just had to write this review after the superb experience me and my friends had at this exceptional restaurant. We had read an article about the restaurant in local newspaper singing its praises so we decided on last minute to check it out and turned up last night. Saturday 29th October. There were no tables to be had as they were full and reccommended we booked next time. They said they would have a table in 20 minutes so we had a drink and were squeezed in. We were so glad they did as we had a very good meal and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere and great service. We will definitely book next time and highly reccommend this place .

Marco Marco in Northwich visited by Matty Heaton Moor (23/10/2011) says....

Often tend to make mistakes finding a decent restaurant. Glad to report that on this occasion i came up trumps. Was tasked with the job of finding a suitable place for me and my fellow teacher colleagues to dine for some r and r with good food and equally equittable ambiance. Well Marco Marco certainly didnt disapoint me in the slightest. Full marks on everything. We had a jolly good night all told and my friends unusually complimented me on my choice of venue. Food was exquisite, service was first class, product quality and overall experience was delightful. They may even let me chose again in future after this performance.

Marco Marco in Northwich visited by Silvia martin (20/10/2011) says....

Marco Marco in Northwich visited by Susan Jones, Runcorn (18/10/2011) says....

Surprise Birthday meal with partner. Staff here made me feel like a princess. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was great and quite busy too but didnt detract from service we received. Dont usually write reviews but thought they deserved it. Will definitely be back

Marco Marco in Northwich visited by Bee Bee Manchester (15/10/2011) says....

What a find, re routed from a diversion in the week through a quaint little village called Acton bridge and discovered this amazing restaurant. The food was devine, very busy for mid week night too which shows it must be good. We got talking to another table who said they come here nearly every week so again must be good if people come back weekly!. The little jolly Italian manager was charming and the staff very attentive! Only criticism if any was the lasagne was so hot i had to wait 10 mnutes for it to cool down but was well worth the wait. Definitely make a special trip to come here again .

George and Dragon in Northwich visited by Jim and Rose Helsby (09/10/2011) says....

Went here last night for the first time in ages and loved how things have changed, very nice surroundings and loved the new landlady, very friendly and helpful, great food and good service despite it being very busy we still felt as if our every need was important to the staff. Can't wait to go back when all the real fires are burning, looks so cosy.

Marco Marco in Northwich visited by Hannah, Merseyside (05/10/2011) says....

Visited here October 2011 From the moment we entered we felt very welcomed and genuinely important to the vibrant Italian staff there. We were seated and had drinks on our table within 5 minutes not left languishing like other experiences we have had in other places. We are regular restaurant diners and have experienced the good the bad and the ugly but Marco Marco was not only pretty but had a fantastic ambience complimented by very good attentive knowledgeable friendly service and the food was extremely good too. We had a wonderful home made pasta dish and a steak Rossini cooked perfectly. We also had some perfectly thin garlic bread that was to die for as was the home made Tiramisu that we finished off with. Wanted to find a fault so we could give good critical advice but Marco Marco in our opinion was wonderful and we will certainly become regulars

Marco Marco in Northwich visited by Tony Stevenson St Helens (02/10/2011) says....

Went here Saturday night and was very impressed. The effort they make and the welcome is very good. They were very very busy but we still never waited for starters mains and drinks. It was someones birthday on the next table and all the chefs came out singing happy birthday with the waiting staff and gave the person a cake and personalised birthday card! cant fault this place!

Duke of Portland in Northwich visited by Sally & Jon - Altrincham (28/09/2011) says....

We recently held our wedding at the duke of Portland and it was amazing! We really couldnt have asked for a better day. The Wedding Ceremony was held in the Hay Barn for 50 of our closest freinds and family, followed by the breakfast in the Trophy Room. The food was excellent and the staff were so sweet and attentive. We later invited a further 70 people to join us in the evening - we had a blast dancing away to our rock-a-billy band! many of our geusst said it was the most enoyable and relaxed wedding they have ever been to - and we agree! We dressed the venue we potted flowers, plants and trees to give our wedding a 'country' feel. Thanks to everyone at the Duke of Portland, we had the day that WE wanted and loved every minute.

Marco Marco in Northwich visited by Helen Nantwich (27/09/2011) says....

