Dulcimer in May

Hi All,

We're gearing up for a very exciting May here at Dulcimer. We've a new addition to our Bar Menu, some stunning Guest Beers and we look forward to some fantastic live music as part of this year's Chorlton Arts Festival.

Although there's plenty to get stirred up about, don't forget our regulars...

The Dulcimer Inn-Quizition hosted by Richard Barry is always an experience. Those that dare to take on Chorlton's toughest pub quiz stand, not only to win the prestige that comes with such a feat of general knowledge but also the chance to win our rolling jackpot which currently stands at well above £200!

On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings we play host to some truly exceptional folk musicians. Our regular Tuesday night session is Irish folk musicianship at its very best. More a social gathering than a performance it's a lovely way to spend an evening in our cozy upstairs bar. Wednesdays alternate between our new night Chorlton Acoustic Sessions (Don't let the name fool you. They've played host to the best contemporary folk artists from up and down the country!) and some long-standing friends of Dulcimer who's traditional folk singing only gets more and more spirited as the evening goes on!

As the evenings get longer and warmer our resident DJs will be stepping it up a gear each and every weekend. Whether it's Goff Wowie Zowie & Jon Mackenzie's Hot Rats, Jon K's Infant Tango or The Beat Boutique's Family Affair you're always guaranteed the very best soundtrack to your weekend.

More details on upcoming events below. See you all soon!

About Dulcimer

Located in the heart of Chorlton, an area well known for arts and music, Dulcimer opened in 2007, (appropriately enough on the former site of an art shop), and was instantly dubbed 'the hippest new music venue in Manchester' by The Guardian.

The bar rapidly built a strong reputation for itself as a live music platform, primarily within folk and folk crossover genres, establishing a close working relationship with local luminaries of the music industry, including childhood friends Badly Drawn Boy and John Stammers.

Dulcimer has two distinct faces: at night it's a thriving music venue and bar. By day, its chilled atmosphere, homely brick walls and soft eclectic background music make it perfect for an informal business meeting, taking advantage of the generously-portioned lunch menu.

Alternatively, you can work on your laptop, or surf the Net on the free Wi-Fi. If you fancy being outside, there's a patio on the street, and an intimately-proportioned beer garden to the rear, where you're likely to find poets, songwriters and daydreamers chatting animatedly over a pint on lazy summer evenings, or a band on the fire escape, posing for an album cover photo shoot.

It's all part of the atmosphere, illustrating that Dulcimer is not just a bar, it's a destination.
