We are nearly open!
We're currently engaged in a frantic race against time to meet the new proposed opening date - the weekend of August 16th and 17th. This is dependent on the flooring going in on time (well it would help).
There have been many headaches and frustrations along the way: recently we've nearly had chaos over differing colour choices. Ruth happened to think that the grey we initially chose for the snug looked classic, but other mutterings suggested that it looked like the interior of a battleship. We settled on a nice turquoise (ok, so she chose that one, too). And we're best not mentioning Jeremy's olive green tiles for the deli-counter! But things can now certainly be said to be coming together. We think that in the end, delays and setbacks will only make The Continental an ever better place to while away some of your time.
There's already much to look forward to when we open. A menu containing the best of British cuisine, from pub classics to evening specials, all freshly cooked from locally sourced, quality ingredients by an expertly trained team of chefs. A range of excellent cask ales, premium European lagers and fine wines - not to mention quality coffees and delicious juices. A beautifully refurbed building and an outside where you'll want to linger, watching the river roll by.
So we hope to see you down there on the opening weekend.