I was told about this restaurant by a friend of mine who is the fussiest person when it comes to food so i thought that it must be good if he eats there. I must say it beat all my expectations. The welcome we got as we walked through the door was warm and genuine by real italian manager and waiters. The decor was beautiful sumptuous leather chairs , linen clad tables and soft lighting. We were seated for only a moment before we were asked what we would like to drink. I hate it when a restaurant leaves you for ages without asking you what you would like to drink. My family and I love pasta but only 2 of us decided to try it and they were very impressed by the home made Pappadelle pasta. i had a steak rossini as it was too tempting to resist after i spotted someone else having t. It was one of best steaks i have tasted in a long time. We deiced to try the house red too and it was very good qulaity and a good price too. All in all i would not hesitate in recommending this place to any Italian food fans. The price was only £68.00 for the four of us and we also had a couple of home made tiramisus (to die for) too . We decided to write this review because the staff were so good to us and we felt moved to write something about the place to show others how good it is.

Cock O Budworth in Northwich visited by Ron Hardman (25/09/2011) says....

I recently visited the Cock o' Budworth for lunch with a friend. We were fortunate to choose a warm sunny day and sat in the lovely garden patio area at the rear of the pub. We enjoyed good food, well presented and served by friendly staff. The prices are very reasonable with special offers available, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit, so much so that having seen the lovely conservatory area and cosy main restaurant, we will be returning for an evening meal soon. The Cock o' Budworth has open log fires and timber beams and I think has the perfect cosy atmosphere for a Christmas or winter's evening meal.

Turturici in Northwich visited by Mr and Mrs livemore (28/08/2011) says....

wow what can i say apart from amazing, we recentley visited the resturant and was greeted with smiles and very polite waitresses. The service it's self was brilliant and the food, well i must say was very very nice, having tried Italian food through Italian family this has to be the best i have had. The staff were always there to refill an empty glass and give you a nice smile making you feel comfertable and relaxed, i will be going again very soon, oh and the manager arranged for me to propose to my wife and the whole returant applauded and it was lovely, thanks again see you soon xx

I was highly recommended by one of my firend to visit Marco Marco in Northwich.

Went last week with my girlfriend for her birthday, we had a great meal, the food is the best Italian I've had in ages and will be certainly going back when were next in Northwich.

George and Dragon in Northwich visited by Richard Manchester (11/08/2011) says....

Went here on Sunday and had a really lovely time, set in a 'midsomer' type village the pub is just perfect, all new decor done really well to keep the traditional pub feel but also the sophistication of a top restaurant. The landlady (I think) was really nice very helpful and pleasant and the food was fantastic. This is not a cheap place and they are clearly aiming at the top end of the market and they get 5 stars from me.

Marco Marco in Northwich visited by Michael Johnson Runcorn (27/07/2011) says....

I took my wife and parents here for lunch for my wifes and mothers birthdays. we had a really nice meal and were looked after well by the staff. It was so good I sent my parents again for my fathers birthday! They said it was even better than the first time and the staff even gave him a birthday card. They are taking friends soon and it is our 'new' favourite restaurant. I never go to the trouble of putting a review on line but have made an exception for an exceptional restaurant, highly recommended

The Leigh Arms in Northwich visited by Mark - - - Hartford (25/07/2011) says....

Marco Marco in Northwich visited by Annalisa from Daresbury (15/07/2011) says....

We stumbled upon this fabulous restaurant last weekend. My children saw the sign for 'Italian Ice-Cream Parlour' and my husband was 'forced' to pull into the car park. We enjoyed really gorgeous ice-cream and the children had great fun playing in the sunshine. (We also weren't aware of 'Cheshire Animal Farm' next door to Marco Marco.. a free attraction, fabulous!).

So impressed were we that we visited again on Wednesday evening with friends for the 'Michael Buble' Tribute night (free entertainment!) the Filleto Rossini was delicious, my husband and friends all had the Sea Bass which they raved about. Service was great, atmosphere awesome and we were pretty pleased with the bill at the end of the meal!

All in all, our two very recent experiences at Marco Marco have been fantastic!! We've joined their mailing list to be updated for future events and we've even been sent a 'thank you' discount voucher.

I can see us becoming regulars! I would highly recommend this delightful Italian restaurant!!!

My wife and I recently dined here and were both very impressed. The service was excellent and helpful, whilst the management also took the time to chat with us and talk about the restaurant. The calzone in particular was outstanding and the sangiovese very enjoyable. Great to see Davenham so well served by this fine restaurant, and we look forward to returning next time we're in the village.

The Riverside in Northwich visited by Sarah, Weaverham (13/06/2011) says....

