Prolific Restaurateurs Rev-up for Third Cheshire Venue

David Mooney, co-owner and chef patron of prestigious Cheshire eatery the Lord Binning in Kelsall and his business partner Paul Newman have announced the acquisition of a third venue, the Hanging Gate in Weaverham near Northwich, for their rapidly expanding dining venue portfolio, under their burgeoning brand the Knutsford-based New Moon Pub Company.

With business booming at the New Moon Pub Company’s initial venue, the Lord Binning in Kelsall, and the much talked-about opening of the Old Sessions House in Knutsford due to happen in early September, success is no stranger to Cheshire dining’s most dynamic duo of restaurateurs, Paul Newman and David Mooney.

This week the owners of the New Moon Pub Company, which has its head office in Knutsford, announced that the Hanging Gate in Weaverham near Northwich would be their third venue to open in a twelve month period.

Following their tried and tested ethos the New Moon Pub Company refurbished and improved the Hanging Gate which will soon be offering a warm welcome and top-of-the-range cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere.

Chef Patron David Mooney is a firm advocate of utilising the strengths of the local produce to be found in Cheshire and the surrounding counties and the innovative menus will reflect David’s passion for high-quality local ingredients.

Explained David: “We are diligent about using premium quality produce and where possible source products locally, as there are so many wonderful producers on our doorstep.... Willington Farm Apple Juice and Delamere Goats Cheese to name two.”

Business partner Paul Newman, an elite North West restaurateur, formerly a founder and director at Living Ventures said: “We’re excited to bring our elite brand of informal fine dining to the Northwich area. We’re passionate about what we do and the experience that we are able to offer to all of our customers and we can’t wait to open the doors to the new Hanging Gate experience.”

A comprehensive interior refurbishment will see a investment of £250,000. The new venue will also create 20 new jobs for local staff including positions in the bar, kitchen and front of house. Interested parties can email: [email protected] for more information.

The Hanging Gate, scheduled to open December, will be the third venue for the New Moon Pub Company owners within just 12 months and the passionate pair of restaurateurs already have plans for a forth location underway.

Opening 5pm, Thursday 3rd May. We're thrilled to have the Morris Dancer as one of the latest additions to the Brunning and Price family. The earliest record we can find of it (so far) is in 1822, when James Cawley paid a fee of £20 to be granted the license for a pub known as 'The Globe'. Since then the pub has been called many things, the 'Morris Dancer' (the name which we favour), the 'Olive Tree' and latterly the 'Lord Binning'.
