Historical Venues most popular with business delegates

Research carried out by Keele Conferences has revealed that many delegates attending business conferences and events would prefer them to be held in a stately home – with over half of those surveyed choosing this option over a more modern venue.

Over 90 per cent of respondents to the survey also said that they would prefer to attend an event at a venue with some historical significance, with most saying that these venues leave delegates with a lasting impression of the event.

Keele Conferences runs a portfolio of event venues on Keele University’s campus, including the 19th century stately home, Keele Hall and the purpose-built Keele Management Centre. Following its recent £300,000 refurbishment, Keele Hall’s Ballroom is now the largest conferencing and events venue in Staffordshire and can accommodate up to 500 guests for banquets and conferences.

Marcus Wilson, Sales & Marketing Manager for Keele Conferences, comments: “We were surprised that the survey we conducted into preferred event venues showed that business people favour historical venues. Many event organisers choose purpose-built conference venues with up-to-the-minute facilities for business events, believing that those with more character don’t have the technology on the premises. This, of course, isn’t the case. At Keele, we have the best of both worlds, combining a rural, historical setting with state-of-the-art venues equipped for almost any type or size of event.”

The survey also revealed that event goers aren’t necessarily more likely to attend events held in big cities, with over 80 per cent finding somewhere accessible set in attractive grounds, the most appealing location.