We've been going to the Riverside for many moons now and have always received one hundred percent in terms of service, food quality and value for money. The only negative I can think of is that there is nothing in terms of entertainment for children. Being on the banks of the river, there is no room for any play equipment, which is a real shame, as I think it would get more family diners if a few items could be squeezed in. Recommend dining in the conservatory, which backs on to the River Weaver and is very picturesque. Also recommend their Dairy and the Dell - a cheese and mushroom deep filled pie with chips and peas. Two for one offer which makes dining very affordable.

We've been visiting this pub on and off for years, but not been recently, so we popped in last night for a browse of the menu, not realising it had been fully renovated, and WOW ~ this place is fantastic!

New menu, food was superb, staff very friendly and service at it's best. Highly recommended.

Cock O Budworth in Northwich visited by Bolton (16/05/2011) says....

Attended a family celebration in the conservatory and everyone really enjoyed themselves in the relaxed atmosphere created by the proprietors Peter and Karen. The location and facilities are great and the large rear garden enabled the children to run around with bothering the adults too much!! The buffet was excellent, freshly prepared and well laid out. My wife and I have visited this lovely country pub on many occasions, sometimes just for drinks but also for meals, and we always receive a warm friendly welcome fom Karen and Peter and their supportive staff. We find the food very good indeed and the prices more than reasonable, so much so I decided to celebrate my 70th birthday there and 50 members of my family and close friends had a superb lunchtime buffet in the conservatory, on the patio and in the garden area. To top everything off Karen decorated the area with hand painted balloons and also arranged a wonderful birthday cake. Pubs of this quality are few and far between these days so we are going to hang on to this little gem and suggest any reader of this review gives it a try too. You won't be disappointed.

Enjoyed a lovey Sunday afternoon buffet at the traditional country pub Cock O' Budworth in a lovely area of Cheshire. The buffet was very fresh and the staff work very hard keeping the hot and cold food flowing. We sat in the Conservatory looking out over a lovely patio and garden with lots of room for children to run around. Very good food and the trifle was really fresh and delicious. We will be visiting again. Well organised Karen and Peter.

Cock O Budworth in Northwich visited by Chris, Northwich (15/03/2011) says....

Have eaten at the Cock O Budworth several times since the new tenants took up residence. They are very much a 'hands-on' business and always go out of their way to speak with customers (unlike some other pubs in the area). Food is well-cooked and reasonably priced. Their 2/3 courses special offer can be recommended.

Cock O Budworth in Northwich visited by Pauline Gregory, Over Hulton. (11/03/2011) says....

Cock O Budworth in Northwich visited by diane andrews, northwich (28/02/2011) says....

I booked the Cock o Budworth for my birthday with 7 of our friends. From the minute we walked we were made very welome. The service we received was excellent and the food was fantastic. We were very impressed with the special offer meal deal that was on too. If I had to criticise anything and this is very small the size of the custard jug was a tad small as my friend Pete loves his custard and would have like a bit more, other than that a great night with good food and great company. We will certainly be coming again.

Will definately return. 5*****

Turturici in Northwich visited by LEE SPROATS, NORTHWICH (14/10/2010) says....

i was recommended this restaurant by a very close friend. on arrival i was greeted by the charming members of staff. for my first course i was tempted to the succulent melt in your mouth ribs, the texture was unbelievable. i then went onto my main course, where i sampled the ever so tasty, to die for fillet steak, probably the most amazing steak i have ever had the pleasure of tasting. i will without doubt become a regular here. this isn't just any Italian food.......this is turturici Italian food, simply the best.

The Plough Inn in Northwich visited by Conor Ward Northwich (08/10/2010) says....

It is not often that one finds the hospitality, service, and the ambienence that makes one want to re-visit a particular restaurant time and time again.
However the Plough Inn breaks the mould, its staff and manageress are friendly, welcoming, and make you feel like a valued custonmer.
Also the food is superb - a wide choice awaits visitors to this restaurant. It's one of those pub/restaurants that naturally spring to mind when one says 'lets eat out'.

The Plough Inn in Northwich visited by Peter Dugmore (16/09/2010) says....

I now live in Hampshire, but whenever I return to the Northwich area to visit family I always try to visit The Plough. In my opinion this is a top 'pub', which maintains the right balance between being a pub and restaurant. The food is always excellent and fantastic value for money. The service is always pleasant and attentive served in a cordial atmosphere. I also applaud the owner for maintaining his strictly no young children policy. I suspect it may not be popular with some, but I can assure him from our perspective it is a plus.

