Get ‘Hot’ and ‘Spicy’ with Cabana’s Malagueta Chicken this January

It’s International Hot and Spicy Food Day this January 16th and what better way to spice up your life than with a trip to Cabana Brasilian Barbecue this month.

When people think of hot food, they may opt for a Mexican or Indian, but Cabana is home to some of the spiciest chicken this side of Brasil thanks to the infamous malagueta chilli.

The ‘malagueta’ is a fiery chilli, which has a similar kick to the Portuguese piri-piri, and is heavily used in the Bahia state of Brasil. Every Brasilian table top boasts a bottle or dish of them preserved in oil, vinegar or cachaça.

Cabana’s most famous dish (whose fans include Oprah Winfrey and the England Rugby team) is succulent chicken coated in a spicy malagueta marinade and finished with a honey mustard glaze before being cooked over open coals. This dish is best served with a side of cassava fries, also known as “The Brasilian French Fry”. Wash it all down with a classic Brasilian Caipirinha – this cachaça based cocktail is now available in Chilli Passionfruit flavour, it’s hot to trot!

Cabana’s fiery signature sauce is also used to marinade their equally tasty Spicy Malagueta Chicken Wings as well as some delicious prawns and pork sliders which you can sample from their starter menu.

About Cabana

Every time we visit Brasil, we discover another reason to love it.

There are three things that we think make it truly special: Firstly, the food: it's always communal; especially when friends gather around the oversized barbecues found on every corner.

Then, there's the wonderful eccentricity of the cities: an endless urban collage, haphazardly thrown together to create the most humble, but uplifting environments.

Finally, there's the unmistakably Brasilian outlook: 'tudo bem', meaning 'everything's good', is a spirit that's in everyone's heart, whatever cards you've been dealt.

Cabana is our homage to all of these things; our attempt to share a bit of the real Brasil.
