We go to Ribby Hall about twice a year, either as a family or in a single sex group. The restaurant offers fantastic value and service; the food is very good quality, beautifully presented and the choice is varied. Top marks!

Went for a meal here on Friday night having been recommended by a friend and I can honestly say it was the best meal I have ever had. I liked the place from the minute I walked in and the staff were immediately welcoming. Combined with the ambience of the restaurant with the real wood fire and equally relaxing lighting, I was able to fully relax and take stock of all on offer as I wasn’t driving. Just 40 minutes from Manchester into rural Lancashire; I would normally spend this time on the Met, bus or both to get into the city – so certainly worth the trip. A variety of canapés arrived with our drinks which gave me a hint of what was to come. I went for one of the taster menus as I couldn’t single out any one dish to have from the a la carte - I was looking forward to trying as much of each dish as possible! I was certainly not disappointed. From the freshly baked bread right down to the rich after dinner coffee and homemade petit fours, nothing was lacking. I was reliably informed by the attentive staff that everything was made on the premises and only from locally sourced produce - down to the butter (the only butter produced in Lancashire!), melt in the mouth oxtail, cheeses, biscuits, even the plums are from the Hall’s own trees. The staff were really knowledgeable about the menu and the wines (without making me feeling uncultured!). Each course was refreshing and novel. Even as I got fuller I couldn’t want to see what was coming next. They obviously care a great deal about what they offer at Ribby Hall and how they deliver it. This certainly was a dining experience and for my part the best I have ever had. So much so I finished all 7 courses! From chatting with the staff I understand that single night accommodation could be arranged (from only £60!) if you do fancy complimenting your exquisite food with the vast array of wines available and making a night of it, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, near or far.