Thank you for yesterday for making the lunch for my parents, who were celebrating their 65th Wedding Anniversary, such an enjoyable occasion. The steak pie was fantastic!

All round EXCELLENT! we were visiting the area and i rang fist to see if they allowed dogs. The manager said that although no dogs were allowed in the restaurant area they had a table that was at the edge of the conservatory that was open on one side and we could use this if we booked it. The table was just perfect, food was exceptional and the staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. Would recommend as a first class restaurant and a place to eat out with your dog!!

The Holly Bush in Northwich visited by Patricia Dunbar, Timperley (19/07/2010) says....

Hubby and I called in for a meal yesterday about 4pm (Sunday and had one of the greatest meals we have ever had in a pub restaurant. The place itself is very attractive and has a nice atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and the service was very good and we were made to feel very welcome. We will not hesitate to visit again as there was so much choice we want to go through some more of the menu! Thanks for a great eating experience. We will be back.

We drive up the M6 regularly to see family. Relish was a welcome relief from the traffic jams - bright, stylish, spacious and friendly. The coffee and cakes were excellent (much better than the garden centre signposted from the motorway which we'd visited on the outward journey).

One particular waiter actually asked if I was ok to have mayonnaise as he noticed I was heavily pregnant which was very considerate of him. We ate outside as the scenery was picturesque. The toilets were clean. There was absolutely nothing negative about the place. Overall highly recommended.

We haven't dined here for over two years and called in, and luckily got a table, as it is obviously a very popular eating place, and after having the meal I can see why!! We had the soup of the day (potato & leek) and chicken, bacon with olives and salad for starters, followed by chicken & mushrooms in white wine sauce with sauteed potatoes and a huge portion of freshly cooked veg. All the food is sourced locally and the meat is from the butchers down the road. It was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. As we left we booked for the Bank holiday Monday as we didn't want to worry about not getting a table!!

The Sunday roast was exceptional, all local meats and the rest of the menu also carries a lot of locally sourced ingredients which is great to see. One minor thing - the hugh Yorkshire pudding was all crisp and air, prefer mine a bit stodgier! Good service thought - will be back!

The Holly Bush in Northwich visited by Gill & Family (04/05/2008) says....

Took visiting family for a Saturday lunch. A quaint little place which looks tiny when you first enter but then opens up to a good sized restaurant. Home-made pies delicious as are the chips, lovely home-made soups and puddings. Pleasant and attentive waiter. Child friendly as long as they are well behaved. The only critical comment would be that the restaurant was deathly quiet, perhaps a little suitable background music playing gently would be a good idea. Apart from that a nice pub, really good place to take out of town visitors too, especially of the more mature age group.

Although the Stanley Arms has changed hands since the last reviews, standards have not slipped. In fact, if anything, they have improved. The new landlord and his family are extremely helpful and accommodating. The food is great, and the ale well kept.

Outside seating overlooking the Trent & Mersey canal has been rebuilt.

Jeans are not allowed in the restaurant, and children are not allowed in the public bar, which I think is fair exchange.

IPA is £2 pp.

We had lunch at the Duke today, and it was the perfect choice to get away from work for a nice meal. My friend had the Steak sanwich and I had the delicious club stack with chicken, bacon and egg. The service was friendly and efficient and I will recommend it to my colleagues.

Good food & nice, relaxed atomosphere, staff very friendly & polite. Prices are reasonable too. Would def recommend the set meals as they are great value and you get plenty. The Sunday buffet is also brill, however it does get very busy at times so best to book if possible.

Duke of Portland in Northwich visited by Lynne, Buckley (03/08/2007) says....

I ate there last night with my husband and children, aged 6 and 4. Although the decor was standard gastropub brown leather sofas, the children were made very welcome as soon as we walked in. They do not have a children's menu but we could have ordered a mini-version of the adult choice. Additionally, the kitchen could make most pasta sauces or chicken nuggets if they were preferred. What a pleasant change to eat somewhere with good food that the whole family can enjoy - why should children have the standard kiddie slop? Anyway, we had 2 courses for £9.95, very good value - a creamy pasta dish to start followed by a slab of succulent pork with steamed green veg - all beautifully presented and delicious. The boys had homemade organic chicken nuggets - pieces of chicken in a wonderfully light, crisp batter with homemade crunchy chips followed by Cheshire Farm ice-cream. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and we shall definitely return.

