Ego Celebrates 10 years

Ego celebrate their tenth birthday this week with the first restaurant in Heswall opening in 1999. Since then the company has gone from strength to strength, slowly expanding when perfect neighbourhood locations came up.

Community is still at the core of the Ego philosophy. Much of its food is locally sourced and it has helped raise thousands of pounds for local charities over the years and supports schools all over town.

General manager Lisa Mower at Heswall, who has been at the restaurant for the majority its successful first decade, said: “Ego is still the most popular eating place in town and always has an energetic buzz about it. Even in today’s climate we’re exceptionally busy – with local people, businesses and families. There have been plenty of highlights over the past ten years, including our popular junior chef schools and healthy eating programmes for primary school children.

“Our Saturday live music nights are a real draw and Sundays, in true Mediterranean style, are focused on the whole family with children’s entertainment a roaring success for our younger visitors. We recently introduced monthly theme nights on the first Wednesday of every month which focus on particular areas of the Mediterranean which are proving extremely popular."

“Ego has a wonderful holiday feel about it – a combination of laid back relaxation and freshly prepared food. One of our favourite words is “loveliness” and that’s what we’re all about here – lovely place, lovely food, lovely people, and lovely atmosphere. We aim to carry on being lovely for many years to come.”
