1539 Restaurant & Bar shortlisted for the Northern Design Awards

After a makeover in April of this year, 1539 Restaurant & Bar have been shortlisted for the Northern Design Awards. The restaurant worked closely with Knutsford interior design agency Style Matters to create a brand new concept, which broadened the appeal of the restaurant.

The judges included HRH Princess Katarina, writer, lecturer and TV presenter George Clark and designer and TV presenter Linda Barker along other well known British designers. The award brief searched for the best social space in the North that demonstrated itself as a cut above the rest.

The brief was to create a operational space that is an interchangeable environment for the restaurants corporate clients & race day events but yet create a more versatile, welcoming, sophisticated and casual atmosphere to pull a wider range of customers.

The restaurant was redesigned to give improved views of the race course with raised carpeted areas, traditional panelling detail & incorporating luxury seating mixed alongside private booths and high poseur table seating introducing a real eclectic way of dining. A collection of furniture was developed from scratch including deep – buttoned bespoke booths and superbly comfortable dining chairs with a traditional feel, but contemporary detailing and upholstered in rich vibrant prints and textured fabrics. Vintage furnishings mixed with custom design pieces allow guests to continually discover new elements of design within the new interiors.

The bar area took its inspiration from the atmosphere of a sophisticated gentleman’s club with deep button booths and log burning fire within the new bar & library area. We have introduced vibrant rich colours, bold prints and textures taking a twist from traditional forms within our furniture designs.

The upstairs Roof Lounge was transformed into a sleek, stylish yet comfortable environment using exquisite finishes; copper and slate cladding, luxury seating & a touch of artisan. Bespoke fixed seating, chairs and barstools, all crafted here in Style Matter’s Cheshire workshops.

The awards will be held on the 21st November in The Devonshire Dome, Buxton.
