Green Fingered Pupils plant herbs for local pub!

The Ring O’ Bells invited two local schools to plant herbs in its garden as part of an initiative to get children involved in gardening. Pupils from Christleton and Waverton Primary school visited the Ring O’ Bells pub in Christleton and were given the opportunity to plant their own herbs. It is hoped that the pupils, who are eco representatives for their school will visit again once the herbs have grown and be able to see how they are used as ingredients in a number of the dishes on the Ring O’ Bells menu.

Owner Ian Wade said “It’s a great way to get children interested in both gardening and cooking. Herbs are easy to grow and you don’t need a lot of space so can be grown easily at home.

The Ring O’ Bells also runs a Pizza Idol competition in which local pupils create their own pizza using their ideal pizza toppings. This competition has been running for 4 years and is always popular amongst the children as the winning pizza features on the Ring O’ Bells menu.
