Sometimes there’s nothing more daunting than a menu... for Frankie
Pages upon pages of small-print, detailing multiples of dishes, a never-ending conveyor belt, each one described as mouth-wateringly as the last. But after a hard day at the office, deciding between this and that, how and what – how do you make such an impossible decision?!

That’s easy, take a right on King Street and head straight to Burger and Lobster.
No need for menus, this establishment focuses on three delectable delights; lobster, a burger or a lobster roll. Sounds simple enough, but created to perfection by sourcing some of the finest quality ingredients to ensure every bite gives you a lip-smacking bang for your buck.
Traditional tiled flooring, lobster tanks and pinterest-worthy lighting sets the tone to unite trendy and sophisticated surroundings, with positively clawsome eats.
An extremely endearing quality to the restaurant is its team of passionate and enthusiastic staff. Each server we encountered had an air of pride as they delved into the favouring’s of their dish of choice and what had sealed their fate as eternal members of either Team Burger or Team Lobster.
Their eyes shone as they gave in-depth detail of the famous garlic and butter sauce which accompanied the lobster dish; whilst others tried to control their joy as they discussed each delectable element of the rich meaty patty. Pair this with their extensive knowledge and creativity of the in-house cocktails invented to compliment each dish, and we knew we were in for a treat.
When ordering the lobster, you’ll be met with the choice of having your catch steamed or grilled. Choosing steamed will give you the fluffiest and light lobster meat, pure white and mild (unless you “accidently” pour the whole jug of garlic butter into the lobster shell…my bad!) Whereas grilled will give the meat a unique smokey, barbeque flavour; a great option if you’re looking to intensify your lobster experience.
Regardless of which option you go for, you’ll be eager to get your claws on it.
If shellfish isn’t your bag, there’s no need to worry; you’ll be more than spoilt with the bodacious burger that’s on offer.
Straight from the rolling hills of Nebraska, Burger and Lobster take three sumptuous cuts of steak to create their flavoursome patty with no need for any additional ingredients.
A layer of golden bubbling cheese and a rasher of bacon for an extra kick of salty-meat-goodness are the final flourishes before this flavour train is hugged from both sides by a fluffy, seeded bun and the usual salad suspects.
Weighing in at a juicy 10oz the burger itself is almost impossibly thick and proves to be a bit of a struggle when trying to get your chops round the towering creation; but you’ll truly taste every ounce of this delicious meaty patty – and since when was neatness ever next to deliciousness?
My only tip? Grab this burger with both hands and devour from upside down, this way all those luscious juices sink into every layer, giving you that mouth-watering meaty flavour throughout. It’ll be your most unforgettable trip to the rodeo.
Now, I am exceptionally guilty in saving the best for last, but trust me, it’s well worth the wait.
Let me tell you all about their Lobster Roll...
It arrived glistening with perfection. Taking favoured qualities from classic sourdough bread and the delicious sweet flavours of a brioche bun, Burger and Lobster have created an eye-rollingly scrumptious dough hybrid which is baked daily on-site to create a plump, glossy bed worthy of a lobsters slumber.
Meaty white chunks of lobster are tossed lightly in a flavourful Japanese mayonnaise dressing before being heartily stuffed into the roll ready to be devoured. Chopped chives and a wedge of lemon are the pièce de résistance on this dish before the roll is served up in a branded, card sleeve which safely holds the stuffed bun in all its overflowing glory.
The first bite is fatal. Buttery and rich, each mouthful is as decadent and indulgent as the last. Truly my favourite of all 3, I felt positively spoilt from the sweet, crisp chomps of bread to the meaty chunks of lobster coated in the tangy, succulent sauce which greeted me with every bite.
Each dinner option comes accompanied by a generous portion of fries and salad topped with parmesan shavings. The fries were flawless and the perfect supporting act to the names above the door. The salad provided a necessary green element to the platter, providing fresh tastes of peppery and leafy crunches in between mouthfuls of rich meat and fried potato.
At £20 a pop per plate, Burger and Lobster have nailed simplicity dining and have created the perfect fuss-free evening for diners who purely want to leave decision-making at the door, put on their bib and chow down on some hearty home cookin’.
Should you desperately not want to have to make a decision whilst dining a la Burger Lobster, your helpful server will even let you go halfsies with a half a portion of lobster and a half portion of their meaty monster to satisfy all your cravings.
I was lucky enough to dine during one of their exclusive “Tank Talk” evenings. Being a part of this incredibly original evening gave me an opportunity to learn where our dinner had come from, how it’s sourced, kept fresh, its journey and delivery straight to plate.
An educational and beneficial niche with a subject matter I think is so important in the current food industry. With the Tank Talks running every Wednesday throughout the month of March, sadly you may have missed the boat if you weren’t lucky enough to get in first time round.
But fear not! I have hopeful feelings that Tank Talks may be making reappearance later in the year. Keep an eye out for updates from Burger and Lobster via their social media platforms, and should the opportunity float onto your feed again be sure to grab it, you’d be cray(fish) not to.
