Less is definitely MORE at Byron Hamburgers

I have eaten a lot of burgers over the last 12 months, a LOT.

Whether it’s one of the daring types which needs to be eaten with a dislocated jaw in Manchester’s NQ or one from a M6 service station which look like it’s been run over; I have probably eaten more than your typical American.

Why is this? Well let’s be honest, it’s hard not to as they are everywhere you look.....supermarkets, petrol stations, train stations; it’s only a matter of time before a library has the golden arches swinging with pride above it.

With this in mind, it is essential, VITAL even, that you sift through this invasion and pick out the good from the downright ugly.

I was going to bore you with a full list of my favourites, but everybody is different. Some like it pink, some like it plain, and some of you can only eat it without a bun due to coeliacs – so this made no sense to me.

What I will tell you however is that the new Byron burger joint on Deansgate is by far my favourite so far. Good meat, good bun, good salad, good service and good beer.

Byron’s ethos is doing it right and giving the burger some respect, and like any other decent restaurant; letting the quality ingredients speak for themselves.

Yes it costs a bit more (£6-9 per burger with sides as extra), but boy is it worth it. Luke was our waiter and helped make our mind up by going for a Byron (bacon and cheese) and a plain with extra chillis and chipotle mayo. Our sides consisted of fries, skin-on chips and some onion rings (natch).

Drinks included Camden Brewery’s Hells Lager and Byron Lager, plus fresh lemonade which was incredibly good!

From start to finish; the entire experience was phenomenal. A busy restaurant with good food and drink plus a personal service; that is all we all want surely?
