Trafford College Students Reveal Festive Gingerbread House in Five-Star Lowry Hotel Lobby

The five-star Lowry Hotel is showcasing its partnership with Trafford College in the form of a giant Christmas gingerbread house, created by four of the college’s students in the double AA rosette River Restaurant.

The seasonally decorated edible house forms the sweet centrepiece of a Christmas gifts display in the hotel’s entrance lobby; visitors can buy exclusive treats for their loved ones, from mince pies and gingerbread baked in-house at the River Restaurant to gift vouchers and QMS Skincare from the hotel’s spa.

The five-star Lowry Hotel offers students studying Food Preparation and Catering or Pastry and Confectionery a 3-week work experience course alongside Executive Head Chef, Andrew Green. It has long since had an affiliation with the college, which also holds 1 AA College rosette, as well as a Centre of Excellence in Pastry and Confectionery and Food and Beverage Service.

Executive Head Chef, Andrew Green said: “It’s great that we can offer our expertise to the students and it provides invaluable experience for them to work in a live kitchen.

We wanted to celebrate our partnership with the college during the Christmas period and the gingerbread house was a fun project for the students. It’s very rewarding for them that we can display their work for all the hotel’s visitors to see.

The gingerbread house kicks off festivities in the River Restaurant kitchen; its Christmas menu is available throughout December which includes mouth-watering seasonal dishes such as game terrine with Cumberland jelly to start and roast organic Hade Edge turkey with rosemary stuffing ball for the main course.