The Plough Inn in Northwich visited by Mark, Crewe (20/06/2007) says....

Have eaten several times - the most recent being only two weeks ago. Food is excellent, the portions are not for the faint hearted and the staff are fantastic; nothing is too much trouble. Recommended

Duke of Portland in Northwich visited by Vicki, Northwich (30/05/2007) says....

Had dinner there yesterday evening, and it was a very pleasant evening. Staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. My partner had delicious carrot and orange soup for starters, I ordered sardines but couldnt eat them as just too many tiny bones. I mentioned that to the waitress who informed her manager it was removed from the bill. Main courses were outstanding... the local beef is pricey but delicious, and the veal was also very good. Only comment there is that there should have been some veg of some sort served with the Veal - only potatos and meat - which just let it down slightly. Desserts also excellent, and a nice relaxing coffee in the squishy sofas finished the evening perfectly. Would definitely recommend and definitely will return, but overall feel it is just a tad on the pricey side, which would be more justified if a couple of small improvements were made, i.e. some vegetables with the main course.

The Leigh Arms in Northwich visited by Foodie from Frodsham (26/03/2007) says....

What a shame … this used to be a lovely place to visit, especially during the summer. There was a time when most Saturday lunchtimes would be spent at The Leigh Arms with friends. The Salmon Caesar Salad a particular favourite. Unfortunately, of late, it appears to have gone downhill. The service is appalling and on occasion the attitude of staff has left a lot to be desired. This I could put up with if the food was worth it, but regretfully, it’s not!

Would not recommend.

If you’re in the area, just a little further down the A49 (towards Warrington) you’ll find The Stretton Fox on the M56 roundabout. Not the greatest and a limited menu but if you’re looking for somewhere in that area, that gets my recommendation. I had Sea Bass in a crab and tarragon sauce and my friend had Rump of Lamb, both of which we thoroughly enjoyed. Plus they serve until 10pm most nights which is always a bonus if you’re running late!!

My partner and I have eaten several times at the plough - food is delicious, freshly cooked and the portions are very generous. The restaurant has a lovely relaxing atmosphere and the service is very friendly and polite! - I cant recommend it enough. I had the fish and chips the only thing i can say about this meal is wow!!!

Duke of Portland in Northwich visited by David, Northwich (08/03/2007) says....

Everything you need in a pub, 7 cask ales on, the Highgate Fury was a feast in itself. Apparently i'm told by the ladies the wine selection is great. Food totally first class, been in twice in 3 weeks & the menu has being different with some lovely local touches. An oasis for Cheshire! by the way first pub i've ever known to make their own bread, wonderful

We went Sat eve and it was fairly busy. Good service if a little slow at times. Good food - my fish was beautifully cooked but the accompaniments were a not very exciting - a pity.

Being from Manchester and a regular in Rusholme, I have to say I would put this place up alongside anything I have experienced along the curry mile. Exceptional starters, main course and naan bread, great service, all round excellent.

We went here for Sunday lunch and really can't fault anything - I had the 3 course lunch menu and everything was delicious, particularly the roast local pork and the chocolate and raspberry semi-freddo. The decor is stunning and very inviting on a wet & windy winter's day. The service was also impeccable - we'll definitely be going back.

The Riverside in Northwich visited by Ian, Winsford (13/11/2006) says....

We regularly eat at the Riverside & have almost always received excellent service & food. On the one occasion where we were not entirely happy the staff were very good at making amends. Of all the family restaurant chains this one has to be the best with regard to the interior & the choice of menu. That combined with the fantastic buy-one-get-one-free offer it means that a very enjoyable meal out needn't cost as much as other rivals.

A great little pub with excellent food - definitely worth a visit.

I love Indian cuisine and Cheshire tandoori is by far the best Indian restaurant i have ever been to. always greeted with a warm welcome, I have been numerous times now and feel it just gets better every time. I have always been a fussy eater but whenever I try something new on the menu I always seem to like it. I would recommend this understated restaurant to anyone. Thank you.

Very nice open restaurant and recently refurbished. Always busy but service is always efficient whether sitting in or taking away.

The food is good, and well priced. The takeaway portions are large and are always good. Its definately worth trying the all you can eat buffet on a sunday, with loads of variety.

One of the few curry houses we have tried in the area but have no reason to look elsewhere when we no what to expect here.
