KOOP on Bold Street opens its doors

Bold Street's hottest new dining concept has opened its doors.

Koop - previously Chez Le Coq - specialises in the three classics: chicken, burgers and shakes.

It will also be the only restaurant in the city to offer a comprehensive selection of buffalo-style chicken wings - with diners playfully asked 'What's Your Flavour?' each time. Each serving of wings, made fresh to order, will be tossed in your choice of eight flavours including Original Buffalo (the signature); Thai Sweet Chilli; Smokey BBQ; Garlic and Parmesan; or Oriental Express. Wings will be available in servings of 5 (two flavours), 10 (two flavours) or 20 (four flavours).

Formerly Chez Le Coq and still run by the same management, Koop will offer diners the same fresh options, with some more unique menu items, and a trendier, more vibrant New York-influenced setting.

Also on the menu will be - quarter, half and full rotisserie chicken with your choice of heat - garlic & herb, medium or hot - and a side ranging from peri-peri fries to hot jalapeno bites; flame-grilled chicken and steak options served with fries or rice; hand-breaded chicken fillets; healthy, colourful chicken and vegetarian salads; burgers and wraps; and homemade puddings. Mains start at just £4.

Items are also halal.

To wash down your meal, choose from a large selection of homemade shakes made in front of you at Koop's shake bar. Flavours range from The Naughty Nutella (nutella, triple chocolate brownier, chocolate sauce and homemade ice cream) to the protein-packed Go Nuts (peanut butter, banana and ice cream). All priced at around the £3 mark.

The revamped eatery will also include a large open kitchen; quirky, bright-coloured deco with plenty of neon lighting; and a heritage frontage to fit in with the look of Bold Street.

Co-owners Amine Elgueddar and Otto Mellouki said Koop aims to become Liverpool's number-one chicken dining destination.

Otto said: "Chicken wings are our signature dish, so it seemed only right to offer hungry Bold Streeters free wings to celebrate our opening. We can't wait to welcome Liverpool's chicken-lovers with the best, freshest and tastiest chicken dishes.

"For now, the only question we ask the city's diners to answer is - 'What's Your Flavour?'"

Koop, located next to the pair's existing popular Moroccan restaurant Kasbah, also offers a take-away delivery service to city homes and offices.

Koop is open now on Bold Street.
