Grafene launches new small plates and bar treats menu

Grafene restaurant is launching a small plates option to go with its a la carte menu – along with a range of tasty bar treats including its very own ‘Our Kid Burger’.

Diners now have small plate alternatives to all the a la carte dishes (except steaks) allowing them to enjoy the daily changing market-based menu at any sitting, whatever their budget.

The a la carte and small plates menus sit alongside the £49.50 seven-course taster menu.

Owner Paul Roden says: “We’ve been delighted with the response from the Manchester public to our Real Food philosophy. People are loving the food, décor and atmosphere.

But the amazing Modern British cooking here is not exclusive, and nor are the prices. The small plates allow people to put together their own great value meals.

There’s a new Grafene bar treats menu too - one tasty option is the ‘Our Kid Burger,’ using delicious kid goat meat supplied by Cabrito, 2014 winner of an Observer Food Monthly award.

The company was founded by ex-River Cottage chef James Whetlor.

Through a local cheese supplier, Whetlor realised that over 90,000 billies (boy goats) born are slaughtered each year, because they do not produce milk for goat’s cheese.

Paul Roden, owner of Grafene, says: “Kid goat meat is sustainable and really flavoursome. You could say the ‘Our Kid Burger’ is a nod to our Northern roots! It shows our fun, informal Real Food approach, using superb non-GM and artisan produce.

The small plates, bar treats and local beers means our Real Food menu is now open to the widest possible city centre crowd.

The bar treats menu is offered at any time of day, and alongside the Our Kid Burger, offers Lancashire cheese rarebit, fried duck egg, venison sausage rolls and black pudding bon bons with apple puree.

They are served alongside Grafene’s local and regional beers which include Dr. Rudi from Brightside Brewery in Bury and Liberty Pils from Freedom brewery in Staffordshire.
