The perfect country pub

There’s a fine art to creating the perfect country pub – it needs wonderful food and a degree of formality that makes it the equal of the best restaurants.

But it also needs all the hallmarks of the sociably, relaxed and fun pub culture that’s unique to Britain – and that’s why The Roebuck in Mobberley is such a delight.

With a mouth-watering selection of sharing plates and platters, succulent cuts of locally-sourced meats, classic dishes and traditional Sunday roasts, there’s something to suit all comers at this former ‘Cheshire Restaurant of the Year’ award winner.

What’s more, The Roebuck boasts fine Grade II listed architecture and finely furnished dining areas with an eye-catching marriage of wood, plump upholstery and leather. There’s even a picturesque drinking and dining outdoor garden and a 60 seater dining room upstairs. “Our professional team believe in proper food freshly prepared to only the highest of standards,” says owner Chris Hume, who boasts more than 20 years’ experience in serving the community with the best of British dining.

If its good food and drink you’re looking for, take a seat. Renowned chefs have created a succulent New Year menu offering that can only be described as ‘meat heaven’. Why not wash down a 28-day aged steak, local game or organic farmhouse chicken prepared to perfection with a pint of local guest ale?

“Here in Cheshire we’re rightfully proud of our heritage of wild game,” Chris adds. “Tastier, healthier and more nutritious than farm-reared cuts, we offer the quality that’s only available right on our doorstep, fondly referred to as ‘cluck and quack’.”

The Roebuck’s extensive wine list has a great choice of modern and old world wines, including carefully selected Burgundy and Bordeaux numbers to complement the á la carte menu.

With regular events throughout the year, including a mammoth game feast and regular steak club, The Roebuck is sure to bring a smile to your face. The country pub also plays host to a raft of comedians and entertainers, as well as being the perfect place to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a loved one. Book in advance to avoid disappointment!
