Mel finds her oasis in the Trafford Centre!

If you are like me and loathe the idea of shopping in the Trafford Centre during this busy busy time, then fear not as I have only gone and found an absolute treat of a restaurant smack bang in the middle of the Great Hall.

No, I am not talking about TGI Fridays or Spudulike, but Saffran; a brand new restaurant where the lovely KRO once stood.

Saffran is quickly becoming the new place for your chicken fix and rightly so pronouncing themselves as the king of chicken in the mall with their quirky ‘chicken challenge’ advertising!

Originating from Iceland and now with outlets in the States, Saffran serves a whole host of quick dishes from light salads to tandoori grills and of course their own safflats which is a type of pizza Saffran style!

We’ve all been to the Trafford Centre, either shopping or at the cinema and usually decide to eat at one of the many outlets nearby – either in the main canteen with one off a hundred different cuisines, or packed in a Nando’s. I thought I’d try Saffran as it seemed more relaxed, yet busy with no ‘condiment station’, and was more spacious i.e. I wasn’t sitting on a neighbouring diner’s lap.

As I had seen the chicken challenge, I thought I’d try it out (and got 15% off in the process – nice). You order at the bar, much like their competitors, minus the queue. My chicken burger was seriously good and much better than anything else I had eaten in the shopping centre! Pretty spicy, soft bun and fresh salad – that’s all you need really in my opinion; not too complicated.

What Saffran have managed to do however is use quality ingredients and all homemade at that – i could really taste the difference and suggest you all do too!

So next time you are in a shop getting elbowed around with crying children deafening you, take yourself away to Saffran and relax with some quality chicken.

About Saffran

Jay Jamchi opened the first SAFFRAN restaurant in Glæsibær, Iceland, back in 2009 before opening two more in Iceland as well as a branch in Orlando, Florida.

Now, the award winning casual restaurant has opened its first UK outlet in the Great Hall at The Trafford Centre, Manchester.

What makes SAFFRAN different is all meals are 100% healthy while they still serve burgers, pizzas, Tandoori chicken dishes and more.

Well, you ask, how do they do it? The answer is in the ingredients and the way they cook it. All made delicious with the natural herbs, spices and flavours of the world.

Even the desserts are sugar free.

All cooking methods are true to the principle of staying healthy while adding something different to the taste experience.

SAFFRAN's Master Chef has travelled the culinary globe and found amazing natural flavours, herbs, and spices to give their menu it's amazing tastes.

Jay Jamchi believes people will only eat healthy if you offer them something that tastes better than the bad foods they currently eat.

This is the key to SAFFRAN's success, they serve the best food while at the same time there's a plus, it's good for you too and all meals are less than 650 calories.

Most people don't believe them when they're told that.

The menu is a fusion of European, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern cuisine, so there is something appetizing for everyone.

SAFFRAN make a bold claim to now have the best food in the Trafford Centre, arguing it's the best value too.
