Set in Devon's idyllic Dartmouth, the New Angel has already achieved its first Michelin Star, thanks to the talents of celebrity-chef, John Burton Race. The restaurant offers three floors in which to snack, dine and drink, from the bustling kitchen-floor and the snug lounge-bar to the stylish first-floor dining room. As one would expect from a celebrated chef, the menu is an Aladdin's cave of gastronomic treasures; dishes such as ham hock with foie gras and piccalilli, local venison with red cabbage and peppercorn sauce and, the signature meal of lemon sole with clam, cockle and tomato butter sauce are cooked attentively and served with panache. Meals are seasonal and locally sourced, costing around £60 a head for a three-course meal.
