The Red Lion in Northop undergoes big changes

Its been a busy few weeks for the team behind the Red Lion in the centre of Northop village. Not only have they taken on a full renovation of the pub inside and out, they have brought in new staff including a head chef and have re-written their menus.

Kelly and Jamie aren't your average pub owners though. They wouldn't settle for a watered down renovation. "I wanted to get the interior right, the quality of the chair you are sat on makes a big difference - you have to feel comfy!" Kelly told me. They are indeed comfy chairs (note to self - ask Kelly where she got them as one would fit perfect in my reading corner).

The mix of textures and fabrics along with a muted pallet of greys and smokey blues really change the atmosphere, making it more modern yet more homely too. The scaffold shelving and the filament lighting add an industrial edgyness about the interior, softened by the rich wooden bar and detailing.

The dishes are inspired by newbie Head Chef Mark, a local lad made good. All are beautifully presented and taste as good as they look, and of course, offer great value for money. The Sunday carvery is a Red Lion tradition, it is now served through a hatch to the kitchen.

Overall you'll find a fresh, revitalised pub offering fresh, exciting food and tip top service. Oh, they also painted the whole outside, landscaped and had new signage installed.... I promise that's everything!
