Kukoos Street Food Celebrates Official Launch Bringing Traffic to a Standstill on Oxford Road
On Thursday 28th February 2013, Kukoos Street Food celebrated their official launch by hosting a special party for customers and local residents to showcase their Indian, Moroccan and Lebanese Street Food menu. The day started with a special balloon launch outside the new shop at 12.30noon when 500 orange balloons were launched into the Manchester skyline. Each balloon had attached to it a special treat - a voucher for a complementary meal at Kukoos. Needless to say the balloon launch resulted in a bit of a frenzy outside the Oxford Road shop as customers and passers by all jumped in to get their hands on a prize. By 11pm a customer as far afield as Llanferres North Wales had snagged a balloon and tweeted in his thanks, promising a trip to Manchester to claim his prize!
At 6pm the real party got started with traditional Bollywood dancers, a classic Moroccan Drummer and Moroccan DJ Mustafa entertaining the guests. Chairman Amjad Bashir, along with his sons and partners in business (Tayub Amjad and Mudassar Amjad), commenced the celebrations, gathering together some of the Kukoos team for the official ribbon cutting. After a few words of thanks to all involved in getting Kukoos up and running Mr Bashir cut the ribbon and the party began. Quite quickly Oxford Road came to a standstill as traffic both on foot and on the road stopped to watch the fabulous desi nach dance troop perform a range of traditional dances to famous Bollywood hits.
Guests not only enjoyed the entertainment but they also got to indulge in tasters of a wide selection of the street vendor inspired Kukoos menu. The food on show included Indian samosas and biryani, Lebanese tabbouleh, Morrocan Megaz hot dogs and cous cous salad.
There were also sweet treats and a selection of fabulous Kukoos drinks including their homemade Indian Lemonade and Mango & Coconut Lassi.
