Excellent. The only word to describe this friendly family run restaurant is excellent. I visited Something Special on Saturday 7th August, I had a wonderful evening. I can recommend the Bourguignon Boeuf, it was superb, the meat was tender and soft, it fell to pieces in your mouth and the flavour was perfect, not too much garlic, but the flavour came through. One of my friends had the Escargot, which was very well presented and tasted exquisite. I have to recommend the Creme Brulee for dessert, it was lovely and light but tasted rich at the same time, a perfect end to the meal, my friend had the swan meringue, which I have to say looked divine. It was made from shaped pieces of meringue and cream and looked quite magnificent. After speaking to the new proprietor it is evident that he knows a lot about the sourcing of his ingredients and this shows through in the dishes that were prepared. He was also keen to develop the wine list and mentioned that he was meeting new suppliers. The only down side to this restaurant is the decor, it is in need of an update, but it is very clean and well presented throughout, just needs bringing into the 21st century. The prices were very reasonable too, around £20 per head for a 3 course meal with reasonably priced drinks. I would recommend this bistro to anyone, truly excellent.
