I called at the Cock'o'Budworth on my way back from a business trip one sunny Saturday afternoon.
The pub looks very nice from the outside - very olde worlde with a large car park at the front.
I ordered a Holts Dark Mild, which was very well kept, and decided to have a bar snack meal of Hamburger and Chips (not very adventurous I know).
I was very pleasantly surprised with quality of the food even for this simple snack. It seemed freshly cooked, the hamburger was certainly homemade (not frozen) as were the chips and both were excellent, plentiful and well presented, even for my usually large appetite.
The service was spot on - Not asking me every 5 minutes "Is everything alright sir", just a couple of times throughout my visit.
The atmosphere was friendly and relaxing particularly as I was sat in a room with an open fire.
I would have no hesitation recommending the Cock'o'Budworth to anyone who likes a traditional British Pub with excellent Service and Food.
I will certainly be calling again when I'm next in the area.
We had a lovely family evening dinner and the food was fantastic. Great atmosphere, Karen and Peter are wonderful hosts and their staff are very welcoming. Excellent home cooked food really impressed us so we went back for Sunday lunch which was superb. We now make sure we visit once a month 10/10
Have eaten there many times now and have never had a bad experience. The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. I would really recommend it as a nice pub with great food.
We held our wedding reception at The Cock o Budworth yesterday and could not have enjoyed ourselves more had we been at "The Ritz". The food, service and surroundings were second to none. Pete is an excellent chef and Karen the perfect hostest. Karen was so helpful when we called to see her about making arrangements to hold our party with them. Once Karen knew what we were looking for she gave us her expert advice as to what, where etc would be the best thing for us. Our guest at the end of the day had nothing but praise for the food they had eaten. We are going back now for Mushroom starters and Sticky toffee pudding to finish. As the portions are so generous we may not have anything in between as we are still full from yesterday. Both Alf and I wish to thank Karen, Pete and all the staff at The Cock for their wonderful service yesterday.
We ate there for the first time last and had a wonderful meal, probably the best meal I have had for ages. Can't wait to go again
Four of us had a meal here last night (22/06/2013) and were delighted! The service was excellent, being both friendly and efficient, making for a good atmosphere.. The food was also excellent. For some dishes there is a choice of small or standard, although I consider small to be standard and standard to be "bring a doggie bag"! The Thai style fishcakes are advertised as "spicy" I prefer to call them "Hot"! Lovely! Top quality ingredients from locally well regarded suppliers is a big plus. Very good value in my opinion.I think the Cock is probably in our top three pub/ restaurants in this area. We will return! Thanks to all concerned.
FANTASTIC ! = possibly the best Sunday lunch !! We visited on Fathers Day having made a reservation the day prior. We were advised of an available time and our table was ready for our arrival. Not too busy - a good atmosphere. It was clear the management had a tight control of the restaurant and ensured the number of diners did not impose on the quality of the food served. We were constantly checked upon throughout the meal by staff and management for drinks etc. It was pleasing to see a varied menu with the inclusion of smaller portions for both children and elderly parents alike. The meals served were plentiful and very tasty but most importantly HOT! - Other restaurants please take note - Hot plates with HOT vegetables and great tasting food. The Sunday Lunch at £8.95 was terrific and we WILL return.
Enjoyed a very reasonable tasty lunch at Cock O Budworth. Sat in the conservatory over looking a spacious garden to occupy the grandchildren. Made to feel very welcome and will certainly be calling in again.
As regular visitors to the Antrobus Arms we couldn't recommend it more highly. The quality of the food is excellent AND home made chips !! Even the small portions are substantial. The staff are lovely, polite and efficient, Belinda always has a cheery smile and greeting as does Sandra. They make you feel at home and valued. We've tried other places but always end up back at the Antrobus Arms. Booking recommended though !
Went and had Sunday lunch today. Arrived at pub which was cosey and warm with real fires. Staff where friendly, very helpful and smiley which is a bonus. The food arrived quickly and presented very well and was excellent. The Yorkshire puddings and beef where the nicest I have tasted in a long time . We will be returning and highly recommend this lovely place .
We drive past the Cock O Budworth every night on our way home from work and finally decided to give it a go on Friday night as we had seen the special offer on Onionring. The food was delicious and very good value on the 2 for £12.95 deal. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Think we will need to make this a regular stop on the journey home
Lovely venue, friendly, efficient & knowledgable staff which I believe can make or break a place, they've hired a good team. The food was so tasty, I can highly recommend their curry. Generous portions & packed with flavour. We'll definitely go back & would recommend it any day.
Happened to be in the Northwich area and this restaurant was recommended by a very good friend. It takes no bookings but we were seated almost immediatley after we arrived at about 830pm (it was reasonably busy for a week day). The food menu presented a wide choice for all palates and the wine menu even wider. If you choose the starter for two, make sure you go on an empty stomach because to say the least there was plenty. Service was good and prompt. The restaurant owner/manager was very friendly. Overall a very nice restaurant set in a quite location, with a reasonably priced menu, and very recommended.
Just wanted to say thank you and how much we enjoyed our lunch today, it was well worth the drive from Nottingham. Excellent service and very pleasant staff, hope to see you soon.
We eat here quite often as it is local and the food is amazing. Staff are always friendly and helpful and the dining area itself is very warm and cosy. Perfect for a romantic meal and they do a great Sunday roast. You need to try it!
Nice chilled out atmosphere with friendly staff. I ordered a burger which was huge and and my partner ordered the lamb roast which was great value compared to some of the restaurants in the area. Would go back
Nice pub, good food. Occasionally has live music which is always a good thing and the band on last time I went was excellent.
