The Fastest Tandoor in the West - Indian Ocean sets WORLD RECORD!
Ashton Under Lyne’s Indian Ocean restaurant has SMASHED the Guinness World Record for the most amount of nan breads cooked in an hour! On Tuesday 29th September the chefs at the Indian Ocean cooked 649 nan breads!! smashing the previous world record by 249!
A traditional challenge among Tandoori bakers in Pakistan, it took all the skill, expertise and knowledge of the Indian Ocean’s expert tandoori chefs – not to mention bravery to beat the record.
The nan breads didn't go to waste - all the fresh nans were donated to local homeless charities and hostels, along with curry for 300 people.
The event was to celebrate the Tameside Food and Drink Festival.
