Mel Meets.....Chime Head Chef Elliott Doyle

Mel discusses Masterchef, Michelin and Maze with Elliott Doyle who is the Head Chef at Harford’s new kid on the block; Chime.

  • What is your name? Elliott Doyle.

  • What is your current position? Head Chef.

  • And your restaurant is called? Chime Harford.

  • How long have you been cooking? 9 years.

  • Tell me about your current menu. Our menu is all about fresh food - creating dishes with a modern twist on traditional fine dining.

  • What's your most popular dish on the menu? Chime’s Little Lamb.

  • Where's the tastiest meal you've ever had? The Witchery by the castle in Edinburgh. During a research trip for Chime, myself and Scott (General Manager) dined there by chance. To start we had a wild rabbit terrine & steak tartar and for mains we had a lamb wellington with a red wine jus; it was out of this world.

  • Where is your favourite restaurant? Maze - Grosvenor Square, London.

  • Would you ever go on Masterchef or go down the celebrity chef route? I wouldn't go down the Masterchef route, but the draw of being a celebrity chef and being known for my style of cooking does appeal to me.

  • What do you think of the Michelin stars - is this the ultimate goal? It doesn't really interest me, local awards, in which our customers have a say interest me more, id rather just focus on our own goals of creating something a little different and having people enjoy it whilst being successful.

  • Who does the cooking at home? My partner is...let’s say....a bit challenged in the kitchen; so I tend to do it!

  • Have you any guilty pleasures when it comes to eating bad food? Cheese!

  • 10 years from now, where will you be? Executive for Douglas Mon Ltd - controlling the kitchens over multiple sites.

  • Any tips for budding wannabe chefs? Start from the bottom and work your way up, study hard, work hard, play hard and have a thick skin and sense of humour.

  • If you could work for any chef, who would it be? Tom Kerridge.

  • You're in an all you can eat - what do you go for first? Chinese!

  • About Chime

Chime is a very popular restaurant and wine bar in Hartford just outside Northwich.

Once the old off licence in Chester Road, the team behind Chime have completely redesigned this quaint corner shop into a modern, stylish restaurant with a selection of fine menus to match.

With an open kitchen, long standing (and beautifully crafted) bar and exposed brick, it's easy to see that they take pride in their appearance.

Food is served daily from 1200 for lunch and in the evening with three excellent menus ranging from sharing platters and salads to freshly stone baked pizzas and seafood.

Whether you want to pop in for a drink, have a family meal (they do kids menus) or a romantic meal out, we think Chime has all the ingredients for a great dining experience.