Decided to have a quick bite to eat on Wednesday 29th Aug. Hadn't been to the G and D for years. Anyway the short version is... Amazingly friendly welcome, when the staff treat you like family, its going to be good. The Beer was excellent, not too cold, and the food was great. All the food was piping hot, the tomato soup was very good, and the mains were hot, tasty, well presented and just the right amount. Didnt have room for a dessert, but will come back to make sure we get to try them. So food was great, but the clincher for me was the lovely people running the place. Thank you.
Gem indeed! Happened here by chance, escaping from motorway blockage on way home up North from Normandy. Had excellent supper. Bravo to chef for slow-roast lamb loin, full of taste, with "Irish" cabbage (ie perfectly cooked vivid green + yellow with perfectly lean bacon lardons, nicely timbaled-out) and very good dauphinoise potatoes. Lovely best-of-English decor & ambience. Will make a point of stopping there for supper on way back from France!
Fab, Fab, Fab!! Fantastic food, fantastic service, fantastic staff, always surpasses expectations and can't wait to go again!
Stopped for lunch today - food was very nice - would definitely go for a evening meal. The staff were very welcoming to our dogs - making sure that they had water - which made our meal even better.
Yet another wonderful meal, great service and a fabulous night at this restaurant. Noticed last night a sign from the council on display awarding it 5 stars and platinum award for food hygiene and safety! When I enquired with the manager he told me that the hygiene has always been at a 5 star level since opening - well done Turturici!! Curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to look online at the hygiene ratings of other restaurants in the area, and my goodness does this make interesting, even disturbing, reading! From now on I will always check the hygiene rating (food.gov.uk/ratings) before I potentially put my health at risk and spend my hard-earned cash! To top the lot, the manager openly invited me into the kitchen to take a look for myself.... what a fabulous place!!!!!
First of all a very big thank you to Karen, Pete and all the staff who helped us out last minute on a busy Saturday night after are party of 15 was let down by a certain restaurant in Lach Dennis (which was booked months in advance...). Anyway the night was a triumph at the Cock o Budworth, we were placed in the conservatory section which the staff helped us to decorate with birthday banners/balloons. It was ideal as we had children in the party and they could easily play outdoors. The food was lovely, cooked as requested,no complaints from anyone. Service was excellent,Karen and her staff team took very good care of us from start to finish. So a huge thanks to the owners & team, needless to say we will be returning.
Enjoyed a lovely Fathers Day Meal today, would highly recommend the broccoli and stilton soup! We all had the roast beef lunch they were large portions and beef was lovely and tender. Profiteroles were delicious too! All staff were friendly and polite and made sure we were looked after really well even though it was a busy Sunday afternoon. We look forward to going again and would recommend to others.
Just had an excellent Fathers day meal at the Stanley Arms, All the staff are very Friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them, You must try Marks Onion Rings! Thanks Gemma and Chris for an excellent meal and service.
have just returned from taking the father in law out for lunch at the stanley arms, new management new menu what a difference best meal i've had locally for a long while. bar staff very friendly and acommodating, no request too much trouble including my dietry requests. we will be making a return visit very soon. highly recommend the mushroom bruschetta starter, first class experience throughout our visit well done 5 stars.
We have just had lunch at the Stanley Arms, on a friends recommendation, the food and service were first class. Staff very friendly, nothing to much trouble,Excellent choice of drinks, quality food at great prices, pleasant surroundings, riverside location a return visit a must.
I visited the Cock o' Budworth for their Diamond Jubilee Celebrations on Monday 4th June and what an enjoyable family afternoon we had! There was a lovely happy and relaxed family atmosphere in the garden, with no bad behaviour, well-behaved children having a whale of time on the swings and bouncy castle, whilst the adults were entertained by a three piece folk band, who played & sang at just the right volume to an appreciative audience of diners. The licencees, Karen & Pete, had gone to a great deal of trouble decorating the pub and garden, providing Karen's home-made delicious afternoon cream teas with mouth-watering scones and Victoria sandwich cake, whilst Pete presided over the barbecue with good and reasonably priced food on offer. We ended our afternoon with a tasty meal in the restaurant, again good food at good prices. A lot of hard work had gone into ensuring everyone, adults & children, enjoyed the day - well, we certainly did! Well done Karen, Pete and all the staff!
As a Regular visitor of the Antrobus arms i can safely say if you are looking for a hearty meal in a busy friendly pub then this is the first place i would suggest. The food is all home made and the portions will leave you rolling out of the pub. the staff are really pleasant. there is normally a full house every weekend but the staff bend over backwards to slot you in. All in all the best place to eat and very reasonably priced. Great team, Great food at great prices. well done and keep it up!
My Husband and I decided to call in on spec when passing on Wednesday Evening, 25th April. A well appointed restaurant, what a pleasant place to spend a relaxing evening, The place is spotless and the Staff are very nice indeed. Not being use to Tandoori food, we completely over ordered, Papadoms, Chicken Tikka Starter and Chicken Tikka Massala with Pilau Rice, all nicely presented and served. We will most certainly visit again.
32 persons enjoyed a very good meal at the Cock. No complaints! Unusual for our 'mob'.
I have been going to this place since the 1980's, never had a bad meal or dining experience.
Just wanted to drop you an email to thank you and your staff for last Sunday, the food was tremendous and the service was impeccable, everyone who attended the Christening and meal was so very impressed with their experience in your restaurant.
had an excellent meal and evening 10.3.12 good food, good service, nice place
We had a fabulous evening, so a big thank you to your staff.
The food was excellent as was the service. We will all certainly return.
