Red-y...Steady...Bake! Red Hot Summer Cake Off Goes Down a Treat in Manchester

Local families and amateur bakers were given a tasty treat last week when Red Hot World Buffet hosted a free cake decorating masterclass and competition in Manchester.

The company’s head pastry chef Darshan Choudhari led the Red Hot Summer Cake Off on Thursday (23rd August), inviting families and food bloggers to join him for a two-hour workshop celebrating the launch of Red Hot’s brand new range of cakes to take home.

A workstation full of tasty ingredients was the platform for the event, during which Darshan revealed how to create a strawberry cheesecake from his new artisan collection and served samples to eager participants.

He then invited teams of adults and children to compete in a “cake off”, where they were each given 30 minutes to decorate a basic sponge in the most imaginative way possible, taking their pick from dozens of delicious toppings including frosting, fresh fruit and chocolate.

Darshan said: “I was so impressed with people’s enthusiasm, talent and creativity. It was almost impossible to find just one winner, so we also decided to nominate a runner-up.”

All participants were presented with a certificate and a meal for two at Red Hot World Buffet, while the two winners were also invited to select a cake made by Darshan to take home.

Andrew Oldham, writer and university lecturer and his wife Carol, director of a vintage events and hire company, both from Saddleworth, attended the event with their 2-year-old son Frederic.

Carol said: “We all had a fabulous time at the Cake Off and were thrilled to be treated to a behind the scenes glimpse into how the Red Hot cakes are made. We thoroughly enjoyed our chance to design a cake and were impressed by the delicious end result!”
