Release the hound! Meet Byron’s latest special: Freddar Dawg
On 21st July, Byron welcome a new special to the menu - Freddar Dawg, the hamburger that thinks it’s a hot dog.
Freddar Dawg is a 6oz patty served in a hot dog roll, with streaky bacon, onion, pickles – and the debut of one very special ingredient, only found at Byron...Freddar cheese.
The idea for the new special came about after Byron’s Head Chef, Fred Smith, and founder, Tom Byng, visited the Father’s Office diner in Santa Monica, CA, which is famous for its hamburger-hot-dog hybrids.
To create a Byron version of this mongrel of a meal, Fred introduced a generous portion of Freddar cheese – his own take on the classic sliced American cheese that we all know and love.
Freddar’s top-secret recipe has all the vibrant colour and melty goodness of American cheese, but packs a serious flavour punch thanks to the carefully-chosen blend of Grana Padano, Red Leicester and (naturally) mature Cheddar.
“Sometimes bright yellow, perfectly melting cheese is just what you want on a cheeseburger.” says Fred. “American cheese ticks all those boxes, but it can lack flavour, so I knew we could go one better at Byron and create a cheese that would taste just as good as it looks. After years of fine-tuning the recipe, the result is Freddar: American cheese, done properly.”
Freddar Dawg: 6oz hamburger, Freddar cheese, streaky bacon, pickles, onion, shredded iceberg, American mustard and Byron sauce. £10.95