All of the family were catered for, including a couple with some food intolerances in addition to 3 children and 2 teenagers.
I very much appreciate the courtesy extended by your personal and excellent customer service – it’s such a pleasure to come across people who really happy to hear their customers feedback.
I wish you and your team every success with the George & Dragon!
We've just been to the Sunday buffet at the Cheshire Tandoori & was very impressed. There was a good selection, everything was fresh & very tasty & for £7.95 per head it's a fantastic deal. Would highly recommend it.
Called in for an early evening meal and were made to feel very welcome. Food was excellent and we will be eating there again soon.
We arrived a just in time to order lunch, great food, good service, nice friendly staff, good bitter, We have been a few times this year but will be visiting again early new year.
Dear Christopher on behalf of the band I cannot begin to thank you enough for all the care and attention we received last night. Each and everyone felt welcomed and commented as they left on the high quality of the service and delicious food. The ability to establish such an ambience the moment one walks through the door of either of your hostelries is a gift you have in spades. We are all too keenly aware that constant appraisal and attention to detail are the only successful methods of maintaining standards. We consider ourselves lucky to have you in such close proximately and look forward to many more evenings of feasting and merriment.
I visited Relish with two friends for the first time a few weeks ago, and was pleasantly surprised. The interior was very inviting, as were the cakes on display. We ordered paninis, which was accompanied by Relish chips, which were delicious. I would certainly recommend, and visit again. Friendly staff, and excellent value.
Visited on the evening of 14/12/11. The Pub was beautifully decorated and had a civlised and relaxing atmosphere despite the fact it was extremely busy. Staff (especially Manager) were welcoming and worked their socks off to ensure all was well. First-Rate meals completed a superb visit.
took our friends for lunch today(07/12/2011) outstanding food, first class welcome and service, beautiful unspoilt cheshire village, roaring fire, wish this was my local, cannot be better cheers jeff
The food and service were outstanding and of high quality. The staff were extremely kind and courteous and very efficient. They are a credit to Antique Inns.
Before leaving I made sure to thank the Chef and his staff for providing us with a most wonderful dining experience. I am of the opinion that service such as this always begins at the top, and of course this must include yourself.
Due to the excellent time we spent at the George and Dragon, we will most certainly recommend it to family and friends and we plan to dine at the Golden Pheasant in Plumley, in the not too distant future. Thank you once again.
As part of the walking group which had lunch with you today, may I just send you a brief note of thanks for the lovely food and excellent service we had today.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for lovely lunch.
I have visited this restaurant a few times recently for lunch with a friend. The atmosphere and friendly welcome - not to mention the good food!! is brilliant. So much so we have booked a table for my birthday on Saturday night.
Decided to try the Sunday buffet last week and was very pleased.
Limited food but was excellent and actually more than enough and was excellent for just 7.95 a head!
Went here last night for the first time in ages and loved how things have changed, very nice surroundings and loved the new landlady, very friendly and helpful, great food and good service despite it being very busy we still felt as if our every need was important to the staff. Can't wait to go back when all the real fires are burning, looks so cosy.
We recently held our wedding at the duke of Portland and it was amazing! We really couldnt have asked for a better day. The Wedding Ceremony was held in the Hay Barn for 50 of our closest freinds and family, followed by the breakfast in the Trophy Room. The food was excellent and the staff were so sweet and attentive. We later invited a further 70 people to join us in the evening - we had a blast dancing away to our rock-a-billy band! many of our geusst said it was the most enoyable and relaxed wedding they have ever been to - and we agree! We dressed the venue we potted flowers, plants and trees to give our wedding a 'country' feel. Thanks to everyone at the Duke of Portland, we had the day that WE wanted and loved every minute.
I recently visited the Cock o' Budworth for lunch with a friend. We were fortunate to choose a warm sunny day and sat in the lovely garden patio area at the rear of the pub. We enjoyed good food, well presented and served by friendly staff. The prices are very reasonable with special offers available, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit, so much so that having seen the lovely conservatory area and cosy main restaurant, we will be returning for an evening meal soon. The Cock o' Budworth has open log fires and timber beams and I think has the perfect cosy atmosphere for a Christmas or winter's evening meal.
wow what can i say apart from amazing, we recentley visited the resturant and was greeted with smiles and very polite waitresses. The service it's self was brilliant and the food, well i must say was very very nice, having tried Italian food through Italian family this has to be the best i have had. The staff were always there to refill an empty glass and give you a nice smile making you feel comfertable and relaxed, i will be going again very soon, oh and the manager arranged for me to propose to my wife and the whole returant applauded and it was lovely, thanks again see you soon xx
Went here on Sunday and had a really lovely time, set in a 'midsomer' type village the pub is just perfect, all new decor done really well to keep the traditional pub feel but also the sophistication of a top restaurant. The landlady (I think) was really nice very helpful and pleasant and the food was fantastic. This is not a cheap place and they are clearly aiming at the top end of the market and they get 5 stars from me.
Excellent food - a real 10 out of 10 , the service was a little slow but they told us that on arrival , so no worries really. Would go again , no worries.
eat here as often as we can..attentive staff, spotlessly clean,,fantastic varied menu consisting of locally sourced fresh food..defy anybody to find a better value sunday roast anywhere in cheshire
My wife and I recently dined here and were both very impressed. The service was excellent and helpful, whilst the management also took the time to chat with us and talk about the restaurant. The calzone in particular was outstanding and the sangiovese very enjoyable. Great to see Davenham so well served by this fine restaurant, and we look forward to returning next time we're in the village.
