Mel bets big and wins a steak......
Mel was very lucky last week, very lucky indeed......why I hear you cry? Well let me tell you.
Typically when picking a restaurant, Mel would never think "I must go to the casino for a bite to eat" - and why would you? The thing is, you should, as Mel uncovered one of the nicest meals ever eaten in the sunny city of Liverpool.
I am, of course, talking about the recently revamped, relaunched and revived Genting Casino with newly decked out Fahrenheit Grill & Bar situated on Queen’s Square. Nothing like the old buffet halls of Vegas, Fahrenheit is instead a fine-dining treat with great ambience and stunning food and service. Sinatra would be happy here......
Although they had a selection of menus fit to offer you light bites, two course meals and lots more, Mel (being a greedy thing) gambled for a selection of dishes from the a la carte menu.
First up was the daily special starter which was a take on the old prawn cocktail. This offered spicy king prawns with chorizo on a ciabatta served with a crisp salad - divine. Prawns were meaty yet light with the bread holding it all together with a sweet and spicy aftertaste. She could have eaten that all day.
Next up, the fine waiter Andy suggested (almost challenged) Mel to the biggest dish on the menu....the 16oz rib eye steak. Not being one to shy away from a slab of meat, it was ordered and 10 minutes later it was served to her on the bone. Instantly Mel’s eyes lit up as she was clearly in the presence of a fine steak. Accompanied with delicious rustic fries, a well seasoned field mushroom and several vine tomatoes, this was a treat and a half; just as a steak should be.
After a bit of a rest, Mel was ready for dessert – this time, a classic New York cheesecake with coffee. Lovely and velvety, this dessert was the perfect way to finish a meal and one she will be back for time after time.
You really need to try this place out, and they even have a great meal deal incorporating food, drink and a flutter on the Blackjack tables. Mel even won!
