Ringing the Changes for Cheshire village

‘Time’ has been called at the Ring O’Bells in Christleton. Time for a re-launch! The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Chester, Councillor Brian and Mrs Raewyn Bailey officially opened the pub at a special launch party for more than 250 guests. Successful local pub entrepreneurs Ian Wade and Adam Johnson of Modern British Taverns have taken over at the Ring O’Bells and have transformed the celebrated Christleton landmark to one befitting its location in the centre of one of Cheshire’s Best Kept Villages. Local pub operators, Modern British Taverns has won awards for work at two other locals, The Faulkner in Hoole and The Bouverie in Garden Lane. The company has to refurbished, refreshed & re-launched the Ring O’Bells.

Ian Wade said;
“The launch was a big success with a great turnout - it’s clear that people really care about their local. We are aiming to put the Ring O’Bells back into the heart of the village and make it a big pull for city dwellers. The refurbishment and makeover are keeping with the area, albeit with a few contemporary touches. There is a large alfresco terraced garden and dining area along with a more family friendly part of the garden with children's play area. The interior has been completely revamped and remodelled with an improved, more welcoming layout inside. There have been some big changes to the menu and also guest beers, there’s much more excitement and a real reason to come inside.”

Commenting on comparisons with their existing pubs, Ian added;
“Great surroundings, great food and great hospitality are always important and we’ve learned this with The Faulkner and The Bouverie. The Ring O’Bells should be at the centre of village life as well as being a destination pub. We know people travel miles for a good pub - I’ve welcomed the opportunity to be involved and will ensure the Ring O’Bells becomes the pub the award winning village deserves.”

Reaction from locals so far has been very positive:
“Good stuff. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Ring O’Bells.”
“Hopefully the revival of the Ring O’Bells will help rekindle community life in Christleton, it’s sad we lost Post Office services here. The launch had a real buzz and the pub looks fantastic.” And
“Great news, it's such a lovely location,” were typical.

The redesigned menu satisfies the growing demand for a return to classic British cuisine, while still catering for someone looking for something different. Starters range from classic pub fare with a twist, such as smoked haddock, bubble and squeak fishcake, lemon and caper mayonnaise, to complex combinations of flavours in dishes like crispy bacon, avocado and spinach salad with blue cheese and pickled walnuts. The contrast of old and new, familiar and unfamiliar continues into the main course. The selection includes several firm favourites; beer battered hake, hand cut chips and pea puree, The Bell’s pie of the day with chips, complemented by more exotic dishes like seared tuna steak with chilli butter, pak choi and noodles.

The bar menu serves sandwiches, quick snacks and uncomplicated hearty pub classics. A children’s healthy menu is also available to appeal to smaller appetites. Where possible, any one of the dishes on the main menu will be made smaller for kids at half the price. The Ring of Bells is also proud to support Children Today as its chosen charity.