We've been going to the Riverside for many moons now and have always received one hundred percent in terms of service, food quality and value for money. The only negative I can think of is that there is nothing in terms of entertainment for children. Being on the banks of the river, there is no room for any play equipment, which is a real shame, as I think it would get more family diners if a few items could be squeezed in. Recommend dining in the conservatory, which backs on to the River Weaver and is very picturesque. Also recommend their Dairy and the Dell - a cheese and mushroom deep filled pie with chips and peas. Two for one offer which makes dining very affordable.
We ate here with some friends and the service was great - the food was lovely - we will be back!!
visited here on saturday lunchtime, found this pub to have a lovely atmosphere, staff really nice and friendly, My husband and I had the 3 course lunch, it was lovely could not fault anything , the liver and onions just melted in your mouth and the desserts sticky toffee pudding and vanilla cheesecake were the best I have in a long time, well worth a visit we'll be going agian very soon
We've been visiting this pub on and off for years, but not been recently, so we popped in last night for a browse of the menu, not realising it had been fully renovated, and WOW ~ this place is fantastic!
New menu, food was superb, staff very friendly and service at it's best. Highly recommended.
Attended a family celebration in the conservatory and everyone really enjoyed themselves in the relaxed atmosphere created by the proprietors Peter and Karen. The location and facilities are great and the large rear garden enabled the children to run around with bothering the adults too much!! The buffet was excellent, freshly prepared and well laid out. Will be calling again and would definitely recommend
My wife and I have visited this lovely country pub on many occasions, sometimes just for drinks but also for meals, and we always receive a warm friendly welcome fom Karen and Peter and their supportive staff. We find the food very good indeed and the prices more than reasonable, so much so I decided to celebrate my 70th birthday there and 50 members of my family and close friends had a superb lunchtime buffet in the conservatory, on the patio and in the garden area. To top everything off Karen decorated the area with hand painted balloons and also arranged a wonderful birthday cake. Pubs of this quality are few and far between these days so we are going to hang on to this little gem and suggest any reader of this review gives it a try too. You won't be disappointed.
Tim and the team offer great hospitality, good food/beer & great company!
We ate for the first time at the Antrobus last night. The food was excellent, I had the steak pie, my daughter had the burger, wonderful home made food, nice atmosphere, pleasant staff, will definitely return and recommend to all our friends.
Great meal, lovely ambiance, staff friendly and attentive, try it, you would like it!
We have visited this pub both in the evening and for lunch. Well worth a visit, great food, lovely atmosphere and family friendly with helpful staff.
We visited the Cock o Budworth yesterday and can I say, I was very impressed. Lovely country pub, excellent food and very good service, and as we only live 5-10 mins drive away, we will definitely be going again. hopefully very soon.
I love the Cheshire Tandoori. So we are all just about to go. I would give it 10/10 in stars! Just great. Love it...You will too! Try it out. Test it out good results you all will seek. The food is great. Total, Better than a miricale I'll say!
Enjoyed a lovey Sunday afternoon buffet at the traditional country pub Cock O' Budworth in a lovely area of Cheshire. The buffet was very fresh and the staff work very hard keeping the hot and cold food flowing. We sat in the Conservatory looking out over a lovely patio and garden with lots of room for children to run around. Very good food and the trifle was really fresh and delicious. We will be visiting again. Well organised Karen and Peter.
Had a wonderful meal yesterday my mothers day treat great service food was lovely and we had a fabulous evening will be recommending to friends and family.
Fantatic food, excellent staff, best restaurant in northwich, defo going back again
Visited at weekend and found a lovely country pub with great warm atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble for the attentive staff, led by pleasant & professional Karen & Peter, who were very much in attendance ensuring customers' satisfaction. Extensive menu with something to please everyone, and all at reasonable prices for excellently presented good food. A cut above the rest! We will be visiting again- regularly!
Stumbled across this little gem of a country pub. Excellent & quality food, great atmosphere, superb landlord & lady both make you feel so welcome. Well done, a place well worth re visiting.
What a great day at a lovely spot. Food good, atmosphere great, drinks top, the range great, land lord and lady great personalities should do well and all my pals agree with me will be going again next weekend great stuff.
Ten of us have just had lunch at this pub and what a pleasant experience - a good value 3 course lunch for £9.95, very nice owner served us and we can't wait to go again. Well done Cock O Budworth.
Have eaten at the Cock O Budworth several times since the new tenants took up residence. They are very much a 'hands-on' business and always go out of their way to speak with customers (unlike some other pubs in the area). Food is well-cooked and reasonably priced. Their 2/3 courses special offer can be recommended.
An unexpected treat took me to the Cock O Budworth for the first time. All the staff were very attentive and polite. The menu was varied, the food was delicious and well presented and the prices were very reasonable. (A good combination). I have booked again and will be recommending it to all my friends.
Just been re-furbished...lovely welcome, lovely food and first class ale...can't fault the place...well done...great place....
I booked the Cock o Budworth for my birthday with 7 of our friends. From the minute we walked we were made very welome. The service we received was excellent and the food was fantastic. We were very impressed with the special offer meal deal that was on too. If I had to criticise anything and this is very small the size of the custard jug was a tad small as my friend Pete loves his custard and would have like a bit more, other than that a great night with good food and great company. We will certainly be coming again.
Excellent in every way. had lunch there today and it was wonderful, perfect in every way. wonderful staff and service and venue too. Going back and bringing friends.
Excellent service, extremely helpful staff who advised me which dishes could be 'tweaked' to accommodate my dairy allergy and didn't make me feel out of place amongst the party we were with!
Fantastic meal, will certainly be going back.
Have been to the AA a few times in the last few months and have never been disappointed. Highly recommended.
