Pieminister brings its award winning pies and cider to Manchester’s Northern Quarter

After much anticipation, Pieminister opens its first pie and cider restaurant in the heart of the City. Already known by many in the North West for its delicious and original pies, Pieminister’s restaurant offers first-rate food and cider all day and evening, to eat-in or take away.

Now pie-lovers can enjoy their favourite flavours encased in Pieminister’s famously perfect pastry with sides of creamy mashed potato, minty mushy peas and rich red wine gravy. For £7.95 try the legendary Mothership (that’s your pie and sides topped with crispy shallots and cheddar cheese). The company’s classics include champion pies like the moo pie (British beef steak, ale and green peppercorns), the chicken of aragon pie (free range British chicken, bacon, shallots and tarragon) and the vegetarian heidi pie (goats’ cheese, sweet potato, spinach and red onion). This is the first time Pieminister’s full range has been available in Manchester, so customers can try some of the newer recipes; the free ranger, deerstalker and peahock pies are just a few of the newcomers.

The menu also features ploughman’s platters with artisan cheeses, handmade scotch eggs or luxury sausage rolls. There’s a selection of British bar snacks to nibble on too. Enjoy your pie feast West Country-style with one of the excellent ciders on offer. Or try some British craft beers or wine.

Jon Simon, pieminister founder says,
‘The people of Manchester know a thing or two about good pies so we’re flattered to have had such a great response already to our arrival. Many first discovered our pies at Glastonbury and the other music festivals we pitch up at each summer, probably washed down with a cider. Now you can experience this perfect pairing all year round, without having to leave town!’

Decked-out with utilitarian design features and a fresh, original Pieminister style (think neon signs, bare brickwork and festoon lighting) the atmosphere is laid-back. And with high chairs, baby-changing facilities and WiFi, this is somewhere for everyone, any time. Come for coffees with colleagues, pie feasts with family, lazy Sunday munching with mates and with the new, later opening hours, it’s a great place for a pie and pint pit-stop in the evening. Pieminister is open all week from 11am to 8pm (12noon to 5pm on Sunday).

It’s been 10 years since Jon Simon and Tristan Hogg baked their first pies and since then, the range has won numerous awards for taste and quality. All Pieminister’s pies are made in-house using good, honest ingredients including 100% British beef, outdoor reared pork, free range chicken and venison and MSC certified fish. The vegetarian pies are approved by the Vegetarian Society and contain artisan British cheeses.
