Garcon may just be the restaurant that put the snails in Wales. Well, perhaps not literally but you will certainly find escargots au beurre à l'ail on the menu, alongside a host of other traditional French dishes. There are two menus in operation here: the lighter bistro menu and the more extensive à la carte. The bistro menu is offered between 12 and 5pm, providing more 'lunchy' meals, such as petit moules frites and salade Nicoise. There is also an unthreatening children's menu for youngsters, all of which are cooked fresh to order. Dining at Garcon in the evening could see you choosing from pan-fried foie gras with chutney, steak tartare with fries, bread crumbed scallops and the royal seafood platter. Contrary to the perception of the French as committed carnivores, vegetarians are well catered for here and can indulge in roasted bell peppers with couscous, seeds and a red pepper coulis or perhaps a tian of celeriac with mushroom duxelle and a herb butter sauce. The wine list is extensive offering simple, rustic wines through to complex vintages, according to your taste.