Had a great meal here tonight. Delicious food, polite and unobtrusive service and the restaurant has a comfortable atmosphere. Will definitely be going back soon!
MY two girl friends and myself had a very nice 3 course meal here and served by a very pleasant gentleman. Very good value for the money. We will certainly be back for our next girls night out.
Absolutely top class. Stopped here after bonfire night 2010 and the staff were so welcoming. We have a little boy aged 3 and they really went out of their way to keep him happy (chocolates and hot milk). The food, well what can I say, it was amazing! homemade steak burger, hand cut thick chips and the fish was cooked to perfection! would thoroughly recommed this pub for meals and a brilliant cosy atmosphere. Will definately return. 5*****
Best Restaurant in the area, excellent value for money, especially the set meal where you can choose any starter, main and nan! large portions and awesome staff, and atmosphere. has again been recently refurbished, and I eat here at least once a week! 9/10 because NOBODY is perfect!
Cracking pub, great home-cooked food, nice beers and a lovely atmosphere.
We'll be back soon.
Really nice place, great for families aswell. Good, friendly service. Sunday roast was really good - fantastic yourshire puddings. And bread & Butter pudding for pudding was a definate highlight! Definitely worth a visit.
I love Relish. I visit at least 3 times a month for lunch. The food is lovely although some things are a little on expensive side. Have also been to one of their special Tapas evenings which was great, just wish they could stay open later.
The best pub around and we have never had a bad meal! Always keep going back for more!
I celebrated my birthday at the Plough. I’d like to think the staff made a special effort on our behalf; however from the comments we overheard in the restaurant it seems the impressive quality was the same for everyone. We all had a great time, thanks to Dave and the staff.
i was recommended this restaurant by a very close friend. on arrival i was greeted by the charming members of staff. for my first course i was tempted to the succulent melt in your mouth ribs, the texture was unbelievable. i then went onto my main course, where i sampled the ever so tasty, to die for fillet steak, probably the most amazing steak i have ever had the pleasure of tasting. i will without doubt become a regular here. this isn't just any Italian food.......this is turturici Italian food, simply the best.
It is not often that one finds the hospitality, service, and the ambienence that makes one want to re-visit a particular restaurant time and time again.
However the Plough Inn breaks the mould, its staff and manageress are friendly, welcoming, and make you feel like a valued custonmer.
Also the food is superb - a wide choice awaits visitors to this restaurant. It's one of those pub/restaurants that naturally spring to mind when one says 'lets eat out'.
I now live in Hampshire, but whenever I return to the Northwich area to visit family I always try to visit The Plough. In my opinion this is a top 'pub', which maintains the right balance between being a pub and restaurant. The food is always excellent and fantastic value for money. The service is always pleasant and attentive served in a cordial atmosphere. I also applaud the owner for maintaining his strictly no young children policy. I suspect it may not be popular with some, but I can assure him from our perspective it is a plus.
Thank you for yesterday for making the lunch for my parents, who were celebrating their 65th Wedding Anniversary, such an enjoyable occasion. The steak pie was fantastic!
visited two weeks ago, and had the most outstanding lunch , beautiful location, superb food and great staff, we even saw peter kay having lunch! defo go back
All round EXCELLENT! we were visiting the area and i rang fist to see if they allowed dogs. The manager said that although no dogs were allowed in the restaurant area they had a table that was at the edge of the conservatory that was open on one side and we could use this if we booked it. The table was just perfect, food was exceptional and the staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. Would recommend as a first class restaurant and a place to eat out with your dog!!
Hubby and I called in for a meal yesterday about 4pm (Sunday and had one of the greatest meals we have ever had in a pub restaurant. The place itself is very attractive and has a nice atmosphere. The menu is extensive and we found it hard to chose what we wanted! The food was amazing, the portions exceptional - absolutely no complaints there (or anywhere else). The staff were very attentive and the service was very good and we were made to feel very welcome. We will not hesitate to visit again as there was so much choice we want to go through some more of the menu! Thanks for a great eating experience. We will be back.
Visited 20/06/10 - Flawless service ! The staff really know the menu and the food was amazing ! Will be back very soon !
I had a fabulous evening at the restaurant and the staff were amazing, nearly as amazing as John who made our night incredible... Thanks John for fantastic service.
Good service, friendly staff and nice location. Food was very quick to be served and very good value for money. No quibbles at all! Dining inside and outside. Perfect for a warm day!
not been to here for 4years and the food and drink was very good then!!! called on Sunday 04/04/10 and i can tell you the food is fantastic and service great!!!! beers still good as well which was a bonus!!!! :)
fantastic food, excellent service, great value for money, need we say more, we will be coming back again.
What a fab place, the atmosphere is excellent, the service is excellent and the food is out of this world. We have been 20+ times already and not had a bad experience yet. I highly recommend it. excellent night out i recommend you go early doors as it does get busy!!!!
we have eaten at the antrobus on many occasions, the staff are always very friendly, the food is amazing and is always homecooked. The only downside is I never know what to have because its all so lovely and I'm spoilt for choice. The home made chips are the best I have ever had. The steaks are cooked to perfection. They cater for the children always.
fantastic Sunday buffet for about £7 a head, loads to choose from and all fresh coked food, good quality stuff, been a few times now and can't fault anything
Just been to your restaurant with Relate for our Christmas lunch. The food was excellent. It was the first time I have been there but it certainly will not be the last
Can't fault this place, lovely staff, nice surroundings and the food is top quality. I go regularly and have never been disappointed.
ate at the the cock o budworth last week the food was really tasty and served on a hot plate which is nice, the bar staff and waiting on staff were very attentive and polite. the desserts were heavenly. sorry to hear it will be
changing hand in jan will miss the landlady very much.
