New Moon Co’s delight at new site in Liverpool

New Moon Co's delight at new site in Liverpool New Moon Co have just signed on the dotted line for their latest venture and are delighted to have secured their first venue in Liverpool; and what a venue it is! Located on Hardman Street, L1 they have secured a lease on the iconic building that is The Old Blind School. High profile North West chef and enthusiastic restaurateur, David Mooney is the chef patron and co-‐owner of the New Moon Company with business partner and ex Living Ventures director, Paul Newman.

The Old Blind School or #TOBS (as it will affectionately be known) will open late spring, early summer and will be modelled on the extremely successful Old Sessions House (#TOSH) in Knutsford. The Old Blind School, a grade 2 listed & iconic building, will be totally revamped and after many years of neglect, restored and majorly revamped sympathetically in keeping with the building. Work will start immediately with huge investment being made in the building itself to convert it in to a 200+ cover restaurant across two floors, with a state-‐of-‐ the-‐art kitchen. The Old Blind School will not just be about great food but also unique fine ales, fantastic wines and a bespoke list of fabulous cocktails. The new venue will also create 30 to 40 new jobs including positions for bar, kitchen and waiting staff. Interested parties can email: [email protected] for more information.

The successful duo behind New Moon Co, Paul Newman and David Mooney are extremely excited about the new venture which will take them up to seven sites. Paul, who is no stranger to the Liverpool scene, said 'We have been looking for the right site in Liverpool now for a while and it has always been our intention to be in this fabulous City. We are delighted to have found the perfect site to showcase our thing in Liverpool.'

David the other half of the successful duo commented 'We are buzzing and can't wait to start work on the building. We have already given much thought to our menus, we just can't wait to get the dishes on the tables!'

David is also a serial media star with a 10 part series for North West regional TV 'Food Hunter' which ran for two years. Dave was particularly pleased to be so involved with the BBC2 series 'Hairy Bikers Food Tour of Britain' and appear in the Sept 09 programme representing Cheshire. More recently in 2012 Dave filmed 'Perfect' for Sky TV as a judge, a show about perfect pub food and in 2013 on ITV's primetime 'Tonight' program, Dave championed a reduction in food waste! Previously he has also clocked up over 200 appearances as the 'Granada Tonight' resident Chef. From BBC Manchester he has completed live & pre-‐recorded segments for the Morning magazine programme, to include viewer advice on budgeting & food preparation. Radio work is too numerous to mention, cumulating in guest spots on food for on BBC Radio Five Live.

Business partner Paul Newman, an experienced North West based restaurateur, was a founder member and director with North West dominant, Living Ventures Ltd and was responsible for the launch of The Living Room concept, the first of which opened in December 1999 with the second site 'Liverpool' in 2000.

The Old Blind School 'should' be ready for customers in May this year – watch this space!
