Curry house keeps in the heat

The heat is on at an Indian restaurant in Wilmslow..and it’s not just their acclaimed curries.

For after last year’s Arctic winter, the contemporary-styled Eastern Revive is pioneering a revolutionary heating system.

The floor-to ceiling-windows on the restaurant’s Wareham Street facade lost so much heat that the restaurant had to buy in extra heaters to keep diners warm as temperatures plunged.

Now the windows actually provide radiant heat, keeping diners comfortable at the touch of a button without the need for central heating using conventional radiators - or extra heaters.

And, according to regular customer and managing director of Finnglass UK, the Stockport-based firm that supplied and installed the system, Shay O’Carroll, the restaurant’s heating bills are set to shrink by 35 - 50 per cent.

Windows and French doors at the back of the 74-cover dining room are also fitted with highly-efficient heated glass and a row of discreet glass panels mounted by the ceiling supplements a system that’s not only eco-friendly but virtually invisible.

Eastern Revive’s owner, Wasim, can keep a constant eye on how much power – or how little – the system is consuming by checking a sophisticated monitoring system.

The heated windows and glass - developed in Finland - were installed at the Eastern Revive during the restaurant’s recent £30,000 refurbishment.

"The system is brilliant," said Wasim.

"It’s practically invisible and has allowed us much more scope to adopt a stylish, contemporary look for the restaurant."
