Heathercliffe Country House
Hotel
Heathercliffe is one of Cheshire’s finest Victorian Country Houses set amidst its own private ten acre estate of park and woodland where the character of the traditional country house has been combined with the finest cuisine and luxurious accommodation, providing a unique environment in which to relax.
Weddings
One could hardly imagine a more spectacular setting for a wedding. A former Victorian Country House set in its own private hilltop grounds of park and woodland. A photographers paradise, it is now a privately owned Country House Hotel with breathtaking views over the surrounding countryside.
Formerly the home of the America multi-millionaire John Paul Getty 1st and more recently the Queen of Yugoslavia, it has been used extensively by the television and film industry. The Heathercliffe is the haunt of the rich and famous, with visitors like George Clooney and Uma Thurman to name but two.
Recently totally refurbished The Heathercliffe is a fusion of Victorian elegance with contemporary sophistication creating one of Cheshire’s most luxurious small hotels.
The Mackintosh Restaurant, named after the famous architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh - whose work can be seen adorning this former half panelled ballroom - acts as the superb main banqueting suite whilst the Red Room provides a more intimate venue for the smaller gathering.
Mike and Sheila Cooksley with their staff at the Heathercliffe have been offering professional wedding facilities for over 25 years, providing the highest quality of personal service and advice second to none.
The Heathercliffe is also licensed for Civil Weddings, Civil Partnership Ceremonies and Naming Ceremonies.
Exclusivity of the house and grounds subject to size of wedding.

I was looking at the place as a possible venue for my wedding, but was a nervous at the reviews on trip advisor as most of them are very bad. So me and my sister decided to go on a friday night and i must it was lovely, the staff couldnt do enough for you, very helpful. The service was second to none. The food was great, very good value for money at around £12 for 3 courses. As a 25 year old i thought it was going to bad but it really was fab, Definitely a possible wedding venue for me. The only thing bad was the drinks are quite pricey but everything else was really great.

I decided to book a table for our family for my husbands 65th birthday at the Heathercliffe. From when we arrived to when we left we had personal treatment by all the staff. The food was excellent and plentiful. Nothing was to much trouble, we even took a bithday cake and it was lite and brought into the dinning room and everyone sang 'Happy Birthday' to my husband, which really made his day.
My family and myself would not hesitate to visit again in the future.

We recently visited The Heathercliffe Hotel in February. The Hotel is located in beautiful countryside and is reached along a country lane; it is however well signposted. The grounds are well cared for with ample parking. We arrived to a very warm welcome from the staff on duty. The entrance and two open lounges are very comfortable and relaxing. We had drinks and coffee in the lounge, my coffee was refilled at no extra charge. The Hotel has free WiFi which I connected to with no problem at all. I was very impressed with our bedroom which had a lovely en-suite bathroom. I have to say this is probably the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in! I particularly loved the detail to period features in the room. All the amenities you would expect were available eg TV with magazine, tea & coffee facilities and very nice toiletries in the bathroom. Coming down to dinner in the evening we were welcomed and shown to the Dining room. The scene was set by the very knowledgeable waitress, beautiful linen and glassware on the table. We dipped into the special menu, 3 courses for £10 and also the main menu and our bill was adjusted accordingly. I am still amazed at the quality of the food for the price we paid, it really was exceptional and I have no hesitation in making a recommendation. We both opted for the Full English Breakfast, brilliant, not a hash brown or beans in sight! There was also self service choice of juice, fruit salad, cereals, croissants, muffins and rolls. We had a very enjoyable stay and will certainly be returning.

Heard about this hotel from the onionring newsletter. It is hidden away in the hills of Frodsham but clearly signposted.
The service and meal were really good, but there were only 4 of us eating in the dining room.
We went for the 4 course menu at £25 per head, plenty of choices on each course. Would go again.

We have recently stayed overnight at the Heathercliffe Hotel and both the food and service was second to none.
Every member of staff we came into contact with was extremely friendly and very professional. The food was first class, particularly the steak and accompaniments. Whilst we were waiting for our starter the waiter brought out delicious homemade bread, olives and dips.
I would highly recommend the Heatherclife Hotel for anyone looking for a first class experience.
Thanks to the Heathercliffe Hotel for a lovely weekend.

RE: Review by Derek, Frodsham on 11/6/06
Dear Onionring
For a professional organisation that relies totally on the degree of service and level of satisfaction, always prepared to listen to constructive criticism, it always comes as something of a disappointment when customers are unable, for whatever reason, to indicate their dissatisfaction at the point of delivery giving opportunity for establishments to correct any perceived shortcomings.
Whilst websites like you own are to be congratulated in providing a platform whereby the public can air their dissatisfaction, and in so doing help to improve standards in the leisure industry, they inevitably spawn an ease of anonymity for customers who do not appreciate that establishments like the Heathercliffe can only make a positive contribution to correcting mistakes at the point of delivery rather than a belated apology which by its very nature benefits neither party.
Where we have not maintained the highest standards that our customers expect of us then without equivocation we will always seek to redress the position but without specific comments and after a delay we find that very difficult other than to apologise unreservedly!
In an effort to show our continued pursuit for excellence we have no problem with this review being shown on your website however, would hope that in an effort to show balance that you would also show this response?
