A Double Food Award for the Alderley Restaurant!

Alderley Edge Hotel came away with two awards in this week’s annual “Life Food Awards”.

The Brasserie won the "Best Cheshire Restaurant” title and head chef Chris Holland was named “North West Chef of the Year” at a black tie dinner at Manchester’s Midland Hotel.

Judges were impressed by the Brasserie’s “masterpiece of conception and design” and said that “the combination of traditional French brasserie style with a menu of classic retro dishes featuring high quality ingredients served with a modern twist, makes dining here a rewarding and fun experience.”

And Chris Holland’s award comes after years of building the Alderley Restaurant to the three AA rosette standard that it achieved in 2010 and launching the new Brasserie’s retro menu, as an alternative food option, earlier this year.

“To win a ‘double’ was wonderful and a number of people share a great deal of thanks for making it happen,” said the hotel’s General Manager Mr. Ahmet Kurcer.

“It’s an accolade for the Brasserie, which shares the same kitchen that raised fine dining at the Alderley Restaurant into the country’s top 10 per cent, alongside famous London restaurants like Marco Pierre White’s ‘L’Escargot’, Michel Roux’s ‘Le Gavroche’, and ‘Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s’. And it’s a crowning achievement for Chris who has driven the standards to this level.”

The Brasserie beat two high profile finalists from the same Wirral village of Oxton - Michelin-starred chef-patron Marc Wilkinson’s ‘Fraiche’ and the ‘Riverhill Restaurant’ where the chef is the ‘BBC Masterchef: The Professionals’ 2010 winner Claire Lara.
The ‘double’ now makes five prestigious awards in the last six years. Ahmet Kurcer received a Cheshire Life Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006, Alderley Edge Hotel won the Visit Chester & Cheshire Small Hotel of the Year award in 2007 and the Alderley Restaurant took the Cheshire Life Restaurant of the Year title in 2009.