We drive up the M6 regularly to see family. Relish was a welcome relief from the traffic jams - bright, stylish, spacious and friendly. The coffee and cakes were excellent (much better than the garden centre signposted from the motorway which we'd visited on the outward journey).
recently visited with my son and we had a gorgeous ham & cheese panini with kettle chips and large dressed side side, whilst my son had the succulent 'Relish burger' with potato wedges and large side salad, coke and a hazelnut latte, the decor is modern/contemporary airy with great staff, the food was plentiful and hot and tasty, although not a cheap place to eat it was well worth it we have been again since.
On Sunday the 18th October 09 my family and myself visited the Cock O Budworth for a lunch time meal. Our sons and there wives will not be in the country for Christmas and do not live local so this was a good time to be together for a family meal. The staff were polite and attentative, the meal was hot and really tasty altogether a very nice way to spend a Sunday lunchtime. Well done to all.
We are so lucky to have the Spinner & Bergamot as our local pub. We have never failed to be impressed with both the quality of the food and friendly service and best of all this is the consistent every time you visit. The homemade chips, which accompany many of the dishes, are the best I have ever tasted!
this is the third time i have eaten here in a short space of time...and it has been outstanding every time. brilliant staff and superb food. what a find.
Lovely location and divine food. Starters are generous proportions. There is good cask ale and the food was cooked to perfection - I had the venison and it was superb. We will definitely be returning.
Fantastic once again! It simply gets better and better every time we go! (which is a lot!!) Missed the head waiter who has a look of Gok Wan, but Barry more than made up for it!! Totally recommend it!!
wat words could i say about the carriers inn??? perfect food, wonderful staff and fantastic scenery and location!!!! i'd go every day if i lived closer... and could afford too hahaha
I went there with a friend Bank Holiday Monday 31/08/09. The service and food was absolutely beautiful. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you which made us feel extremely welcome. One particular waiter actually asked if I was ok to have mayonnaise as he noticed I was heavily pregnant which was very considerate of him. We ate outside as the scenery was picturesque. The toilets were clean. There was absolutely nothing negative about the place. Overall highly recommended.
We haven't dined here for over two years and called in, and luckily got a table, as it is obviously a very popular eating place, and after having the meal I can see why!! We had the soup of the day (potato & leek) and chicken, bacon with olives and salad for starters, followed by chicken & mushrooms in white wine sauce with sauteed potatoes and a huge portion of freshly cooked veg. All the food is sourced locally and the meat is from the butchers down the road. It was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. As we left we booked for the Bank holiday Monday as we didn't want to worry about not getting a table!!
Very friendly atmosphere, good menu with great specials and the prices are excellent value for money.
This evening 3 June 2009 we were made very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed both curry and beef in ale pie. Coffees are also top class. New licensees recently deserve support.
We ate at the Spinner and Bergamot on Saturday night with friends. The dinning room is stylish and airy, the food (2 steaks, 1 steak and ale pie and 1 tomato risotto) was delicious, the house wine was delightful and the staff attentive. What more can I say it was a great evening and we will be back before too long.
First visit to this restaurant and its only on our doorstep. Excellent food and service. Nice surroundings. Will be visiting again very soon
it was very very good. great night out, my mum enjoyed it as well shame that daddy wasn't able to make it. well recommended.
excellent food, well worth a visit, really is the best on offer in the area
Had a superb lunch at The Carriers, Hatchmere after a gentle stroll in the lovely Delamere Forest. Service was attentive but unobtrusive. The scallops were like magic on a plate; the venison a real delight.
Fab food, fab place. lovely staff who can't do enough for you.
Absolutely gorgeous food for very reasonable prices. Lovely atmosphere and staff very eager to help. Best pub/restaurant food around!
We had a birthday party for 9 people and were looked after from start to finish. The service was friendly and the food was lovely. We would definitely come here again.
What a find! found and read the menu on Onionring and that tempted us to make the journey and give it a try (about 30 mins from home), glad we did. The Sunday roast was exceptional, all local meats and the rest of the menu also carries a lot of locally sourced ingredients which is great to see. One minor thing - the hugh Yorkshire pudding was all crisp and air, prefer mine a bit stodgier! Good service thought - will be back!
Outstanding value, excellent service, quality food.
You only have to look at the car park to see how popular this place is!
not been to cock o budworth for a long time, but wont leave it so long next time.great food, friendly obliging staff, and an overall pleasant experience,at a reasonable price.
very friendly and accomadating, first class service, food was excellent , concidering this was the first time we had set foot in the place everyone was very pleasant it felt like we were regulars, 10 out of ten, thank you for a great evening, will definatly be going back and would recomend anyone else to, very reasonably priced to, mr m collins.
When we arrived the place was packed with drinkers and people eating, the manageress cleared us a table and invited us to sit. This was our first visit you’d have thought we were regulars. The food was fresh and well presented, a very enjoyable evening.
Called in for the Friday 'curry nite', the 4 of us went unbooked at 8.30pm and just got in luckily (food finishes 9pm). The place was packed out and I would really suggest booking....
We decided to get a starter as they had run out of Naan bread and popperdums, WOW we coudnt belive the size of the starters as they looked like a main course....full, the main courses arrived, note theres many differant choices of meat and curry types so taste to suit all..!
The food was hot and of good quality. The service was excellent however i wud add they cud do with some background music to add some atmosphere....
We were well and truly fed and to tell you the truth i wasn't very hungry all next day.
We will definately be visiting again...
