The opening of The Chester Grille

The Chester Grille, a new restaurant opens within the MacDonald New Blossoms hotel in the beautiful historic city of Chester. We hope this restaurant will prove to become a perfect addition to the city’s dining scene …. a touch of Parisian bistro chic mixed with the New York vibe, served up in the heart of this picturesque Roman city.
The latest venture is from the team behind the acclaimed Room Restaurants who already have existing Grille sites in Harrogate, Lincoln, Hoxton and King’s Cross, London. The 75 cover restaurant has a funky décor that epitomises a contemporary cool dining experience with clean lines, leather banquette seating, and wood tones that all give the diner a relaxed yet professional dining atmosphere. Targeting local businesses, residents and visitors to the city, Grille is a versatile venue that can be used for every entertaining occasion whether it is a business lunch meeting or a 21st Birthday celebration.

Head chef, Dave Halewood, formerly of Hoole Hall in Chester will be cooking up a storm daily with his all day menu of classic dishes, great grills and daily specials. Full on taste but light on the wallet, The Hoxton Grille will offer a delicious yet affordable dining experience throughout the day. (Examples of the menu can be found on the website)

‘The Hoxton Grille menu will be based around classic comfort dishes’, says co-founder John Pallagi ‘with inspiration taken from the French and Americans, but with a culinary heritage firmly rooted in Britain’.


The impressive wine list draws mainly on France and the New World, with a good range available by the glass. There’s also a 50cl carafe – ideal for lunchtimes when a bottle is too much but a glass just isn’t enough….

John Pallagi continues, “Chester is a beautiful city steeped in history with incredible features such as the amphitheatre and the Roman walls but as well as its heritage side it has a vibrancy and a great modern social scene.
We want to add something to the restaurant and bar scene and to become part of this fabulous city.”
