New magazine for Liverpool
Brand new online Liverpool magazine Urbanista is set to launch on 11th June 2014 during a glittering launch party held at local Seel Street club Empire.
Set to be an editorial hub of all things from culture to food and drink, music to travel and style and beauty to sport, the magazine will keep the people of Liverpool and beyond both entertained and informed about what is going on in the city.
With a core goal to be non-pretentious, relatable, educational, enlightening and humorous when possible, the magazine will offer budding writers the opportunity to showcase their work, whilst promoting Liverpool and informing readers of just what is going on and where.
The magazine aims to get to know the people, businesses and communities of Liverpool, whilst listening to the demand from the readers, rather than dictating what they will read.
The Urbanista mantra is to be selective but never snobbish and intellectual but street smart, allowing the magazine to deliver a product to the people, by the people.
(Founder @ Urbanista) Geniene Reese has worked successfully in Business Development and Public relations for over 10 years and developed the idea to fill gaps in the market that she felt were being massively overlooked.
Geniene said: “I noticed that Liverpool needed a really good online magazine that offered all forms of writing, from serious feature writing to humours topical copy and anything in between.
“I wanted to create something that people would seek out to read, not just fall across it by chance. Urbanista is set to be an outlet that will hopefully engage and inform readers in a way that is interesting and enjoyable.”
Working alongside Geniene on the Urbanista vision as head of content is local Liverpool journalist Amy Blacklock, who has worked internationally as a features writer, magazine editor and reporter.
Amy said: “I had thought for a long time that a new digital magazine would be a great asset to the city, so when Geniene told me about Urbanista, I knew I was on board before she had finished her sentence.
“We want to work with trainee journalists, writers and anybody who loves Liverpool as much as we do; the one thing we ask for a real passion for the city that we are extremely proud of.”