I cant fault this Indian at all, the foods nice, the service is spot on and the prices are more than fair, i go at least twice a month and always get totally looked after by the staff, i would recommend this place to anyone who wants a decent Indian in a nice relaxed environment.
Brilliant! the best food i've had in years and the young chef antony i think he's called is excellent and charming and very witty
staff friendly food exceptional highly recommend oven baked trout in provencal sauce
overnight stay with friends room comfortable and clean breakfast staff were exceptionally helpful would recommend to friends
Called in for early tea on the way home from Pageant of Power, seated quickly by very friendly staff. All 8 of us chose to have the Sunday Roast Special - wow what huge portions!! we had a mixture of lamb, beef and chicken (this turned out to be a whole small bird!) with lots of vegetables and potatoes. The staff really are exemplary - all requests were met cheerfully and promptly and the restaurant was full by the time we left. Highly recommended but make sure you are very, very hungry or do as I did and order a childs portion!
After the very positive Christmas works lunch at the plough my works team requested another lunch there, although 13 were booked table was set for 14 to allay the superstious, showing the thought management and staff put into the whole experience for the customer. we had prebooked meals, but not drings sweets or coffees. this was not a problem, all the food was served promptly with no one kept waiting which when you have a fixed lunch period is so nice. staff are always friendly polite curteous. Since my first visit in december i have taken many friends there and no one yet has said anything negative about the experience Keep it up and well done
Staff very frendly and welcoming.Best T bone steak ive ever eaten. The homemade chips were to die for. Definately go back. When passing that way again. Most highly recommended
As customers over the past five years we have seen no difference its still the same high standard as always keep up the good work
kind regards D&A PEARSON
Visited twice in the last 6 weeks, food is outstanding, thats why we have just booked a family meal for 6, for tomorrow lunchtime. You won't be disapppointed.
Took visiting family for a Saturday lunch. A quaint little place which looks tiny when you first enter but then opens up to a good sized restaurant. Home-made pies delicious as are the chips, lovely home-made soups and puddings. Pleasant and attentive waiter. Child friendly as long as they are well behaved. The only critical comment would be that the restaurant was deathly quiet, perhaps a little suitable background music playing gently would be a good idea. Apart from that a nice pub, really good place to take out of town visitors too, especially of the more mature age group.
Lovely food, friendly and professional service, welcoming atmosphere. Obvious attention by owners to small details. Will definitely re-visit.
The service in this pub is top it is a well presented pub as soon as you walk though the door your are welcomed by fantastic bar staff and they make you feel at home i enjoy going to the Tip on a thursday night it is fantastic
I have never visited a pub with such consistantly high standard of food. I have been visiting for over 5 years and never had a bad experience.
I love this pub because the food is always excellent, it has a nice vibe and it overlooks the canal.
It's lovely to sit out in the summer, but it always feels nice and cosy in the winter months too.
The new owners haven't done anything drastic but you can see improvements to the place here and there and the food is as good as always.
Well worth a visit just for a drink or even better for food!
The lasagne is gorgeous!!
Called in to see what the fuss is all about and wasn't disappointed. Good honest gastro pub grub, proud to be using quality local ingredients. Attentive service without being patronising and a nice menu choice and wine selection. The deserts are amazing!!!
Great place, we have been a few times. Good tapas and service.
It's the best Indian for miles.
Check out the chicken shazlic and ask for whatever sauce you fancy, it's spot on.
Good service, clean and tidy, recently recently refurnished and of course Kingfisher on draught.
Although the Stanley Arms has changed hands since the last reviews, standards have not slipped. In fact, if anything, they have improved. The new landlord and his family are extremely helpful and accommodating. The food is great, and the ale well kept.
Outside seating overlooking the Trent & Mersey canal has been rebuilt.
Jeans are not allowed in the restaurant, and children are not allowed in the public bar, which I think is fair exchange.
IPA is £2 pp.
the best Indian food bar none, enough said !
excellent food excellent service
We had lunch at the Duke today, and it was the perfect choice to get away from work for a nice meal. My friend had the Steak sanwich and I had the delicious club stack with chicken, bacon and egg. The service was friendly and efficient and I will recommend it to my colleagues.
Visited the Cock O' Budworth today for the first time. Will definitely be coming here again. Delicious home cooked food , excellent service and the staff were very polite and helpful. Very good value for money and the bread and butter pudding on the new menu is heavenly!!!!
Abdul and his staff offer the very best indian cuisine. There is always a very warm and friendly astmosphere and is by far the best indian restaurant in the area.
Fantastic..friendly to the extreme.Carol will know all her guests by the end of the visit. food to die for. Excellent value. A well run Family pub. Good guest beers always available. recommend you book to avoid disappointment..
Good food & nice, relaxed atomosphere, staff very friendly & polite. Prices are reasonable too. Would def recommend the set meals as they are great value and you get plenty. The Sunday buffet is also brill, however it does get very busy at times so best to book if possible.
I ate there last night with my husband and children, aged 6 and 4. Although the decor was standard gastropub brown leather sofas, the children were made very welcome as soon as we walked in. They do not have a children's menu but we could have ordered a mini-version of the adult choice. Additionally, the kitchen could make most pasta sauces or chicken nuggets if they were preferred. What a pleasant change to eat somewhere with good food that the whole family can enjoy - why should children have the standard kiddie slop? Anyway, we had 2 courses for £9.95, very good value - a creamy pasta dish to start followed by a slab of succulent pork with steamed green veg - all beautifully presented and delicious. The boys had homemade organic chicken nuggets - pieces of chicken in a wonderfully light, crisp batter with homemade crunchy chips followed by Cheshire Farm ice-cream. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and we shall definitely return.
