Have eaten at 1539 frequently and at different times/ occasions and the standard of food & wine is uniformly high, at good prices. Most ingredients are locally sourced, and the kitchen does good things with them! The wine list runs from £16-cost of a car, but the lower/ mid section is wide and well researched, providing good value. (Phil knows his wines!) Lovely view over racecourse towards Welsh hills, and comfy chairs. V good for all the family esp. at Sunday Lunch.

Just had the £10 lunch menu and it was quite simply outstanding and when coupled with their customer service (which is much improved) this is a lunch time experience I want to scream about DELICIOUS! I even found myself licking the knife!

We had a fantastic experience in the restaurant on a race day, beautifully presented food which tasted as good as it look. Decent wine list and good service throughout - recommended to all!

WOW, what a meal! Despite the fact that the restaurant was totally booked up and that it was one of the busiest days of the year, valentines; the service was faultless and the food was impeccable. The layout was great so much so that we felt like the only people viewing the amazing surroundings. A real high point to our weekend, and the bill wasn't!!thanks

Wow! Amazing! the place is stunning, the staff are friendly and smiling, and the food's great. Good value too. We had 3 courses and a (decent)bottle of wine for £50. Try it

We ate here after Chester races and had a fantastic meal for two. Although we were nearly an hour early we were seated with a drink and menu straight away. The menu choices are outstanding and the prices aren't as high as you'd expect. We had oysters, followed by three courses each, 3 peroni's, 1 bottle of water + tip was £80. Best lamb I've ever tasted as well. The full menu is on there own website. We would highly recommend this restaurant.