We have eaten their many times and are greatly impressed by the service the staff and the menu. Recommend it to everyone FANTASTIC.
Have eaten several times - the most recent being only two weeks ago. Food is excellent, the portions are not for the faint hearted and the staff are fantastic; nothing is too much trouble. Recommended
Had dinner there yesterday evening, and it was a very pleasant evening. Staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. My partner had delicious carrot and orange soup for starters, I ordered sardines but couldnt eat them as just too many tiny bones. I mentioned that to the waitress who informed her manager it was removed from the bill. Main courses were outstanding... the local beef is pricey but delicious, and the veal was also very good. Only comment there is that there should have been some veg of some sort served with the Veal - only potatos and meat - which just let it down slightly. Desserts also excellent, and a nice relaxing coffee in the squishy sofas finished the evening perfectly. Would definitely recommend and definitely will return, but overall feel it is just a tad on the pricey side, which would be more justified if a couple of small improvements were made, i.e. some vegetables with the main course.
What a shame … this used to be a lovely place to visit, especially during the summer. There was a time when most Saturday lunchtimes would be spent at The Leigh Arms with friends. The Salmon Caesar Salad a particular favourite. Unfortunately, of late, it appears to have gone downhill. The service is appalling and on occasion the attitude of staff has left a lot to be desired. This I could put up with if the food was worth it, but regretfully, it’s not!
Would not recommend.
If you’re in the area, just a little further down the A49 (towards Warrington) you’ll find The Stretton Fox on the M56 roundabout. Not the greatest and a limited menu but if you’re looking for somewhere in that area, that gets my recommendation. I had Sea Bass in a crab and tarragon sauce and my friend had Rump of Lamb, both of which we thoroughly enjoyed. Plus they serve until 10pm most nights which is always a bonus if you’re running late!!
My partner and I have eaten several times at the plough - food is delicious, freshly cooked and the portions are very generous. The restaurant has a lovely relaxing atmosphere and the service is very friendly and polite! - I cant recommend it enough. I had the fish and chips the only thing i can say about this meal is wow!!!
Everything you need in a pub, 7 cask ales on, the Highgate Fury was a feast in itself. Apparently i'm told by the ladies the wine selection is great. Food totally first class, been in twice in 3 weeks & the menu has being different with some lovely local touches. An oasis for Cheshire! by the way first pub i've ever known to make their own bread, wonderful
We went Sat eve and it was fairly busy. Good service if a little slow at times. Good food - my fish was beautifully cooked but the accompaniments were a not very exciting - a pity.
The best plate of Fish & Chips outside Yorkshire!!
My Wife had the Gammon, The kids had baguettes.
All the plates went back empty!!
Great Service & great price!!
Being from Manchester and a regular in Rusholme, I have to say I would put this place up alongside anything I have experienced along the curry mile. Exceptional starters, main course and naan bread, great service, all round excellent.
We went here for Sunday lunch and really can't fault anything - I had the 3 course lunch menu and everything was delicious, particularly the roast local pork and the chocolate and raspberry semi-freddo. The decor is stunning and very inviting on a wet & windy winter's day. The service was also impeccable - we'll definitely be going back.
We stumbled across this place at weekend. Great beers, good food and a nice place to go with the family. Will be back!
We regularly eat at the Riverside & have almost always received excellent service & food. On the one occasion where we were not entirely happy the staff were very good at making amends. Of all the family restaurant chains this one has to be the best with regard to the interior & the choice of menu. That combined with the fantastic buy-one-get-one-free offer it means that a very enjoyable meal out needn't cost as much as other rivals.
GOOD, FRIENDLY, COSY AND UNPRETENSIOUS ATMOSPHERE, VERY RAPID SERVICE, FOOD VERY GOOD, GOOD BANTER WITH LOCALS. WILL BE RETURNING!
friendly welcome, excellent food, fairly priced, will return soon !
Have visited the Plough on a couple of occasions this year and every time the food has been fabulous. I would recommend booking for busier times as they do get quite busy.
The food is all home cooked and plenty of it! Lots of selection on the menu. The staff are also extremely friendly and professional.
A great little pub with excellent food - definitely worth a visit.
On my first visit to England I found myself having my first and last meal at The Leigh Arms. Both times I really enjoyed the food; the desert selection is also quite good. The Service was OUTSTANDING!! Highly recommended!
I love Indian cuisine and Cheshire tandoori is by far the best Indian restaurant i have ever been to. always greeted with a warm welcome, I have been numerous times now and feel it just gets better every time. I have always been a fussy eater but whenever I try something new on the menu I always seem to like it. I would recommend this understated restaurant to anyone. Thank you.
Very nice open restaurant and recently refurbished. Always busy but service is always efficient whether sitting in or taking away.
The food is good, and well priced. The takeaway portions are large and are always good. Its definately worth trying the all you can eat buffet on a sunday, with loads of variety.
One of the few curry houses we have tried in the area but have no reason to look elsewhere when we no what to expect here.
Excellent Sunday Lunch Great Wine plus we could walk home. What more can you ask for on a Sunday afternoon.
This was the first time we have been here for food and we will definitely be back, we will be recommending The Leigh Arms to everyone as a great pub/restaurant with good service and excellent food. I recommend the thai style chicken kebab... its out of this world.
The food at The Tip is excellent and extremely good value for money... Enough said.
This pub is absolutely fantastic, the beers are great and the food is out of this world regardless of which of the fantastic chefs deals with your order. I would recommend this place to anyone, even if it does mean going out of your way to get there. Well worth the trip. Cheers.
